Chapter 201: ...Myself into?
Now how does this look like the best hotel, Lal my good man?" I smiled looking at the shady looking establishment a little displaced from civilization the young demon had brought us to.
"Ah, but of course I thought you’d think that." The demon moved closer to me. "Let me tell you a secret but a few know of." He whispered.
"Oh, do tell." I leaned closer.
"This place only looks like this from the outside. On the inside, it’s the most luxurious lodge you can imagine. And guess what, it’s only reserved for VIP races just like yourselves."
Hearing what the young demon said, I couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. Do demons think all humans are stupid? I thought. Who in the hell would believe something like that? Boy, your act isn’t even convincing. Still,
"Oh really?" I asked in surprise even as i felt the mood of my group behind me growing increasing dim.
"By the seven hells." He swore.
"If that is the case you might as well lead the way then, my friend. I promise there will be more than enough compensation for your service." I said as a small transparent bag of aether stones appeared in my hand before vanishing.
His eyes lit up at the sight of the small transparent bag. "Hehehe, I will be eternally grateful." He chuckled, his eyes flashing with a glint I almost missed, before reaching for the handle of the doors of the shady building.
Lal pushed the door open and took a step inside, before beckoning for us to do the same.
"Boss, I’m telling you, this is a trap." Vera hissed in a. whisper. "Not a single truth has seen the light of the day from this man’s mouth."
"Vera is right, Boss." Alan said grimly. "I detect some significant amount of danger in there. My ability does not deem it favourable if we enter."
My eyes narrowed slightly at his words. If his ability detects danger even with me present, than that means whatever is in there is enough to pose a threat. But then again, his danger sense also somewhat depends on information. Alan might know what the others were capable of, but he didn’t truly know what I was capable of.
Still, I have to be cautious. The danger Alan must be significant enough to pose a threat comparably to the Zeta rank or higher.
"Trust me." I nodded and whispered to the rest. Maybe because of my effortless charisma or the fact that I had recently been proven to be a prince, the others only hesitated for only a moment before they all nodded in agreement.
Therefore, we all walked towards the door where Lal was still standing. The moment I took a step inside the building, I felt something wrong.
I paused for a split second. ’A barrier.’ I mused as I felt a barely perceptible ultra thin film. The only reason I felt it was because I had split off a reflection without Lal none the wiser earlier when we left the docks.
After we had finished entering, Lal closed the door behind our backs before he hurried to our front once more. The interior of the building was a large room fitting for a lobby, albeit it looked nothing like one. Dust and Spiderwebs were woven everywhere as if the place had been empty since forever.
The lighting in the room was a little dim, but I still had no problems with my vision.
"This place looks like it is completely deserted." Bob muttered.
"Ah, it is over here, my friend, this will lead us to the transformed interior I told you about." Lal gestured to a door at the side of the room which would supposedly lead us to the so called best hotel in the city.
He then started to walk towards the door and we followed after him. The moment Lal opened the door, my perception picked up a large number of auras. How many? I couldn’t tell, but I was sure they were more than fifteen. Another thing I noticed was that Alan looked incredibly grim.
The door led to a large hall illuminated with crystal lamps at every corner. Only one person was inside the hall contrary to the over fifteen auras I had perceived.
"Lal you son of a bitch, you’ve managed to catch us some big fish." The only man in the room grinned wildly.
"What can I say, I’m just that good, Azar." Lal grinned in response. "These people seem like very rich humans, and that unremarkable fool before them is their leader. Probably the most foolish human I’ve ever met."
"Hahahaha, you don’t need to tell me that." These humans are far foolish than the ones in the old warring times." The man named Azar laughed boisterously.
"Uh, you have us lost here, Lal my good friend." I spoke up at this point. "None of us speak Noctyss you know." I smiled. Yeah, all this time, Lal and this so called Azar were in the demons own language.
And as far as I could tell, I was the only one amongst our group who could speak it, which meant I heard every single thing they were saying.
’The nerve of them!’ I felt a rage bubbling beneath my chest. I didn’t particularly care that they were calling humans foolish. I mean, humans actually were foolish, case in point Alistair. What I actually cared about was that they lumped me in with all the humans. I was anything but foolish.
Lal meanwhile turned towards me with a wide smile. "Ah, forgive me, I wasn’t aware. I was telling my dear friend here that you all are VIP." He said to which I nodded, urging him to turn back to Azar.
"Are the others ready?" Lal asked in demon tongue.
"Why of course. Everyone is hidden, infact they can hear and see everything at the moment. The Boss got us ready since the moment you sent us a message." Azar replied with an even wider smile.
"That is great." Lal nodded. "What are we doing with this bunch?" he asked in an amused tone.
"Is there a need to ask?" Azar smiled. "We slaughter and plunder of course, hehehehehe."
Azar’s laughter was cut short however as a sound vibrated through the air.
Brrrt!
Azar’s eyes widened in shock as splatters of blood fell all over his face. Why blood you ask? Well, the reason for that was yours truly of course.
That was because my hand had gone through Lal’s back, and was protruding from his chest, with a still beating organ in my hand of course.
"Sigh, Lal my good friend." I said in mock disappointment using fluent demon tongue. "I thought you were going to bring us to the finest hotel this city has to offer."
"Y....you..." Lal turned his head to look at me. His mouth fizzling with blood.
"What?" I grinned. "Don’t worry." I placed my free hand on his shoulder. "Even though you failed to keep your promise, I’ll find you the finest place... in hell."
With my words, the remaining life the young demon had finally slipped away. But before his body could fall, my hand found his and slipped the storage ring off his finger.
"Ah, what a lovely souvenir, don’t you think?" I smirked at Azar who was slowly recovering from his shock.
At that moment however, several figures entered the hall from all around us, surrounding us in a tight circle. They were around twenty three if my eyes caught them well.
My group behind me had already drawn their weapons, safe for Khloe who was shouting. "Boss, I told you this was a scam!"
"Oh please, settle down will you Khloe." I said as I turned towards the person with strongest aura amongst the figures who had surrounded us.
"It’s not a scam, but a slaughter and plunder. We were lured here so they could kill us and take the spoils of war. Isn’t that right, Miss..."
"You’re a smart human if I’ve ever seen one." The woman who was supposedly the leader smiled in response.
"But it all ends here. This place is completely shrouded in a silence and an anti prying barrier. No one’s coming to your aid. Finish them."
I assessed her rank. The woman was at the bloody Zeta rank, and the two figures beside her, a man and a woman were at the Zeta- rank.
"Wait!"Just as the demons seemed ready to jump at us, I raised a hand, and the fools actually stopped.
"Boss, What do we do, they look ready to attack us at any moment!" Behind me, Bob exclaimed.
"Hmmm, what do we do?" I placed a hand beneath my chin as if in deep thought. "Ah, I’ve got it now, we slaughter these idiots, and plunder all that they have." I grinned.
"Hahahaha hahahahahahaha. I’ve never laughed like this in forever. You puny human, how arrogant." The woman laughed before scoffing.
"Being me his head." She said to a particularly ferocious looking demon, one of the two at the Zeta- rank. "And what are all of you waiting for, finish them off."
BOOM!
The air split apart as a bastard sword swept towards my neck. But it passed overhead as I dropped on all fours. This bastard took ’bring me his head’ literally. His first attack was actually poised to take off my head.
I had little time to ponder though, as two reflections instantly appeared next to me, each stronger than my main body was.
The sword descending towards my head stopped as a hand caught the ferocious demon’s ankle, before taking him off his feet.
Crack!
The floor shattered in spiderweb cracks as my reflection swung the demon at the ground face first.
My other reflection meanwhile, went towards the group to help them fend the weaklings. But truth to be told, none of them were weaklings. Each of them were at the Theta rank or above.
"Seven hells, what have I gotten myself into?" I cursed.
