Chapter 303: Dividing Tasks!
Shen Kai’s voice had become hoarse.
"I argued with my own brother because of this sect. I...I stood against him, believing I was protecting the future of the White Moon Sect. Devoted my life to fighting those monsters, thinking every battle, every sacrifice, every decision I made carried meaning."
He slowly raised his head, but his unfocused eyes no longer seemed to be looking at anyone inside the room.
"So...what exactly was I protecting?"
The question wasn’t directed toward Su Mo or anyone else.
It was a question he asked himself.
"The man I admired..."
"...the man I believed embodied righteousness..."
"...turned out to be the source of the very evil we dedicated our lives to destroying."
His shoulders trembled almost imperceptibly.
Not from anger or fear.
But from a despair so deep that even words could no longer fully express it.

No one spoke.
Su Mo quietly looked away, while Yang Qingxi silently lowered her eyes. Even Song Meilin, who had experienced a similar collapse not long ago, could only watch with a complicated expression. She understood better than anyone what Shen Kai was feeling because she had walked through that same darkness only moments earlier.
Shen Xing’s eyes gradually reddened as she looked at her father. She wanted to comfort him, yet every sentence that came to mind felt meaningless before such overwhelming pain. After hesitating for several moments, she instinctively reached out and gently tugged at Wu Yuna’s sleeve.
"...Mom."
Wu Yuna lowered her expressionless gaze toward Shen Xing.
After remaining silent for several seconds, she slowly stood up.
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, she quietly walked over to Shen Kai without saying a single word. Her face still lacked any visible emotion, yet when she finally stopped in front of him, she gently opened her arms and embraced him.
The movement was simple, almost mechanical.
Yet to Shen Kai... It was enough.
The familiar warmth that he had believed was lost forever quietly returned after so many years. Feeling Wu Yuna’s presence once again, the composure he had desperately maintained finally crumbled.
At that moment, Shen Kai, the Great Elder of the White Moon Sect... Yang Qingxi’s granduncle... broke down completely.
---
Some time passed before Shen Kai finally managed to regain control over his emotions. The tears had long since dried, and although traces of sorrow still lingered in his eyes, the wavering old man from moments ago was nowhere to be seen.
The familiar composure of the White Moon Sect’s Great Elder gradually returned, but this time it was accompanied by a quiet fury that everyone in the room could clearly feel.
He slowly raised his head, his gaze colder than before.
"I can’t tolerate this any longer," he said in a low voice, each word carrying an unwavering resolve.
"If everything that has happened to the White Moon Sect was orchestrated by that old monster from the very beginning, then this farce ends with me. I once swore to eliminate the Pishachas and protect humanity. Since Wu Taeyong is the source of everything, then I shall fulfil, that oath by ending him instead."
His fists slowly tightened as he finished speaking. "For my oath... for my revenge... and for every comrade who died believing they were fighting for justice."

The room remained quiet for a brief moment before Su Mo finally spoke. "Qingxi’s Granduncle..."
Before he could continue, Shen Kai raised a hand to interrupt him.
"Just call me Granduncle as well."
The sudden correction caught Yang Qingxi completely off guard. Her heartbeat inexplicably skipped a beat, and a faint blush quietly crept onto her cheeks as she lowered her eyes, pretending nothing had happened.
Su Mo naturally didn’t shy away and quickly adapted.
"Alright, Granduncle." He nodded without hesitation before his expression became serious again. "What I wanted to say is that Wu Taeyong is still a Nascent Soul powerhouse. Unless we successfully ambush him, we’ll inevitably have to face not only him but also the entire Pishacha army under his control."
Yang Qingxi lightly frowned. "But... can we really ambush someone like him?" she asked. "Honestly, it doesn’t sound very likely."
"We can certainly try," Su Mo shrugged before calmly adding, "But plans shouldn’t rely on luck. Let’s assume the worst-case scenario from the very beginning. If the ambush fails, someone has to keep Wu Taeyong occupied while the others deal with everything else."
His gaze shifted toward Shen Kai, and he spoke, "I’ll handle Wu Taeyong."
Then he looked around the room.
"Can the rest of you deal with the army of Pishachas?"
Shen Kai answered almost immediately, "I’ll fight them to my last breath."
Yang Qingxi couldn’t help rolling her eyes.
"Granduncle, don’t make it sound like we should already prepare for your funeral."
Shen Kai’s expression fell.
Yang Qingxi’s lips curved into a small smile before she confidently continued, "Leave the Pishacha army to me. After my attacks, whatever survives can be cleaned up by you and the cultivators from your faction."
Shen Kai immediately shook his head and rejected her dangerous idea. "No. The main fighting force should be us old fellas. You youngsters, should focus on supporting us."
Yang Qingxi gave a small snort before quietly releasing a portion of her cultivation aura.

The spiritual pressure spreading throughout the room instantly caused Shen Kai’s eyes to widen.
"Golden Core Stage?!"
He couldn’t help taking a sharp breath.
Earlier, he had already considered Su Mo a once-in-a-generation genius.
Now... His own grandniece had quietly reached the very same realm.
Shen Xing was even more astonished. "Sister Qingxi... weren’t you still in the Foundation Building Realm yesterday?"
Yang Qingxi nodded and answered as though she were talking about something completely ordinary.
"Yeah, I felt my cultivation was a little lacking. So I improved it."
Those words landed inside Shen Kai’s and Shen Xing’s minds like complete nonsense.
Song Meilin silently covered her face. She didn’t want to recall the absurd scene from before.
The father and daughter naturally arrived at the same conclusion she had forced herself to accept earlier.
Yang Qingxi must have been hiding her true cultivation all along.
