Chapter 1487: Witch Spirit Mind-Severing Parasite
That strike from Wen Te carried boundless force. It surged forward like an unstoppable tide. There was no way to block it!
Even at his peak, Ling Feng might not have been able to take it head-on. In his current, near-depleted state, it was completely out of the question.
"Am I really going to die here today?"
Ling Feng clenched his fists until his knuckles turned white. At this point, his only option seemed to be Chaotic Rebirth. But in his current condition, if he used it, would he even survive the aftermath?
This time, there was no Mu Qianxue to sustain him with divine blood. There was no Dragon Transformation Pool to restore his body.
Just as death loomed, a sudden thought flashed through his mind.
The place where the devil was sealed!
If he threw caution aside and jumped into the cavern beneath the stone mountain, entering the creature's resting place, Wen Te would not dare to follow him inside, no matter how bold he was.
And with the Void Eye granted to him by the devil queen Ke Weili, he might have a chance to gain the creature's recognition.
After all, he had succeeded once before in the Wuji Cave Heaven.
"I have no choice! I'm gambling everything on this!"
Ling Feng gathered what little strength he had left and poured all his remaining spiritual consciousness into one final Terrifying Gaze.
Wen Te's expression shifted slightly. Even at death's door, Ling Feng's will to resist remained terrifyingly strong.
Still, it was nothing more than a final struggle!
"You can't escape!"
Wen Te let out a cold snort. "Ling Feng, it's a pity we are enemies. Otherwise, I might have truly appreciated you. Hehe. Die!"
"That's not for you to decide. Wen Te, just wait. I'll be back!"
Ling Feng wiped the blood from his lips, then leapt without hesitation straight into the bottomless abyss beneath the stone mountain.
"What?"
Wen Te's eyes twitched. He immediately withdrew his attack, not daring to strike the cavern. If the creature inside awakened prematurely, the consequences would be catastrophic.
After a brief moment of shock, he burst into loud laughter.
"Idiot. You've chosen your own death!"
There was no way anyone could survive jumping into that abyss.
Drucker soon arrived as well. Watching Ling Feng disappear into the depths, his expression darkened with frustration.
"Damn it. What do we do now?"
"It doesn't matter!"
Wen Te smiled faintly. "We wait here at the entrance. That brat is gambling. He's betting the creature won't wake up. He's also betting we won't dare go inside."
Drucker frowned slightly. "Then your plan is?"
"We proceed as planned!"
Wen Te's eyes gleamed coldly. "We can no longer wipe out the entire Hall of War force, but there are still some left in the valley. More importantly, that boy is inside. Killing him alone is worth more than anything else!"
Drucker fell silent for a moment, then nodded heavily.
Ling Feng was still only at the Spiritual Sea Realm. Yet his strength was already this terrifying.
If he were allowed to grow into the Divine Destiny Realm, there would be no stopping him.
Killing him alone was worth more than eliminating a hundred others.
"Devil Refining Cauldron, go!"
With a flick of his hand, Wen Te summoned the cauldron and hurled it into the cavern. Dark light surged from it as it began refining the flesh of the sleeping devil.
Ling Feng was inside. Once the creature awakened, he would be the first to die.
"Ling Feng, rest in peace. Hahaha!"
Wen Te's laughter echoed into the depths.
With the two of them guarding the entrance, there was no chance for Ling Feng to escape, even if he realized the danger.
"Wen Te, since you're so certain I'm going to die, why not tell me who the traitor is?"
As the cauldron refined the devil's flesh, its consciousness began to stir. The entire cavern trembled violently.
Wen Te laughed loudly.
"Fine. Since you're about to die, I might as well tell you. The pawn I planted in your Hall of War is Yuwen Liang. But he's only a minor piece. I even gave him a Witch Spirit Mind-Severing Parasite so he could secretly plant it in Yang Zhen. Hahaha. Now you understand, don't you?"
"A Witch Spirit Mind-Severing Parasite?"
Ling Feng's pupils contracted. He did not fully understand what it was, but the implication was clear.
Yang Zhen's abnormal behavior had been the result of Yuwen Liang's manipulation.
Yuwen Liang!
A cold light flashed in Ling Feng's eyes. If he had known earlier, he would have crippled him during the selection trial, no matter the cost.
"That's enough talking. Ling Feng, go become the devil's meal. Hahaha!"
Wen Te continued laughing as he formed hand seals. The cauldron released wave after wave of sinister energy, frantically refining the devil's flesh.
"Roar!"
A deafening roar erupted from the abyss. Violent winds tore through the cavern. Ling Feng was blasted backward and slammed hard against the rock wall, coughing up blood.
"Damn it! Those bastards are deliberately provoking the devil!"
Ling Feng's brows furrowed deeply. Once the creature went berserk, it would not care about his Void Eye. He would likely be crushed before he could even attempt communication.
Gritting his teeth, Ling Feng pressed himself low against the ground and crawled forward with all his strength.
The cavern was pitch black. Occasionally, faint glimmers of light revealed rare and precious ores embedded in the walls.
Under normal circumstances, he would have stopped to collect them.
Now, he did not even spare them a glance.
He pushed himself toward an area where the wind was weaker, then broke into a desperate sprint. At the same time, he activated the Void Eye, releasing its aura as much as possible.
All he could do was hope that the creature possessed enough intelligence!
Rumble!
Outside, Wen Te had clearly pushed the Devil Refining Cauldron to its limit. A furious will began to spread throughout the cavern.
The ground beneath Ling Feng's feet started to quake violently. Only now did he truly understand what it meant for heaven and earth to shake.
The entire stone mountain itself was part of the seal suppressing the devil.
Ling Feng followed the tunnels within the mountain, pushing forward without stopping.
He did not know how long he had been running.
Eventually, he saw what looked like two enormous stone gates ahead, slowly shifting.
In the next instant, the "gates" rose.
Ling Feng froze.
Those were not gates.
They were eyes!
Each eye stood over three zhang tall. As they opened, they resembled twin pools of blood, radiating a suffocating pressure.
A chill ran down Ling Feng's spine.
He had expected the creature to be massive.
But now he realized he had still underestimated it.
The reason the eastern lake and the northern mountain both carried the creature's aura was simple.
Beneath this land, stretching for thousands of li, lay the body of that very devil!
