Chapter 1114: Chapter 1054: No Bail

"We have the right to know, don’t we?"

Sienna Johnson was desperately trying to find out what happened; they were taken away so haphazardly.

"You’ll find out once we get to the Police Station."

Both of their hands were cuffed, the cold handcuffs against their skin were quite uncomfortable.

The Police Station wasn’t far; it took about ten minutes to get there.

Upon arriving, entering the Police Station, Sienna Johnson and Adrian Desmond were separated and detained. They knew resisting would be futile and followed the police’s instructions.

At Sienna Johnson’s strong insistence, she called Sue White to explain her situation.

"Saphire, do you know any good criminal lawyers? Quickly find one for me; Adrian and I have been arrested."

"Do you know who died?"

"They didn’t say."

Sue White instructed, "Remember, no matter what the police ask, just say you don’t know. Wait until the lawyer arrives before saying anything."

"Okay, I’m still okay, but I’m worried about Adrian. The police found a gun on him."

In Abyanabad, it’s as normal for a man to carry a handgun as it is to wear a watch, but it’s different in Orienta; firearms are strictly controlled.

"I’ll come and we’ll discuss it."

"Saphire, I’m a bit scared."

"Calm down! Things aren’t as bad as you imagine." Sue White reassured her.

"Who is calling so late?" Herbert Young, wearing pajamas, hugged Sue White from behind, his voice still thick with sleep.

"Sienna is in trouble." Sue White said, her face serious.

Herbert Young glanced at Sue White’s expression and knew it was something significant. "What’s happened?" he asked.

"She and Adrian have been accused of murder!"

"How could that be?"

"I need to go to Riverfront City, leave Robin in your care."

It was snowing outside, and Herbert Young couldn’t let her go alone, "It’s snowing outside, impossible to drive. No, you can’t go; let’s leave tomorrow morning when the snow stops."

"I must leave now!"

As lawyers, they knew the importance of time; every second delay could mean the loss of evidence and the possibility of winning.

"I’ll go with you!"

Herbert Young called his secretary, who picked up after several rings, "Which fool calls in the middle of the night, I curse your whole family."

"Lily, it’s Herbert Young; I need to leave urgently. Come to my house now and help take care of my son."

"Lawyer Young, it’s snowing now, and it’s early morning... how can an employer be so demanding?"

"I’ll give you triple the daily wage," Herbert Young promised favorable terms.

"..."

"A week off."

"Deal." Lily was no longer sleepy; trading one night’s sleep for a week’s vacation was worth it.

"Come quickly, we’re about to set off!"

"Yes."

The two quickly washed up, changed clothes and Herbert Young called a classmate in Riverfront City to inquire about any murder cases. Due to the short time, the news hadn’t spread yet, so they didn’t know.

Herbert Young in dark suit, Sue White similarly in dark professional attire, when Lily came in dressed in casual wear, she mistakenly thought she entered a law firm.

"Hello Boss, hello Boss Lady."

After Herbert Young and Sue White got married, they jointly opened a law firm. The firm was currently small, consisting of only them and Lily as a secretary and assistant.

Because Sue White’s ex-husband ran away with funds and a lover, leaving Sue a pile of debts, Herbert Young demonstrated his sincerity by transferring nearly 1.5 million worth of assets to Sue White’s account.

The firm’s legal person was himself, so if there were debts in the future, it wouldn’t affect Sue White much.

Sue White addressed Lily, "Lily, I entrust my son to you."

"Boss Lady, rest assured. I promise to raise Robin healthily." Lily said earnestly.

"You think you’re raising a pig, healthily?" Herbert Young teased.

"Haha..."

After Herbert Young settled household matters, he left with Sue White. Fortunately, the snow had stopped, though temperatures were low and roads icy, prompting Herbert Young to drive very cautiously.

...

They arrived at Riverfront City by eight the next day. The trip that usually took over three hours took nearly seven.

Both gulped down large cups of coffee and headed straight to the Police Station.

Sue White went to find Sienna Johnson, and Herbert Young went to find Adrian Desmond.

Sue White sat beside Sienna Johnson, asking questions on their behalf, "Hello, I am Sienna Johnson’s lawyer. My client still doesn’t know what has happened; can you tell us what’s going on?"

"Someone named Augusta Rafael was murdered."

"Augusta Rafael?" Sienna Johnson was shell-shocked; she had just spoken to her yesterday.

"Yes! People saw you arguing, and later she was dead. So we suspect, possibly because of this, you killed her."

Sue White said, "Just because the deceased and my client had a quarrel, you assume my client killed her?

Do you know how many people argue daily in Orienta? If arguments always led to murder, Orientans would be extinct."

"Of course, there’s other evidence."

"What evidence?" Sue White asked nervously.

"We found a dagger at the crime scene with Adrian’s fingerprints on it."

"Does it have my client’s fingerprints on it?" Sue White continued.

"No."

"Since not, why arrest my client? My client has no suspicion."

"They are married; we suspect she might shield the criminal, escaping penalty."

Sue White pressed with authority, "Then convict Adrian first, then deal with my client. I want to bail out my client."

Sienna Johnson met bail conditions and was easily bailed.

Outside the Police Station’s entrance, Sienna Johnson only saw Herbert Young coming out and did not see Adrian Desmond.

"Where’s Adrian?" Sienna Johnson asked.

"The police consider Adrian a high-risk individual and disagree with the bail," Herbert Young stated.

Sienna Johnson said, "Then quickly gather evidence to get him out."

Sue White assured Sienna Johnson, "Don’t worry, we’ll help you and Adrian."

"Okay."

...

Augusta Rafael was dead, her carotid artery cut, leading to fatal blood loss; a dagger beside her body had Adrian Desmond’s fingerprints on it.

Flaws abundant, were they suggesting Adrian had no wit?

After killing, leaves a dagger with one’s prints beside the body.

Sienna Johnson and Sue White actively sought evidence to clear Adrian’s injustice.
