Chapter 1724: Chapter 1710

Zhou Ang finished speaking and didn’t see any surprise or other expression on Chu Ge’s face; his expression was too calm.

Even Wen Zaozao showed little surprise on her face.

Zhou Ang felt a bit puzzled; he thought Chu Ge and the others would be shocked, but such calmness gave him a sense of defeat, as if Chu Ge and the others had long known.

Actually, Chu Ge didn’t know beforehand; he had only seen information about Wufeng Palace in the letter left by Wen Zaozao’s father.

It was just that the emblem seemed familiar to Chu Ge, as if he had seen it somewhere long ago.

"You guys don’t seem surprised at all."

Zhou Ang laughed awkwardly.

Chu Ge glanced at Wen Zaozao, whose eyes clearly dodged, and he understood in his heart. She didn’t want to answer Zhou Ang’s question directly.

And rightly so; she hadn’t gotten over the situation in her heart yet, so how could she chat with him as if nothing had happened?

Chu Ge coughed lightly, smiled, and explained, "We didn’t know about the things you investigated, so being unsurprised should be normal too, right? But I’m curious, what kind of sect is this Wufeng Palace? What do they do? And why are they targeting me?"

The last question was the one he was most concerned about; having come from ancient times, he had never held grudges against anyone in the modern world, so why were they out to take his life?

Chu Ge knew that they were all cultivators, and he was really surprised how similar their cultivation techniques were to his own.

"I don’t know what kind of organization they are; I only know that back then my father and Uncle Wen saved a man with the surname Wei, and this man turned out to be the Palace Master of Wufeng Palace."

Zhou Ang’s hand, resting on his knee, clenched slightly; he hesitated, unsure if he should tell them that his father had joined Wufeng Palace back then.

His small, conflicted gesture was caught by Chu Ge, who sensed that Zhou Ang seemed to have something unsaid but was worried about revealing it.

Seeing his hesitation, Chu Ge directly asked, "Zhou Ang, if there’s anything else, you can tell us all at once."

Zhou Ang looked up at him, then at Wen Zaozao, with a trace of worry in his eyes, "It’s actually nothing."

He paused, thought carefully, and ultimately decided not to tell them yet.

"It’s nothing, I just came to tell you about this matter. Wufeng Palace is a cultivation sect; I used to think such situations only happened in TV shows, but unexpectedly it’s happening in the real world."

Chu Ge smiled, "The world is vast; there’s much we don’t know yet."

"Indeed."

Zhou Ang sighed, turned to look at the luggage on the ground, and said, "What are you all planning to bring along?"

He had been hospitalized for days and hadn’t had time to pack, not even preparing for the outdoor camping trip.

He hadn’t expected Wen Zaao to prepare anything for him while she was mad, so early this morning, he had Uncle Fu help get things ready.

"Actually, there isn’t much to bring. Mainly, Wen Zaozao brought too many clothes and some cosmetics, which aren’t necessary. We’re off on an adventure, not a vacation."

As Chu Ge talked, he couldn’t help but complain, "Spent all morning organizing, only to end up with useless stuff."

Just after he finished speaking, Wen Zaozao gave him a white-eyed glance, glared at him, and snorted, "You’re quick to pack; how could a big man understand our girls’ troubles!"

"You girls are indeed troublesome, taking an hour to put on makeup before going out. If you want to head out, you’d need two hours beforehand."

Chu Ge tutted, "By the time you’re ready to leave, the opportunity’s long gone."

Wen Zaozao unwillingly glared at him, "Why don’t you pack then!"

Chu Ge crossed his arms, lightly shook his head, "Your stuff, you pack it yourself."

On the side, Zhou Ang listened to their back-and-forth banter, feeling a bit unsettled. In the past, he and Wen Zaozao could joke around like that too.

But now, Wen Zaozao felt even talking to him was a waste of time.

A look of undisguised disappointment appeared in Zhou Ang’s eyes. He turned his head to glance at Wen Zaozao, and seeing her playful demeanor saddened him a bit.

"By the way, Zhou Ang, have you booked the tickets?"

Chu Ge asked, since they had decided to set off together, these things needed to be arranged.

Zhou Ang glanced at Wen Zaozao, then shook his head, "I don’t know which flight you guys booked, so I haven’t bought it yet."

Chu Ge immediately realized, disregarding Wen Zaozao’s threatening gaze, he took out his phone and found their flight information, the ticket was booked by Wen Zaozao, but using his phone.

Wen Zaozao stared daggers at Chu Ge, seemingly wanting to kill him, but Chu Ge seemed oblivious, having automatically blocked her out.

Zhou Ang checked the flight number, then took out his own phone to book a ticket. However, Chu Ge and the others booked economy class, and at the moment, there were no available seats in economy, so he was reluctantly forced to book a luxury cabin.

After booking, a weight seemed to lift off Zhou Ang’s heart. He lightly pursed his lips and said to Chu Ge and the others, "Do you still have anything you haven’t prepared?"

Chu Ge shook his head, "Everything’s ready, just waiting to set off tomorrow. Do you still lack anything?"

Zhou Ang shook his head, "I’ve already asked Uncle Fu for help; I believe he should be back soon."

Chu Ge nodded and turned to Wen Zaozao, "Why are you still standing there? Go and repack your luggage."

Wen Zaozao pouted, "Got it, got it! You nag like a woman! So annoying!"

She said as she stood up, not forgetting to give Chu Ge another glare before turning.

Zhou Ang hesitated a bit, watching Wen Zaozao’s busy figure; this was Wen Zaozao’s first time going far away, and frankly, he was a bit worried about letting her pack alone.

"Zaozao, do you want me to help you pack?" In the past, Zhou Ang would have helped her pack without asking, but now their relationship was unsteady, so he hesitated before asking.

Wen Zaozao ignored him, and beside her, Chu Ge said, "Let her pack by herself. She’s grown up and should learn to pack her own luggage. Besides, we’re off on an adventure. The first thing to learn is to take care of ourselves. We can’t let her be a drag once we get there."

The words might not have sounded nice, but Chu Ge wasn’t wrong. Once they arrived in that mist-ridden place, they might struggle to protect themselves, let alone have time or energy to care for others.
