Chapter 485: The Ancient One
Upon hearing Kiro’s voice and seeing a video feed of him playing in the sky. Millions of Asgardians cheered.
"We’ve been here for approximately one minute. The ancient one has yet to appear, Felix and I have been fighting harbingers the second we teleported in. Didn’t have a chance to go live until now. I hope this works."
Upon saying that, thousands of messages appeared infront of him, only they were going way too fast for him to actually read them. Most of all, the torrent of messages were more distracting than he anticipated.
"I’ll need to turn off the chat, it is a little distracting. I don’t know how to slow it down. Can’t read anything."
He clicked the turn off chat option. Focused on the mountain of harbingers in front of them. Kiro knew the ancient one was lying in wait, lulling them into a false sense of security, once they let their guard down, the great god would pounce and destroy them in one fell swoop.
It was what Kiro would do if he was in its position.
Two harbingers appeared from a clearing, which were destroyed easily by Felix from a distance using his chains. They had decided to stay in the forest, the trees gave them a sense of security, as opposed going out in the open.
"Hey Felix, layoff using such powerful attacks. You can’t run out, not yet." Kiro warned.
"I know my limits. We have tons of potions, let me help, I won’t overexert myself." Felix pleaded.
Kiro did not say anything, he just nodded at him. Trusting him to remember his main role was support. He had yet to take out his staff, the harbingers coming for them weren’t half as powerful as the general.
It was very suspicious, they’d been there for several minutes yet the sky hadn’t changed. The harbingers coming for them were so weak that a single punch from him brought them at death’s door.
"Do you feel like, we’ve walked into a trap?" Felix voiced his concerns.
Kiro couldn’t dispute it either, he knew that this was way easier than it should’ve been. With a single appearance, the ancient one could annihilate them from existence, so what was it waiting for?
There was no time left to lose, he didn’t want to stick around and find out what the ancient one was planning for them. They already knew since the general told them they’d be slaves travelling the Galaxy to enslave other species too. Without even calling for it, by just thinking it, Ryu was already in his hand.
"I’ll ask you to take care of the hoards then while I try to execute this."
The moment it touched his hand the staff glowed a beautiful golden colour. Reminding Kiro just how little control he had over Ryu and this skill it seemed to take a liking to.
He was nothing but a medium, a channel for Ryu to run rampant and destroy anything in sight that he did not consider an ally.
Kiro kicked his feet off the ground, he was twenty meters in the air. He was almost as tall as the trees, he could see at a distance just heads marching their way.
It wasn’t a coincidence that they were getting an unlimited supply of harbingers. By the looks of things, it would take them hours to comb through each one.
As far as he was, he could see they were different species. It really solidified the general’s story, which is why he felt a little bad that he had to end them. They were stripped off their identities, homes and cultures. Brainwashed into following a very selfish god across the universe.
But he also took solice in the fact that, killing them would be the same as freeing them from the clutches of a cearly very evil god.
The only thing good about the world they were in was how many trees it had, with air fresher than anything they’d ever experienced before.
Kiro descended from his jump at incredible speeds, at just the blink of an eye he had buried Ryu deep into the world’s soil. The moment that he did, the ground opened wide with cracks.
Bright orange liquid started trickling out of the many big cracks caused by Ryu. The ground was bleeding orange. It was not ending there either, as Ryu was still planted on the ground. The staff looked like the epicenter of large tree roots coming from it, only the roots were openings into the very ground they stood on.
Felix jumped to the trees nearby. He was familiar with volcanoes in the game they just came from, Kiro had also told him any injury he got in here would be permanent out there. The last thing he wanted was death by being burnt to the bone to death.
The lava through the cracks was becoming more violent, spitting chunks out of the ground as though the world was offended by the disturbance that directly affected it.
The sound produced by the mess was ear splitting and Kiro received the brunt of it since he could see on a vibrational level. He never once let go of his staff, able to dodge the spits of lava attempting to burn his face, though not everything could be dodged.
His armour was tough but even it was started to peel off. He was starting to feel the heat while Felix stood at a distance trying his best to replenish his energy.
At his peripheral, he saw something moving faster than he could dodge. A tree branch had extended from meters away to stop him from executing his plan. The branch connected with the side of his face, almost knocking him off his feet.
Now he was certain, more than ever. The world they were in, the world they had thought was created by the ancient one, the space they thought would disappear if they destroyed it was indeed, the devourer of worlds, the evil god itself, the ancient one itself.
