Chapter 1068: Chapter 1009: The Final Revelry (Part 2)
Pauline Briggs also got angry, "Don’t mention it, just talking about it makes me angry now. They actually want to pair their son, who’s had two wives die, with Sienna."
"Oh?" Adrian Desmond was very interested in this topic.
But Sienna Johnson changed the subject, "Grandma, when we have time, let’s invite Auntie over for roast whole lamb."
"She can’t come."
"Why not."
"She’s had a stroke from the stress caused by her sons."
Samara also had a bad impression of them and said, "Sister, don’t invite them, they’re very bad."
When Samara was young, she was once thrown into a garbage bin by the grandson of Auntie’s family.
The old lady sighed, "Pauline, I’ve come to understand this; if a family has many sons, and they’re useless, it’s a disaster. Raising daughters well, they’re no worse than sons."
Pauline Briggs glanced at Sheehan and said, "Mom, our Sheehan will grow up to be a good one."
The old lady said this, but she still wanted a boy more. She didn’t want another Sienna Johnson in the Johnson Family, working so hard like a man, it’s too exhausting!
"Are you expecting recently?" the old lady asked.
"What?"
"Give Sheehan a brother."
Adrian: ...
"Okay," Sienna agreed.
"When will my roast whole lamb be ready?" Curly interrupted everyone’s chatter, saying loudly.
"Wait for ten more minutes."
"Oh dear, why is it so slow?"
Sienna Johnson patted her daughter’s head and said, "When we have time, let Dad take us to the prairie for roast whole lamb."
"When will we go?"
Sienna had just said it casually, but Curly took it seriously, and Adrian looked at the embarrassed Sienna without helping her out of the situation.
"We’ll go when there’s time."
Curly whispered, "Then we’ll never go."
George said, "When I grow up, I’ll take you."
"Okay."
The roast whole lamb was ready, and the old lady brought out her homemade osmanthus wine, pouring a cup for everyone, with Curly and George having juice.
Curly took advantage of everyone’s distraction to steal Adrian’s osmanthus wine, but Adrian caught her, yet he didn’t expose her and moved his own osmanthus wine a bit further away.
With a dagger, Adrian sliced the roasted golden lamb into pieces, and Samara joked, "Brother-in-law, this is roast whole lamb, not roast duck. Why are you slicing the lamb like duck meat?"
Adrian looked at the woman beside him, his gaze gentle, "Your sister is too delicate. If I don’t slice the lamb, she won’t eat it."
Sienna Johnson said unjustly, "That’s not true, I was just coaxing your son earlier."
Sheehan watched the live sheep being slaughtered and the whole lamb being roasted, but fell asleep before he could eat the lamb. Sienna didn’t take him back to the room; instead, she had Sally bring out the crib and placed it beside them, letting Sheehan sleep inside.
The old lady looked at Samara, worrying, "Samara is a grown-up girl now. In a few years, she’ll have to find a boyfriend."
Pauline Briggs said, "Ah, we don’t expect to find someone rich and powerful; as long as he has a good temperament, good character, and treats Samara well, that’s good enough. It’s best if his family members are simple and the mother-in-law doesn’t make things difficult for the daughter-in-law."
"I don’t want to get married," Samara said softly.
"Nonsense, how can you say you don’t want to get married? A woman grows up to get married," the old lady said.
Samara dared not speak again, and Sienna Johnson glanced at her and changed the topic.
The family sat together, chatting idly, unaware of how fast time flew. The old lady, getting older and less energetic, went back to rest, leaving only Adrian and Sienna Johnson.
The fire pit’s flames were out, it was getting cold, and Sienna sat in Adrian’s arms, looking at the bright moon in the sky.
"Is there really a Chang’e on the moon?" Adrian, seeing her looking up at the moon, asked.
"Maybe there is."
"Didn’t astronauts land on the moon and not see Chang’e?"
"She must have hidden."
Adrian chuckled softly and said, "Yes, she hid."
Sienna suddenly said, "I have to start work tomorrow."
Adrian wasn’t surprised; the woman he fell in love with wasn’t a canary; she was an eagle destined to soar in the sky.
If he were to clip her wings and cage her, he wouldn’t be the Sienna Johnson he is.
"Is tonight the last celebration?"
"Tomorrow, I’ll get busy.
The Eastminster Pharmaceutical Factory has been sealed for so long, and the Health and Industry and Commerce Bureaus still refuse to lift the ban. The stock price of Eastminster Group is still falling; if I don’t step in, it will really go bankrupt." Sienna shared her difficult situation with Adrian.
Adrian asked, "Do you need my help?"
"You just deal with Doctor X and Night Owl. My intuition tells me they won’t let this go easily."
"Yes." Adrian’s expression also became solemn.
He looked at the extinguished fire pit, recalling the effort he put in to eradicate Death Island, only for Night Owl to escape.
Now, Night Owl is like a drop of water falling into the ocean; none of the people Adrian sent out have been able to trace his whereabouts.
The enemy is in the dark, and they are in the light; they are now at a disadvantage.
"I’ll go back to Abyanabad in a few days."
"Okay."
"Take care of yourself when I’m gone. Don’t always work overtime, no matter how busy work is, remember to eat on time. If you get a stomach problem, it will be troublesome."
Sienna chuckled, "How have our roles switched? Obviously, these are words meant for a wife to say to her husband."
"Who says I’m not the live-in son-in-law."
"Sixth Master, you’ve been wronged."
"I don’t feel wronged at all."
If Sienna hadn’t insisted on finding a live-in son-in-law, he might not have had anything to do with it. Noah Phillips is not as easy to deal with as Kenneth Brown.
