Chapter 64: Chapter 62: My Beautiful Senior Turned Evil
...
But...
This precise and insidious angle of attack...
This familiar, slightly putrid and fishy smell... Who else could it be but that detestable Fishman Priest Skeleton?
In an instant.
Leon felt goosebumps erupt all over his body.
So, the one who commanded this terrifying Black Corpse to ambush them here, ruining his and Catherine’s moment...
It really was Lynch.
In that moment, immense shock, a powerful sense of absurdity, and a bone-deep terror completely overwhelmed Leon Hollis, making him temporarily forget even the searing pain in his throat.
He was completely dumbfounded.
Meanwhile, on the other side.
After knocking Catherine back, the Black Corpse let out a low roar and lunged again, pressing her so hard she didn’t even have time to take out and tear her Sanctuary Scroll.
At the same time, Skeleton Soldiers swarmed out from all directions with a CLATTER of rubbing bones. Individually, they might not have been strong, but they were numerous and fearless, instantly surrounding the three of them and hacking away wildly with their blades and bone spears.
They were so overwhelmed they had no time to produce and tear their Scrolls.
Even more deadly, while Lynch himself and his bone mages had yet to appear, their Magic support had already arrived.
Under the effects of a dual Curse, the three Holy Knights, led by Catherine, were quickly struck down and immediately surrendered.
The Black Corpse strode forward, planted a foot on Catherine’s chest plate, kicked her two-handed Greatsword away, and confiscated her Scroll.
The other two High Tier Holy Knight apprentices had their Scrolls confiscated by the Fishman Priest that scuttled out.
As for Leon, Bone Shadow, who had snuck up behind him, knocked him on the back of the head with the hilt of a dagger.
THUMP~
A dull thud.
Leon Hollis’s eyes rolled back in his head, and he passed out completely.
The fight on Lynch’s end was over in a flash. From the Black Corpse’s initial assault to all three being subdued, it took little more than ten seconds.
The situation on the main battlefield was similar.
With the Warrior surrendered and Catherine having fled with her group, what fighting spirit could the rest possibly have left?
"We surrender! We surrender!"
"Don’t kill us! We give up!"
"Here’s my Scroll, take it~"
The crowd of people threw down their weapons or Magic Staffs, raised their hands high, and proactively took out their life-saving Shelter Scrolls, tossing them aside to show they would no longer resist.
Although Amadis’s anger hadn’t faded, she couldn’t just slaughter them all.
She snorted coldly and immediately ordered her Skeletons forward to confiscate weapons and Scrolls, then gathered the dejected captives to be watched over.
"Too bad that bitch Catherine got away." Amid her happiness, Amadis was still a little disappointed.
Although the surrendered people looked ashen-faced, a glimmer of hope seemed to remain deep in their eyes. They hoped that after breaking out, Catherine would quickly gather reinforcements to rescue them...
But just then.
CLATTER... CRACK~ CRACK...
Under everyone’s stunned gazes, Catherine and her group were shoved out of the dense woods by a squad of Skeleton Soldiers, stumbling back into view.
Catherine, at the head of the group, was deathly pale. Blood stained the corners of her mouth and her chest, and her magnificent Holy Knight Armor was dented and broken in multiple places. Her injuries were clearly not light.
More importantly, her signature cold, arrogant expression had completely shattered, leaving only a dull, vacant look in her eyes.
"S-Senior Catherine?!"
"Even she..."
The captives from the Holy Light Faction erupted in an uproar, the last spark of hope in their eyes completely extinguished.
This time, they were truly, utterly annihilated.
Amadis, on the other hand, was stunned at first. But when she got a clear look at Catherine’s wretched and miserable state, she burst into hearty, unrestrained laughter.
"You bitch, Catherine, I thought you were fast on your feet. What brings you back? Couldn’t bear to leave me?"
Her laughter was crisp and brazen, filled with obvious delight.
Catherine, however, was filled with humiliation, looking as if she wanted to grind her teeth to dust.
But for all her laughter, Amadis hadn’t forgotten her savior.
After she had her laugh, she quickly performed a noble lady’s curtsy toward the dense woods. "Fellow student, thank you so much for your assistance. I wonder if you might show yourself, so that I may thank you in person and remember this kindness."
However, no one emerged from the dense woods, only the RUSTLE of leaves stirred by Spiritual Power.
Amadis paused for a moment, but then she understood.
’That makes sense. Those people from the Holy Light System are notoriously vengeful. If they found out who helped me, they’d probably face all sorts of retaliation, both overt and covert.’
’It’s completely understandable to be cautious.’
However, she, Amadis, had always been one to clearly distinguish between kindness and enmity. She felt the spoils of war should go to her savior.
She turned, her gaze landing maliciously on the group of Holy Light System captives.
"Skeletons, give our ’honored guests’ a good cleaning! And remember, I want them ’spotless.’"
The Skeletons under her command immediately sprang into action. Led by a few Soul Fire Skeletons, they began a thorough "pat-down" of the captives.
"Wh-what are you doing!? That’s my private Magic Notebook!"
"My family crest! Give it back!"
"That ring was a gift from my mother..."
"My coin purse, it has a check for several hundred Gold Coins... Ah!"
Cries of alarm, protest, and pleading rang out continuously.
Seeing this only made Amadis more excited.
’These are all fellow students, so killing them is out of the question. But since they dared to join forces and attack me, I certainly can’t just let them go for free.’
She supervised with great enthusiasm, occasionally calling out instructions. "That shield is enchanted with ’Sturdiness’ and ’Weak Evil Resistance.’ It’s worth a bit. Take it."
"That Magic Staff, the wood is decent quality, and it’s inlaid with a standard Tier One fire Gemstone. Take it."
"A Dimensional Space Bag? Whoa, they even have something this good!? Empty everything out of it and inventory it all, piece by piece!"
"Healing potions, Awakening Potions, Secondary Holy Water... Not bad, not bad. All solid currency. Take it all~"
"Huh? This guy has a small Magic Trap Scroll hidden on him? Trying to pull a fast one? This young lady will be confiscating that too!"
Soon, a motley pile of loot lay in the clearing. There were weapons, Armor, Magic Staffs, various potion bottles, material pouches, Gold Coins and Silver Coins, and Magic Scrolls—everything imaginable. There were even some personal items like Magic Notebooks, jewelry, and so on.
While the individual items might not have been extremely valuable, their sheer variety added up to a considerable fortune, a testament to the wealth of the Holy Light Alliance students.
The students of the Holy Light Alliance looked at the pile of loot, their hearts aching at the loss. The expressions on their faces were exceedingly grim.
"What are you all moping about for?" Amadis chided. "There’s a price to pay for doing bad things. This young lady has already shown you mercy by not stripping off your Armor and Mage Robes."
As soon as she said this, the area fell instantly silent. No one dared to whimper any longer.
Amadis then carefully packed the loot into several large bundles and ordered the Black Corpse to carry them toward the dense woods.
"Fellow student, this loot is all yours," Amadis called out.
The RUSTLE of leaves came from the woods again, sounding a little brisker than before.
The Black Corpse walked to the edge of the forest, set down the bundles, and then silently retreated.
A moment later, the bundles on the ground vanished without a sound, obviously taken.
Seeing this, the smile on Amadis’s face grew even wider.
’Excellent. The student accepted the gift. It seems they aren’t against associating with me.’
With the matter of the loot settled, an excited glint appeared in Amadis’s deep violet eyes as she cast a malicious gaze upon the ashen-faced captives.
"Alright, with the trivialities out of the way, it’s time for the main event." She pulled a Magic Crystal ball from her Space Ring and tossed it in her hand, her smile turning somewhat sinister. "This young lady foresaw there might be a need to ’record a beautiful moment,’ so I prepared a Magic Crystal ball in advance."
As she spoke, Amadis walked over to Catherine, leaned down slightly, and hooked a finger under her chin. With a wicked grin, she said, "So you’re the one they call Ice Rose, are you? Ready to accept the loser’s punishment?"
In that moment, she looked rather villainous.
「In the dense woods.」
Lynch’s spirits lifted as well.
’Oh? So there’s this part of the show, too?’
All trace of sleepiness vanished in an instant.
