Chapter 62: You Ruined Me

Vivian saw her parents walking into the mansion. They sighted Arianna dancing with their husband.

They gave her a scornful look, which she was oblivious to because she was stiff in Daemon’s hands as he tried to lead the dance.

After giving one last deadly glare, they turned their heads away and walked towards their daughter.

Vivian gave them kisses on the cheeks before she directed them towards one of the guest rooms, the only place she could have a private conversation with them without anyone eavesdropping.

"What made you look so tired now? You look so exhausted, and you seem to have lost weight too." Mrs. Griffin gripped her daughter’s arm and gave her a long scan. "Are you eating well too?"

Vivian snatched her hand from her mother and walked to take a seat on the bed.

"I’m alright. But that bitch is starting to do too much. I need to get her out of my mind right now." She huffed as she slightly shook her head, hoping that would get Arianna out of her mind.

Mr. and Mrs. Griffin both glanced at each other before they took a seat on the couch.

"So," Vivian started. "You said you had something to tell me? What is it?"

Mr. Griffin glanced at his wife again before he parted his lips to speak.

"Arianna is not who you think she is," he said.

Vivian’s eyebrows furrowed into a slight frown as she patiently waited for him to continue.

"She’s the daughter of Jeremy Wesley, Don of La Cosa Nostra."

Vivian’s heart instantly dropped to her feet.

She wasn’t oblivious to the underworld since her family was lightly involved in it. But what she didn’t expect was that Arianna would be related to the most fearful man in New York.

"Are you sure about this, Father? She claimed to be an orphan when she came here years ago. Just because they share the same last name doesn’t necessarily mean they’re related."

"They are," he deadpanned, obviously still shaken by the revelation.

After seeing Arianna attend his anniversary with Daemon Langford, he’d been curious to know what her actual relationship with him was, something they weren’t letting out to the public other than the fact that they were married.

He’d decided to do the basic background check on her, trying to find her family or the orphanage she’d stayed at, but he couldn’t find anything important.

It left him with no choice but to thoroughly check her background. He’d always suspected her of being more than she let on, considering how she survived Logan and Vivian when they’d tried to kill her.

He knew about it before Vivian had told him herself when she’d suddenly reappeared.

Nothing was making sense until recently, when the war between Jeremy Wesley and Crisanto Sanchez became a hot topic in the underworld.

The last name was easily dismissible, but not to him, at least not anymore.

Since Arianna didn’t make her social debut like the rest of her siblings, he ended up ordering one of his men to stalk her.

This morning, they’d found her speaking to Josephine Wesley. That was when he concluded that she was related to Jeremy Wesley.

"He’s her father," he continued. "And you’ve been trying to kill the Don’s daughter."

Vivian’s heart fell to her feet once again.

From the little she knew about Jeremy Wesley, he was a fearful man, and so were his children. But she didn’t think that Arianna would be one of them.

That only meant that if Arianna truly wanted to, she could kill her and dispose of her body somewhere nobody would be able to find her. Her parents couldn’t do anything even if they wanted to.

Beads of sweat started to appear on her skin as the fear grew.

"What am I going to do now? Just let her ruin my life?" She questioned.

"You shouldn’t do anything to provoke her for now. You’ve already done enough, and I’m sure you know if she wanted to, she could delete you from the face of the earth with a snap of her fingers," her mother warned sternly. "Although I doubt she isn’t already planning that. She’s probably waiting for the right time."

Vivian glared at her mother as she bit her teeth. "You’re supposed to be comforting me."

"But why would I? You brought yourself into this situation. The only thing you can do right now is steer clear of her. Tell Logan to give her everything you two stole from her before it’s too late. You should never underestimate the revenge of a quiet woman."

"But—"

"That’s enough," Mr. Griffin interrupted. "Arguing won’t solve any issue." Then he turned to his daughter. "Stay away from her. She’s not good news, and she’s never been good news. You’re pregnant. Yours and the baby’s safety should be your priority, and not getting rid of some woman."

Vivian wished she could listen to her father, but his words only entered one ear and flew out the other.

Now that it was clear that Arianna was the daughter of one of the most powerful mafia families in New York, she was more than determined to get rid of her.

Logan had been staring at her the entire time she walked in with her bodyguard, and she didn’t need an extra brain to know he was falling for her again. Everything she’d worked hard for was soon going to go down the drain.

But that would only happen if she didn’t do anything about it.

Instead of stretching the same topic, Vivian decided to change.

"Has Levi given you the territory yet?" She asked.

Vivian knew Levi Sokolov because she’d seen him at her parents’ home and anniversary a few times.

She couldn’t help but admire how dangerously handsome he looked, but there was some kind of dark aura that reeked out of him, one that made her realize he wasn’t a normal person.

"He hasn’t," Mr. Griffin said, frustration evident in his tone. "I’ve done everything he asked for. The search team that I lent to him has all done everything that he wanted, but out of dissatisfaction, he killed them all."

Mrs. Griffin instantly stiffened on the couch after hearing her husband’s words.

"He killed them all?" Vivian asked, her jaw dropped.

"He did," Mr. Griffin sighed. "I have no idea what he’s looking for. And the worst part, the psycho doesn’t want to tell me what it is. He’s killing every single one of my men out of frustration, and I’m starting to get tired of it already." Then he pinched his forehead in frustration, trying to calm himself down. "I’m only being patient because I need to establish my territory as soon as possible."

Vivian wanted to ask her father why he wanted to join the mafia so badly, but she thought against it.

That was his business, and she couldn’t bring herself to be too concerned. She was already occupied by Arianna, and that was the only thing that concerned her.

Vivian stood up.

"I wish you the best, Father, but I hope you don’t forget how dangerous these people are."

Then she turned her back to leave.

Outside, she saw Arianna dancing around with her husband, Daemon.

Both of them looked happy, so in sync that some of the guests stopped dancing to admire the couple.

Vivian’s eyes strained to a closer corner, and she sighted Logan, watching the couple with so much distaste on his face.

He didn’t even bother to hide since no one was looking at him.

Still, Vivian felt it was wrong.

She’d been gone for a few minutes, and Logan didn’t even bother to search for her. His eyes were on Arianna, watching her every move like a hawk.

Her chest burned with an ache, but it quickly vanished when she remembered her plans.

One way or the other, she will get rid of Arianna, and one day, she is going to celebrate it.

Oblivious to the dark thoughts sent her way, Arianna tried to keep up with Daemon as he carefully guided her on the dance floor.

She wasn’t totally an expert when it came to dancing, but she’d attended a few dance classes when she was younger, which helped to sharpen her skills; years of lack of practice made her feel like she didn’t know what she was doing.

However, the way Daemon carefully led her made her worries fly out of the window with ease.

His dark eyes were fixed on her as if he wanted to drink her up. Looking at him made her realize just how bushy his eyebrows were, while they framed his face so perfectly.

Then he leaned closer, his grip on her waist turned firmer.

Arianna tried to concentrate and not lose focus.

She felt his lips touch her earlobe. Instantly, goosebumps spiked from her pores, traveling across her body with the speed of sound.

Daemon lingered, drinking her scent before he whispered.

"You’ve ruined me in ways you don’t even realize yet."
