Chapter 484: A Million Voices
"Do you think they’re gonna be alright?" Isla was the first to break the silence after they left so abruptly.
She was visibly upset and concerned. She wanted to go with them so badly but also understood that she might have been nothing but a burden.
Isla thought that falling into the portal last time made her a burden, a burden that needed to be rescued. Now more than ever, she wanted to prove to herself and others that she wasn’t just some princess that waited for prince charming to save her. Prove that she could be the prince charming doing all the saving.
She wanted to show that she could fight and that she wasn’t useless. An insecurity that she shared with a lot of people than she actually realised.
Kiro was something most looked up to for strength. Even before the war started he was Asgard’s number one player. He was like their beacon of hope, the lighthouse in a raging sea storm. The mountain to climb to reach his level was unbelievably tall.
They all had maxed out levels but he still had an edge. It wasn’t jealousy, they just wanted to stand with him and fight alongside him. They wanted to be his strength.
"They have to be." Nikolai answered after a long awkward silence.
The last time him and Felix parted ways, it was hell for him. But he trusted that he would come back alive this time too.
Their focus tried to remain in Asgard but there were people they cared about that they had no idea whether they would return alive. All they had was belief, belief in their strength that they will come back alive.
"Okay system, tell the entirety of online players to gather by the after dark base." Hiro gave the order, nobody questioned it either.
It seemed in the absence of Kiro, Hiro would take the reigns. He had come a long way from that shy kid who would’ve rather lay low instead of facing injustice head on.
From that kid on the train ride to Eden Academy, that fateful encounter changed everything for him. He had fought and even held his father while he died in his arms.
Of course there was concern for his friend, but somebody needed to hold the fort and with no sentiment. That was Kiro’s wish as he crossed over to the enemy’s nest anyway. No matter what, they should keep Asgard safe.

The system made a world announcement. Everyone else had their weapons out, as though a portal would open any time.
They weren’t concerned too much about where the portal would open because the sentient system would tell them and teleport them there immediately. Just like them, it wanted to protect this world, it was created for such.
Several minutes passed and hundreds upon thousands of players were filing in every minute. Asgard Online had millions of players recorded at one point, and they all showed up.
Millions of them, they wouldn’t be able to take on a general but they were good enough to slow it down while a guardian jumped in for the finishing blow.
Hiro hadn’t expected this many, he had thought they could create teams, every one of the teams lead by one or two guardians each but this was next to impossible to co-ordinate. There was simply too many people not that they were complaining, they needed the numbers.
"Did you expect this many?" Saanvi asked through the corner of her mouth.
"Not at all." Hiro was surprised, their murmers sounded like bees buzzing.
He took out his shield and spear. He used his spear to hit his shield, it made an uncomfortable sound but the noise made them all shut up and pay attention to the dwarf standing on a wall.
Hiro stood tall, looking down at them.
The ground was completely covered by a sea of people. It didn’t matter where he looked, there were just heads, shiny armours and everything else in the way. No dirt or vegetation just people.
He cleared his throat, enhancing his voice using Kaos.
"Can everybody hear me?"
"Whooo!"
That’s how their yes sounded like to him, what impressed him more was the fact that they all said it at the exact same time and then complete silence after. He was starting to think maybe co-ordinating wouldn’t be so hard.
"Kiro and Felix have just went over to the other world. As we speak here, they are most likely fighting millions of harbingers. You are asked here to bear witness, and to stand your ground and protect your home should they attempt to open another portal.
Asgardians are you ready?"
Another yes that sounded like a ’who’ reverberated throughout. Hiro smiled, it was the first time commanding something as big as this. With their intentions snaking throughout his body, it was truly an indescribable feeling.
One he didn’t want to let go of.
"Weapons at the ready, don’t slack off. Don’t die. Even if you will come back again, you will suffer the consequences of losing levels and we cannot afford to lose even an ounce of strength!"
"Yeah!" They all said in unison.
Hiro couldn’t believe he had just talked to millions of people, more than that he made them listen and even gave them vigor.
Everyone who was there to bear witness to Hiro inspiring millions, those who knew him before all of this couldn’t help but get goosebumps. Growth came in many forms and Hiro had done his part.
There wasn’t nearly enough potions to give them all but those with much lower levels were prioritised since they couldn’t afford a single death.
Hiro made this decision knowingly that harbinger generals don’t all have the same strength, some are weaker than others.

Kiro’s voice suddenly rang throughout Asgard as though he were the system making a world announcement.
