Chapter 46: Give Up Your Position
"Is she dead?" A heavy voice questioned while staring at the woman tied to a chair. "She’s been sleeping for hours already. I’m sure I didn’t pour that much Chlorofoam into the napkin earlier."
"She’s a weak girl, no wonder she’s sleeping so much." One with dreads that look like they haven’t been washed in ages commented. Then his gaze fell on her smooth legs and thighs. "I just hope Boss lets us have fun with her before he kills her off."
The first one shook his head. "Can you not think about anything else other than sex?"
"I can not," the dread man replied flatly like it shouldn’t be a question to even begin with.
The first man was about to say something but Trevor immediately cut him off.
"Boss is coming here soon. Keep your mouth shut if you don’t want to get your tongue cut off," he warned, glaring at both of them.
Instantly, they snapped their mouths shut.
The last thing they needed was angering their boss. Last night, they heard gunshots from inside. And then, two bodies were carried out.
They recognized the men. It was their fellow soldiers. Their friends. Their boss had killed them.
It wasn’t the first time it had happened, but no one wished to be the next in line.
Their boss was a ruthless person. He didn’t care who had to kill to vent his anger at all. And they? They were just peasants for him to throw away whenever he felt like it.
Thinking about the last time he’d tortured an enemy made them shudder in fright.
"Before I do that, why the lady? I mean, is she related to an enemy and that’s why she’s here?" The dread man asked, with a cocked eyebrow. "It’s not like I’m complaining that she’s here. We can have a good time with her later if you know what I mean." Then he laughed like a hyena, baring his yellow teeth that would wake a corpse up from their slumber.
Trevor glared at him as if he’d lost his mind. Then he sighed.
"She’s the wife of Daemon Langford."
Both the men’s eyes widened in shock.
"That bastard is married?" They said in unison.
"The boss wants to use the lady to get Daemon to do whatever he wants."
The dread man’s lips stretched into a butter colored smile, rubbing his hands together like a housefly.
"No wonder she looks so special. She’s married to that idiot." He seized Arianna’s unconscious body, sticking out his frosted tongue and licked his lips. "I can’t wait to have her already."
"Have who?" A voice suddenly asked, making all three men stand upright.
The sudden presence of Levi sent chills running down their spine.
"I asked you a question!" His voice roared, echoing off the corners of the walls.
The dread man looked up at Levi, but found Trevor glaring at him from the corners of his eyes, signaling him to shut up.
But he threw his warnings away.
"I was just thinking, boss, after you’re done with her, maybe we could pass her around. She has such smooth legs, I want to run down those thighs."
Levi glared at him for far too long that it made the dread man shift uncomfortably, inching away from him.
"Is that so?" Levi asked, his tone low and threatening. "I don’t see anything wrong with that." The dread man instantly raised his head to look at him in shock. "You’ll get her once I’m done with her."
He smiled in anticipation, his gaze moving back to look at Arianna who was still sound asleep, obviously to the dark thoughts that were running through his mind.
Meanwhile, the whole time, Arianna had been listening to them.
She’d been awake, listening to every single thing they’d been saying.
From the looks of things, she’d been kidnapped by Daemon’s enemies because she was some sort of a weakness to him.
But why would the other man call Daemon a bastard? Was it only an insult or it had a greater meaning?
She couldn’t tell.
Another thing was for sure, the main enemy was present.
"Wake her up!"
She heard footsteps closing in on her before she felt the sharpest sting land on her cheeks.
Her eyes snapped open due to the pain.
She glared at the person before her. His dirty dreads and unkempt appearance fueling her range.
"She has beautiful eyes too," he gooned.
Arianna ignored him and quickly scanned the room.
She was in what seemed to a small office.
There were chairs and tables available, with good lightning. Portraits were hanging on the wall and right beside them was a tall man, at least 6’5 with dark hair and dark eyes, a neatly shaved stubble right before his lips.
There was only one thing that came to Arianna’s head when she saw him.
The devil.
He was as handsome as the devil, while some kind of demon creeped around him.
He stared at her with the kind of empty eyes that seemed to have lost every bit of feeling or empathy in them.
Out of the four of them, he was the only one who gave off the aura of someone who had a sick and twisted soul.
He was the boss, Daemon’s enemy.
"Who are you?" She asked.
She knew quite a few people in the underworld but she’d never come across someone who looked like him which could only mean he was one of those who hid their identity, or he wasn’t a part of the underworld.
But a man like that didn’t look like someone who would pass on the opportunity of being involved in the underworld.
"Levi Sokolov," he responded, his voice deep and threatening, the type that sent chills running down her spine in an instant.
She gulped down her saliva, sudden fear gripping her from nowhere.
She’d never heard his name before, which also meant that he was one of those who hid their identities in the underworld.
"What do you want?" She demanded.
Usually people like him have a score to settle with their enemies, and she was a gateway for him to settle whatever score he had with Daemon.
Just thinking about how she’d been kidnapped all because she was acquainted with Daemon made her blood boil.
She should be at home, taking a nap, not to be stuck in an unknown office, tied to a chair while a man glaring at her as if she killed his family.
"I don’t need much, at least not from you, but from Daemon, your husband."
Arianna wanted to breathe a sigh of relief since he didn’t want anything from her. But then again, she was tied up to a chair.
"Since you want something from Daemon himself, why didn’t you just kidnap and get what you want?" Then it clicked on her.
Levi grinned when it dawned on her.
"You want to use me to get to Daemon."
"That’s right. You’re his wife afterall. He cares about you, so he must be willing to lay down his life for you, right?"
Arianna was tempted to clear the misunderstanding about daemon and her only having a marriage contract.
Even if he acted like he cared about her—her mind suddenly flew to the time she’d spent at his house, the way he’d fed her and helped her take her drugs. His touch was soft to the skin, careful, as if she was going to shatter if he applied too much pressure.
Arianna shook her head, returning to the present situation.
"You’ve got it all wrong, I promise you. Daemon doesn’t care about me," she tried to sound as honest as possible but Levi only stared at her like a jester trying to crack up a joke. "I bet if you called him now and told him you have me captured, he’s not going to care about that."
"Is that so?" He asked, stretching his hand towards Trevor who quickly handed him his phone. "Why don’t we try that? What’s his number?"
Arianna quickly called the numbers, surprising herself because she never knew she had his number saved off head.
The phone rang once and the call was connected immediately.
"Levi," Daemon growled. "Where is she?!" He roared into the phone so loudly that Levi had to take the phone a few inches away from his ears.
"Relax now. She’s right here with me," Levi replied, winking at Arianna who cringed internally. "Do you want to say something to him?" He asked her.
Daemon’s senses instantly heightened.
"Arianna! My love, are you okay?" He asked, concern marring his tone.
’Shut the fuck up!’ She yelled in her thoughts.
Now, Levi was certain they were closer that they appeared to me.
Arianna’s lips were thinned into a line. She couldn’t bring herself to answer him.
"Answer him," Levi insisted.
Arianna glared at him while Daemon patiently waited.
"Daemon..."
There was silence afterwards.
"I’ll make sure you get out of there. I promise."
"I hate to ruin that fantasy, Daemon, but she’s not leaving until I pay you back."
"What do you mean?"
