Chapter 1690: Chapter 1676
Wen Zaao looked at him in confusion, "What do you mean by ’what to do’?"
She averted her gaze for a moment, "I don’t know what you’re talking about."
"Now Zhou Ang has also found the location of Wuling Mountain. According to what he said today, he wants to go to Wuling Mountain together."
Wen Zaao fell silent, bowing her head without saying a word.
"What do you want to say?" After a moment, Wen Zaao asked, her voice low and somewhat unhappy.
"You’re always targeting him like this; eventually, he’ll find out."
"So what if he finds out? Do I have to do things behind his back?" Wen Zaao said angrily, "He’s the one who wronged me, not the other way around. Why should I have to hide from him?"
Chu Ge raised his eyebrows slightly. He didn’t blame Wen Zaao for lashing out at him, but he didn’t quite agree with what she said.
"Are you sure he’s the one who wronged you?" Chu Ge’s gaze fixed on her, a dangerous glint in his dark eyes. "How old were you back then? You should know better than I. You also don’t know what your fathers went through back then."
Wen Zaao’s face looked terrible, her lips tightly pressed together, her eyes filled with defiance.
"Moreover, it was his father’s doing back then, not Zhou Ang’s. Are you going to negate everything Zhou Ang has done for you over the past twenty years because of what his father did?"
Wen Zaao’s expression softened slightly, her teeth biting her lips, saying nothing.
"Think it over yourself. If you believe your father’s death is to be blamed on Zhou Ang, I have nothing more to say. Moreover, I’m just an outsider in this matter. I can’t empathize, so I can only express my opinion from an observer’s perspective."
After saying this, Chu Ge stood up, looked deeply at Wen Zaao, and said again, "Think it over for yourself."
After speaking, he returned to his room.
In the dining room, Wen Zaao sat there nibbling her chopsticks. Chu Ge’s words weren’t unfounded; she also understood. But truly doing it was very hard.
At least, accepting this reality now was difficult; she needed time.
The next morning.
Zhou Ang drove early to Wen Zaao’s building. He was very certain that Wen Zaao was hiding something from him, and his intuition told him it must be related to him.
So he wanted to find out, even though he knew this would just annoy Zaozao, he couldn’t help but want to ask.
Before long, Wen Zaao came down with a backpack. She seemed to ignore Zhou Ang’s car and walked straight towards the bus stop.
Zhou Ang quickly started his car and followed slowly, "Zaozao, get in the car."
Wen Zaao ignored him, quickening her pace.
"Zaozao!" Seeing this, Zhou Ang’s face darkened. He quickly got out of the car and went forward to grab Zaozao’s arm, "Wen Zaao!"
His voice turned icy, "What’s wrong with you?"
Wen Zaao had never seen Zhou Ang angry before; she was momentarily frightened by his anger but quickly composed herself.
"Nothing’s wrong with me." Wen Zaao turned her head away, not wanting to pay attention to him.
Last night she really tried hard to adjust her mindset, but seeing him today, she couldn’t help but explode emotionally.
"Did you come to my house so early just to ask me what’s wrong?" Wen Zaao looked at him coldly, "Since when have you become so idle?"
Her gaze was very cold, something Zhou Ang had never seen before. Hurt, he asked, "What’s wrong? Zaozao? What’s really wrong? Is there something you can’t just tell me directly? Did I offend you in some way?"
"Offend me? Ha, you didn’t offend me."
Wen Zaao shrugged off his arm and tried to leave, but he blocked her, "You’re not going anywhere until you clear this up today!"
Zhou Ang was thoroughly angry. Even when Wen Zaao was mad at him before, she would always pout and tell him why she was upset. Never had she been so cold.
This feeling made Zhou Ang very uncomfortable; he had to get to the bottom of this today.
"I’ve already said there’s nothing wrong! Do you need something to be wrong for you to be satisfied?"
Wen Zaao was angry too. He wasn’t ready to face Zhou Ang emotionally, yet Zhou Ang kept appearing in front of him, which was also frustrating.
"I don’t want to see you right now. Can you stop bothering me?"
Wen Zaao practically shouted this out. Passersby heard her and started looking over.
She pushed him away forcefully, ran straight to the roadside, flagged down a taxi, and left.
Zhou Ang stood there with a grim face, now completely sure he had somehow offended Wen Zaao, but he couldn’t figure out how. He hadn’t done anything over the line recently, so how could he have upset her?
Zhou Ang felt a heavy blockage in his heart; nothing seemed to flow. He stood there, hands on hips, and stomped his foot angrily.
He didn’t notice a familiar figure watching him from not far away.
Today, Zhou Laowai had come to follow Wen Zaao; he hadn’t expected to encounter Zhou Ang here.
Looking at that familiar face, Zhou Laowai had mixed feelings. He really wanted to step forward and hug Zhou Ang tightly. Twenty years had passed, he had grown taller and matured, and the Ancient Artifact Research Institute was running well under his management.
He had grown into a successful young man, of whom he was proud.
But now, he could only observe from afar, unable to acknowledge his own son. This feeling was like torment on a hot pan.
Zhou Laowai watched as Zhou Ang got into the car and quickly followed. For a moment, he forgot he was supposed to be following Wen Zaao.
Zhou Ang drove to the city center. He now felt his heart wasn’t doing well, subconsciously driving towards the hospital.
Watching the direction of Zhou Ang’s car, Zhou Laowai felt a pang in his heart. Wasn’t this the way to the hospital?
Could it be that Zhou Ang’s heart condition had flared up again?
As he thought of this, he suddenly saw the car in front of him stop abruptly, which startled Zhou Laowai. He looked ahead from through his car window, but the glass was tinted, and he couldn’t see clearly.
Horn sounds came from behind, and Zhou Laowai no longer worried about exposing himself. He got out of the car and approached Zhou Ang’s car.
Fortunately, the window was half-open, allowing him to see inside clearly.
Zhou Ang was slumped over the steering wheel, unconscious. Seeing this scene frightened Zhou Laowai terribly.
He quickly opened the car door, took Zhou Ang from the driver’s seat, and laid him on the back seat, then rushed him to the hospital...
