Chapter 65: Chapter 63: The Defeat Session

...

"You—" Catherine’s face instantly flushed crimson, her eyes blazing with fury. "Amadis, don’t you go too far."

"Too far?! HAHA~"

As if she had just heard the world’s greatest joke, Amadis clutched her stomach and roared with laughter.

After a good long while, her laughter abruptly ceased, and her gaze, now dark and sinister, locked onto Catherine. "What, so it’s okay for you people from the Holy Light System to walk all over us from the Undead System and shit on our heads? Now that the tables have turned, you can’t even take this tiny bit of grievance?"

"You... Amadis, you’re a noble lady. Watch your words," Catherine said, a mixture of shame and indignation on her face.

"Hmph, I don’t care." Amadis’s domineering eyes began to sparkle with excitement. "Come on, you elites of the Holy Light System. Face this Magic Crystal and shout: ’The Undead System is number one in the world! We are not as skilled and willingly concede defeat! We implore the academy to recognize the Undead System’s strength and increase its resource allocation!’"

She cleared her throat and adopted the tone of an official academy announcer. "Remember, it has to be sincere and heartfelt! Your expressions must be filled with remorse and admiration! If I find anyone’s delivery to be substandard, or their attitude not sincere enough..."

Stopping mid-sentence, her gaze swept over the captives, who were furious but dared not speak. She chuckled. "Hehe, you all know I’ve already learned the Corpse Resurrection Skill!"

"Don’t get me wrong. I’m a noble lady, an outstanding student. I wouldn’t do something like kill a classmate and then resurrect them as my corpse servant."

But before the captives could even breathe a small sigh of relief, a wicked grin spread across Amadis’s face again. "However, I did just clear out the Steel-Tooth Camp, and I left a field full of corpses behind..."

As she spoke, a Black Corpse steadily dragged over the massive, hideous body of a goblin. The creature was over two meters tall, stronger than a bear, and reeked of a foul stench.

"I don’t mind going to the trouble of resurrecting Steel-Tooth," Amadis said, her eyes sweeping over the crowd again. "And then, I’ll have him... ’favor’ each and every one of you."

In an instant, an uproar erupted among the prisoners.

"Amadis, you wouldn’t dare—"

"This is an insult! A desecration! The academy will never allow it!"

"Please, Miss Hayes, don’t do this..."

Protests, angry shouts, and pleas rose and fell, but no one dared to curse at her anymore.

Every face was deathly pale. They looked from the grotesque goblin corpse to the "innocently" smiling Amadis, a chill shooting up their spines straight to the crowns of their heads.

Even Catherine’s body was trembling uncontrollably, her eyes filled with terror.

She blustered, "Amadis, what you’re doing tramples the very bottom line of human decency! The academy will not let you get away with this! Even if you are from the Hayes family..."

"I don’t care~" Amadis shrugged, looking for all the world like a rogue with nothing to lose. "Worst comes to worst, I’ll just go study abroad in the Realm of Death for a few years to let things cool down~"

"Besides, we Necromancers are quite popular over there. As for you lot... Hehehehe~"

Her "I’m laying it all on the line, you figure out what to do" attitude completely shattered the psychological defenses of most of the captives.

Other people might just be making threats.

But this young lady was the type who actually did what she said she would.

’Holy shit~’

In the dense woods, Lynch, who had been enjoying the show, was also dumbfounded.

’No, but, uh... Senior, what kind of adventure novels have you been reading? My studies have been stressful lately... mind sharing a few titles with me?’

Under such terrifying pressure, someone finally broke.

"I... I’ll say it~" A High Tier apprentice from the Warrior Series was the first to collapse.

With an ashen face, he turned to the Magic Crystal and stammered through the "declaration of defeat."

With the first, came the second, then the third...

Soon, the apprentices from the Warrior Series and Elemental System, who had relatively less conflict with the Undead System, had all passed the trial.

After they finished recording, each one was red-faced, wishing the ground would swallow them whole. But in their hearts, they were also secretly relieved. At least they didn’t have to face that horrifying "goblin’s favor" humiliation. Otherwise, they would never be able to hold their heads high again for the rest of their lives.

Next, several Priest apprentices also gave in amidst teary eyes, followed by the other two High Tier Holy Knight apprentices besides Catherine. They, too, completed the "senior’s task" with their heads bowed in shame.

Finally, only Catherine was left in the clearing.

She bit her lip until it bled. She took another look at the stinking goblin corpse, and her stomach churned violently.

Amadis’s threat, still ringing in her ears, crushed the last of her pride.

Finally, she lowered her proud head and recited the declaration of surrender to the crystal.

"That’s it!?" In the dense woods, Lynch raised an eyebrow in dissatisfaction. ’This Ice Rose Catherine always looks so fierce and arrogant, but in the end... she’s this much of a coward? I thought I’d get to see a good show of defiance unto death~’

Still, his senior Amadis’s move was indeed brilliant and gave him a fair bit of inspiration.

In truth, he’d helped her this time for a couple of reasons. One, he figured if his senior was kicked out, the Undead System would be left with only him, and he wouldn’t be able to stand alone. Leon would definitely team up with Catherine and the others to target him, and he would be in big trouble then.

If she fell, he’d be in danger too.

Besides, he owed his senior a favor and had to repay it eventually.

Of course, he hadn’t originally planned on showing himself.

Even if the Holy Light System people had their suspicions afterward, as long as there was no concrete evidence, he could deny it to his dying day. After all, the battlefield was chaotic. Who knew which "passing Undead System classmate" was dishing out justice? 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

’Who knows, maybe there’s some high-level powerhouse in the Undead System’s upper years who’s just been lying low and developing his strength?’

But for all his careful calculations, he never expected that idiot Fish Priest to get carried away at the critical moment and give Leon another "deep-throat" attack.

Great. Now he’d been completely exposed.

Left with no choice, Lynch could only have Bone Shadow knock Leon out first and figure out how to deal with the guy later.

He had been getting a headache over this, but unexpectedly, his senior had provided him with a pretty good idea.

Hehe~~

Lynch glanced at the unconscious Leon, his eyes brimming with ’friendship’ for his fellow student.

「At the same time.」

When Amadis saw that even Catherine had yielded, she felt a surge of satisfaction at having achieved her goal. Yet, amidst the elation, a strange sense of listlessness crept in.

She pursed her lips and put away the Magic Crystal.

Seeing this, Catherine’s face flushed beet-red. "Amadis, are you satisfied now? Can you keep your promise?"

"Relax~" Amadis shot them a contemptuous glance. "I’m not like you so-called elites of the Holy Light System, who love to launch sneak attacks and gang-ups, then go back on your word. This young lady always keeps her promises."

"Once I’m done with something, I’ll let you all go."

With that, she ignored the captives and turned to the dense forest. "Classmate, you must have lost quite a few Skeleton Soldiers in that last battle, right? As it happens, the Steel-Tooth Camp isn’t far, and there are still plenty of unprocessed corpses over there. Feel free to take them to replenish your forces. Don’t be polite."

"This Steel-Tooth was a Tier Two goblin elite warrior. I’ll have my Black Corpse drag it back for you as well. Consider it a small thank-you gift from me."

The rustling of leaves sounded from the dense woods once more. Clearly, the other party had received her goodwill and expressed their thanks.

Soon, the "mysterious Necromancer’s" army of the dead retreated.

After dispatching the Black Corpse to drag Steel-Tooth away, Amadis did not immediately release the captives. Instead, she continued to wait patiently.

「About a quarter of an hour later.」

A goblin wolf-rider Skeleton returned and waved a small flag at the edge of the forest, seemingly conveying messages like, "I’ve handled it," "Preparing to leave," "Thanks," and "Goodbye."

A beautiful smile appeared on Amadis’s face. She waved back at the wolf-rider Skeleton.

Only then did the other party turn its Skeleton Wolf’s head and quickly disappear from sight.
