Chapter 302: The Truth & Broke Down!
Silence quietly filled the room.
Shen Xing listened with sparkling eyes, clearly hearing this story for the first time in such detail.
Having grown up inside the sect, she couldn’t help feeling admiration for those legendary predecessors whose sacrifices had protected countless lives.
Song Meilin, however, lowered her eyes. She had once admired that same story.
She had believed every single word of it.
Now... Knowing the truth behind everything, it no longer sounded inspiring.
It sounded cruel.
Wu Taeyong the source of Pishachas, acted like a hero fighting against them sacrificing himself. When in truth, it was just a cover up to fake his death.
Su Mo and Yang Qingxi quietly exchanged a glance before looking back at Shen Kai.
Neither of them interrupted while he spoke because they understood exactly what that story meant to him.
It wasn’t merely history. It was the very reason he had devoted decades of his life to this sect.
Which also meant.. What came next would likely destroy that belief completely.

Yang Qingxi quietly looked toward Su Mo, silently asking him to explain.
She still remembered Song Meilin’s earlier evaluation of her comforting skills.
Perhaps... This time, Su Mo would do better.
Su Mo gave an almost imperceptible nod before turning back toward Shen Kai. He remained silent for several seconds, carefully choosing his words.
"Qingxi’s Granduncle... There are some things we discovered today. They’re difficult to believe."
"And I wish they weren’t true."
Shen Kai’s smile gradually disappeared having a bad premonition in his heart. "What are you trying to say?"
Su Mo looked directly into his eyes.
"Your idol...Wu Taeyong...is still alive."
*Boom!*
The words landed heavily inside the room.
"And the story you just told us...isn’t the complete truth."
"I think...you deserve to know what actually happened."
Shen Kai pupils contracted in shock, unable to believe what he was hearing.
However, after a moment of thought, He frowned deeply and obvious displeasure appeared on his face.
"What nonsense are you talking about, kid?" He instinctively took a step forward.
"Just because you’re Qingxi’s—"
His words abruptly stopped.
Su Mo quietly raised his hand toward the hooded figure standing nearby.
Without saying anything, the figure slowly removed the hood covering her face.

The familiar appearance underneath instantly froze Shen Kai in place.
Time itself seemed to stop.
"...Yuna?"
His pupils trembled.
Before anyone else could react, Shen Xing had already rushed forward.
"Mom!"
She threw herself toward Wu Yuna, hugging her tightly as though afraid she would disappear again if she let go.
Wu Yuna remained standing quietly.
She neither returned the embrace nor pushed Shen Xing away.
She simply looked down at her daughter with calm, emotionless eyes.
That expression... More than anything else... Made Shen Kai’s heart sink.
"Yu..." His lips trembled.
"...Yuna?"
His voice cracked halfway through her name.
He slowly took another step forward, unable to tear his eyes away from the woman he had believed dead for so many years.
His breathing unconsciously became uneven.
She was alive.
She was standing right before him.
He should’ve been overjoyed.
Yet...Why did her eyes feel so unfamiliar?
Why was there no surprise? No happiness? No sadness of parting?
Nothing.
It was as though the person standing before him doesn’t recognise them
His hands unconsciously clenched.

"Yuna..." He swallowed with difficulty.
"...are you alright?"
Yang Qingxi quietly pursed her lips before gently explaining,
"It’s alright, Granduncle. Su Mo already broke Grandaunt’s brainwashing. She remembers everything now, but recovering her emotions will take time."
She had intended those words to reassure him.
Instead... Shen Kai’s complexion visibly paled.
He wasn’t stupid. There was a lot of information in Qingxi’s words just now.
If Wu Yuna had been brainwashed... Then someone must have done it.
If someone had done it... Then everything Su Mo said moments earlier...Suddenly no longer sounded impossible.
The dots connected leading to a terrifying possibility. Which he didn’t dare to believe.
The confidence that had supported him for decades quietly developed its first crack.
His gaze slowly shifted from Wu Yuna... to Su Mo.
The composure he had maintained until now became noticeably strained. Even his usually steady voice carried an almost imperceptible tremor.
"Su Mo..."
He paused, as though gathering the courage to continue.
Then, lowering both his pride and his guard, he quietly spoke,
"I beg you... Please tell me! What...is really going on?!"
---
After that, Su Mo slowly recounted everything from the very beginning without hiding a single detail.
He told Shen Kai about Wu Haruto’s attempt to recruit them, their refusal, the encounter with the Old Ancestor hidden beneath the sect, their capture, and the desperate escape that had barely allowed them to survive.
He spoke about Song Meilin being forcefully pushed into a life-and-death breakthrough, the interrogation of Wu Yuna, and every horrifying secret they had uncovered one after another.

Whenever Shen Kai instinctively looked toward Wu Yuna with disbelief, she quietly nodded to confirm Su Mo’s words. Her expression remained as emotionless as before, yet that very lack of emotion carried far more weight than any tears could have.
Every confirmation felt like another nail being driven into the foundation Shen Kai had spent decades building with unwavering faith.
The room gradually fell into complete silence.
By the time Su Mo finished speaking, Shen Kai still stood in the same place, yet he looked like an entirely different person.
The straight back that had always carried the dignity of the White Moon Sect’s Great Elder now seemed slightly bent, while the light within his eyes had quietly faded, leaving behind only exhaustion and disbelief.
He lowered his head.
"...Ha..."
A faint laugh escaped his lips.
"...Hahaha..."
The laughter slowly grew louder, yet there wasn’t the slightest trace of joy within it. Instead, it sounded empty, almost as though he were laughing at the man he himself had become. Before long, tears silently gathered in the corners of his eyes, though he stubbornly refused to let them fall.
"What..." He paused for a long moment before speaking again.
"...have I been doing all these years?"
