Chapter 1067: Chapter 1009: The Final Revelry

Sienna Johnson handed over a large plate full of lamb blood to the kitchen, asking them to take care of it.

Once the blood had been drained, Adrian Desmond started skinning the sheep with skillful moves, clearly not his first time butchering a sheep.

"Have you butchered sheep before?"

"I did during my time in the military. I’ve butchered pigs and cows too."

"Seems like I underestimated you." Sienna squatted nearby, watching him expertly skin the sheep.

With the whole sheepskin peeled off, Sienna noticed the fur was shiny black. She decided to have it tanned into material for making clothes, planning to make a hand muff for her grandmother before winter arrived.

Adrian was about to cut open the sheep’s belly when Sienna suddenly said, "I’ll handle the innards."

"It’s quite dirty."

"No worries, it’s been a long time since I’ve done this, my hands are itching to try."

Adrian: ...

Sienna fetched some medical gloves, using a scalpel, which Adrian noticed, and commented, "You wouldn’t let me use a knife that’s slaughtered similar animals, but you’re okay with a scalpel?"

"This scalpel is being used for the first time."

It was made from special materials by Eastminster Pharmaceutical Factory, durable and more resistant to bacteria, but not yet mass-produced.

Sienna cut open the sheep’s belly, and the entrails flowed out, Curly squatted beside, unafraid.

As Sienna processed them, she explained to Curly what each organ was and its function, making it seem as though they were in an anatomy class.

"Mom, can we fry lamb liver?" Curly suggested, as Sienna withdrew a bloody liver.

"The liver is for detoxification, full of toxins, you shouldn’t eat it." Adrian commented.

"Sheep are different from pigs; they only eat grass, so their liver doesn’t have many toxins. The liver is very nutritious; I’ll make some fried liver for you later."

People from Abyanabad typically do not eat animal organs, as they consider them impure.

Seeing the mother and daughter so cheerful, Adrian didn’t spoil the mood, only saying, "Just don’t add chili peppers."

"Dad, how can it taste good without chili? Lamb liver must have lots of chili."

"Your dad can’t eat spicy."

"Dad, a man should eat meat in big chunks, drink alcohol, and be able to handle spicy food. You can’t do that?"

Sienna whispered, "I’ll make you non-spicy fried lamb liver later."

"Alright."

Sienna took out the innards, washed them clean, marinated the lamb with various seasonings, and finally grilled it over the fire.

The late autumn night was already quite cool. They lit several fires in the backyard to keep warm, with two fat sheep being roasted over the central fire, the aroma of the meat wafting through the air.

The old lady asked, "What suddenly made you think of roasting a whole lamb?"

"I got a craving," Sienna joked.

Curly also said, "Great-grandma, I’m craving too. When will the lamb be ready?"

"You little glutton."

"Mom’s a big glutton."

As the night temperature dipped, everyone put on long sleeves, and Sienna draped a shawl over her shoulders. Adrian wore only a T-shirt, and Sienna felt cold just looking at him.

"Dad, is it done?"

"Another half an hour," Adrian said, turning the whole lamb over the fire. It’s a job for the strong.

"Why is it so slow?"

"Because you can’t rush perfection."

"I’m not eating perfection, I want roast lamb."

Sienna said to her grandmother, "Grandma, we have a man who can roast a whole lamb in our family now."

The old lady paused, not understanding what her granddaughter meant.

Sienna began reminiscing, "Grandma, remember the year after my father passed, we went to Auntie’s house for roast lamb. She joked about us not having a man and how we couldn’t even enjoy a roast lamb."

The old lady’s expression darkened, "So what if she has three sons? Now they’re fighting over inheritance, it’s not as peaceful as our home."

"Indeed."

Sienna can hold grudges at times, remembering things for a very long time.

Auntie’s family had three sons, and those sons had many sons. When Auntie celebrated her 15th birthday banquet, the Johnson Family attended, and they had roast lamb.

At first, it was fine, but then Auntie said, "You’re just orphans and widows, not even a man among you. Want roasted lamb, yet no one to butcher sheep... Roasting lamb is hard work, women can’t do it."
