Chapter 42: Can’t Intimidate Me

"Now tell me, what was she talking to you about?" Vivian demanded while her gaze landed coldly on Arianna. "Has she come to spoil my name? Or to accuse me of one or two again?"

Leah didn’t reply immediately.

She stood up from the couch and walked towards Vivian, stopping only about three feet away from her, a grin to her face.

"Why? Are you feeling guilty?" She asked. Vivian cocked up an eyebrow at her in question, wondering what she meant. "You know what you did was wrong, and now, you can’t even relax while being in the same space as Arianna."

Vivian clenched her jaw because Leah was terribly right.

Arianna still hadn’t done anything about revealing the fact that both she and Logan had tried to kill her not too long ago.

Valid, she had no evidence even if she wanted to make any claims. No one would believe her without any proof.

That should be more than enough for Vivian to feel relaxed. But what she felt was far more different from comfort.

Arianna was like a ticking time bomb at the moment, she could explode at any time, and Vivian feared she’ll suffer with great effect.

"That’s not true," Vivian said, puffing up her chest as she tried to cover up her fears. Then she turned to Arianna. "Whatever you’re planning, it’s not going to work out for you."

Arianna also stood up from the couch, clutching her purse in her hand as she walked over to Vivian who took a step back.

She immediately felt embarrassed. It took a great amount of control not to facepalm herself at that moment for being scared of Arianna.

"You shouldn’t be scared of me, Vivian. I would never hurt you," Arianna said in the most sincere voice that made Vivian almost believe.

She quickly shook her head to throw away those thoughts. This was Arianna after all.

"You shouldn’t act all worked up. Remember, you’re pregnant. Stress isn’t good for the baby."

Vivian narrowed her eyes at Arianna, suspicious of her.

She’d been expecting her to curse at her, try to kick her or get violent with her at least, to show she was hurt.

But Arianna hadn’t done any of that.

She stared at Vivian for a second longer, a subtle smile on her lips before she turned her gaze to Leah and waved her goodbye.

"Remember what I told you, Leah."

Leah waved back.

Once the door clicked shut, she turned to Vivian.

"Why are you here?"

"I’ll tell you that only after you tell me why that bitch is here. Are you two plotting against me?" Then her eyes narrowed. "Are you taking sides with her?"

Leah scoffed. She couldn’t believe her ears.

She couldn’t believe this was the same woman Arianna had brought to her a few years ago. The same woman who acted as if she couldn’t hurt a fly, talk more of a human.

It was almost as if Vivian had forgotten everything she’d done to Arianna.

"You betrayed her and you’re here accusing me of taking her side?" Leah snickered, her hand over her lips. "Whose side am I supposed to take? Yours?"

"Logan and I were already together before she came in between us," Vivian hissed with clenched fists, as if that action was going to pass her pointless fact across.

Leah scoffed. "That doesn’t change the fact that you had to be a mistress first before you got the ring."

Vivian instantly reared back as if she’d been slapped in the face. She couldn’t feel her face, her hand or her legs.

Leah smiled in satisfaction at Vivian’s expression.

"Get out of my office, Vivian," she said as she walked back to her seat.

Vivian glared at her back, nails digging into her palm before she stormed out of the office.

She quickly took the elevator, and directly went out of the company.

Then she spotted her.

Arianna was about to enter her own car but she paused when she heard Vivian calling out her name.

She looked up to find Vivian marching towards her four inch heels. Despite being pregnant, she still rocked her heels with wavering.

"Why were you discussing it with Leah earlier?" Vivian questioned the moment she stood in front of Arianna. "Are you plotting against me? Do you really think you can take me down?" Vivian scoffed at just the thought. "You’re only a lowly orphan who doesn’t have anything for herself. You think after marrying Daemon Langford, you suddenly have some power? You think with this flashy car that he lent you, you can intimidate me?"

Arianna scanned Vivian from head to toe, her eyes lingering at her tiny baby bump that was barely even there.

If she wanted, she could have both Logan and Vivian kidnapped and killed. In fact, if she wanted to, she could kill Vivian right now and have her body feed to the tigers Cassian kept as a pet back at their mansion.

She could do all of that. But was it worth it?

It wasn’t. Death was an easy way out for them, considering what they’d done to her.

She wanted to snatch every effort she’d put in them, her blood, sweat and tears that she’d wasted just to show how much she loved and cared for them.

She wouldn’t rest until they realized it was too late for them.

"I’m not trying to intimidate you, Vivian," she replied truthfully. She hadn’t even done anything yet and Vivian was already getting intimidated by her. "I’m not even trying to do anything to you, yet."

Vivian didn’t believe her.

"Then what were you discussing back in there with Leah?" She demanded.

"Why are you so concerned about that? Are you...scared that I might have told Leah to tarnish your image?" Arianna asked with a sly grin.

Vivian’s lips thinned. She knew she was big, but if Arianna was trying to get back at her by going after her career first, then she was in deep shit.

"Like I said, stress isn’t good for either you or the baby. Take care of yourself." Arianna then blew a kiss, got into the car and drove off.
