Chapter 95: We need to talk

Angel woke up around three hours later and it took another extra hour to finish the discharge procedures.

While she leaving, Maxim came to meet her, ’’I have one last appointment to finish. Wait for me and I can drop you both at your place,’’ the man said after checking the time on his watch.

’’Don’t worry. I can manage by myself.’’

Maxim looked at Angel thoughtfully for a moment before he suggested, ’’Why don’t you come over and stay at our place for the time being?"

Being a man of few words, he did not speak a lot but it was evident that he was worried. In fact, Ivy was almost like a family to him so there were no questions of trust when she was around. But in her absence, getting someone to take care of Angel would be a tough task.

Daisy looked at the little girl who had lazily placed her head on her shoulder, playing with her dress, ’’There is no need. I am not working right now so I have all the time in the world to take care of her.’’

She was considering looking for a job but now, she had to do another mental calculation taking Angel’s health and Ivy’s departure into the picture.

When he could not convince her any further, Maxim finally obliged to Daisy’s wishes and went to his appointment.

As Daisy walked out of the hospital, she felt the warm sunrays hitting her body and it suddenly felt like an eternity had passed even though it has just been a few hours.

’’Mommy...’’ Angel mumbled, lifting her head to look at her mother.

Daisy looked at the girl who was staring at her with her wide emerald eyes sparkling with innocence, "You scared mommy,’’ she said with reprimanding gaze focused on the little bundle of warmth in her arms.

’’Mommy...’’ the girl started giggling as if nothing ever went wrong.

And Daisy felt like her heart that had been hanging high during this time finally settled down in peace. A soft smile appeared on her face as she took Angel to the benches in the hospital garden.

She placed the little girl on the grass, ’’Play around for a bit and mommy will book a cab.’’

Little Angel pouted when she was made to stand but nevertheless, she started flapping her hands as if they were a fairy’s wings.

Daisy was amused.

’Honk’

The loud noise made Daisy frown.

"Are you ignoring me or you have chosen this particular day to play deaf?" the familiar voice made Daisy look up at the man who was walking towards her.

She almost lost her grip on her phone.

Ryle looked away from Daisy and squatted on the ground, ’’There is our little princess, awake and shining like a sunflower already,’’ he tapped on the little girl’s nose.

Angel stopped her movements and looked at the man unblinkingly before she replicated his movement and tapped his nose, ’’Ra..eeel...’’ the little girl chirped.

Ryle was stunned for a moment before he chuckled, ’’Little princess, it’s Ryle."

"Raeel...’’

R-Y-L-E.’’

’’Ryal..’’

Ryle laughed at the way she kept complicating his name and saying it fluently but she was unable to grasp the easy pronunciation.

As if Daisy could read his mind, she spoke up, ’’It’s a kids’ thing. They can say the difficult words at times but not the easy.’’

’’Whatever you like,’’ Ryle ruffled Angel’s head and stood up as he turned to look at Daisy.

’’Why are you here?" Daisy asked, crossing a leg above the other as she leaned back on the bench and looked at him.

’’Don’t you know better?"

"Me?" Daisy blinked.

’’What else?" Ryle said in disbelief, ’’Don’t you know that the weather is so nice that I decided to come camping to hospital? New experiences and all."

Daisy’s lips twitched.

"I know I am handsome but if you sit there and stare at me for the whole day then you will be blinded by my beauty and that will not take us anywhere,’’ As he spoke, Ryle picked Angel in his arms effortlessly as he turned to walk away.

’’You are so self-obsessed,’’ came the voice from the woman followed by the sound of her approaching footsteps that brought a hint of a playful smile on Ryle’s face.

"Says the one who is more obsessed with me,’’ he pushed her buttons some more.

’’In your dreams. Yes.’’

Ryle suppressed the laughter that was about to erupt out of his chest. He was not going to stroke the woman’s wild ego but fuck, did the witty banters with her turned him on?

Ryle’s footsteps slowed down when they reached the car.

Daisy also stopped. The man turned around to look at her, ’’There is something we need to talk about.’’

Her brows rose, ’’I am listening.’’

’’You...’’

Before he could speak, Angel who was peacefully moving around in Ryle’s arms started crying.

Ryle tried to rock her and even though his movements were a tad bit awkward but he still seemed pretty efficient in handling her. The girl stopped crying for a moment before she cried harder again.

’’What happened? Did I do something wrong?"

For the first time, Daisy saw something akin to panic on Ryle’s cocky face. The expression passed in a split second but nevertheless, she caught sight of it.

"She is hungry,’’ Daisy pointed her chin at how the little girl was sucking her own fingers.

And following her implications, Ryle’s gaze instinctively shifted to Daisy’s chest.

Daisy looked at the man in disbelief but before she could say a word, he quickly averted his gaze and handed Angel to her. Ryle cleared his throat, ’’Get in the car,’’ Following his words, he even opened the car door for her as if he was nowhere the person who had stared at her chest just a moment ago.

Once Daisy entered the car, Ryle pulled out his phone and pressed a key flowing which the tinted glasses darkened even further.
