Chapter 63: Chapter 61: It’s Him! It’s Him! How Is This Possible!?
...
BOOM—
Finally, under another ferocious combined attack from the two Tier One Black Corpses, the Warrior’s shield was forcibly battered out of shape. He was sent flying like a broken sack, spitting a mouthful of blood in midair.
He then crashed heavily to the ground, unable to struggle back to his feet.
With their main tank down, the other two High Tier apprentice Warriors could hardly hold on. Under the frenzied assault of the Sea of Skulls commanded by Amadis, they were hacked to the ground by countless blades and halberds in a matter of moments, their blood staining the earth red.
Extreme terror seized their hearts. They almost instinctively reached into their robes, wanting to tear the life-saving Shelter Scrolls to call their mentors for help.
"Whoever dares to tear a Scroll gets focused down!" Amadis’s icy voice rang out. "Let’s see which comes first: the Scroll’s shield activating, or my bone spear piercing your throats."
"Or let’s see if you can survive in this pile of Skeletons until your mentors arrive."
Her voice was laced with viciousness.
The three Warriors froze instantly, their faces as pale as paper.
They knew the temperament and methods of the Hayes family’s young lady all too well: arrogant, vengeful, and someone who always followed through on her threats.
Others might only be making threats, but Amadis Hayes truly had the guts to do it.
"Very good!" Seeing this, Amadis’s tone softened slightly. "I will spare those who cease resisting and surrender."
And she was true to her word.
The three Warriors dejectedly lowered their weapons and raised their hands.
Amadis immediately had some Skeletons surround them, but just as she’d promised, she did not deliver a killing blow.
She watched as her forces collapsed like a landslide.
A trace of despair appeared in Catherine’s ice-blue eyes.
She knew that today’s situation was hopeless. Falling into the hands of an enraged Amadis wouldn’t necessarily mean death, but she would absolutely be subjected to all sorts of humiliation. A chill ran through Catherine’s heart at the mere thought.
’Could it be!’
’Do I really have to tear a Scroll to save my life?’
’No.’
’The moment I tear that Scroll, I’ll have completely lost to Amadis.’
’That is something I absolutely cannot tolerate.’
’I can’t be captured by her, and I certainly can’t admit defeat. I still have a chance.’
Catherine clenched her jaw, a look of grim resolve flashing in her eyes.
She pulled a diamond-shaped crystal from her robes, only about the size of a pigeon’s egg and completely translucent. A small, dancing holy flame seemed to be sealed within the crystal, giving it a divine and mystical appearance.
"Divine Flame, blossom forth!"
With a low cry, she abruptly crushed the incredibly precious Divine Flame treasure.
This was a life-saving trump card her family had bestowed upon her, its value comparable to a mid-tier Magic Scroll. It was also extremely rare. She had originally planned to save it for the most dangerous situations, or to turn the tide of battle at a critical moment, but now she could only use it to escape.
BZZZZ—
In an instant, a torrent of Holy Light flame, more brilliant than the noonday sun, erupted with Catherine at its center.
The pure, scorching Divine Flame swept out in all directions like a tidal wave. Wherever the light passed, the chilling aura of death was rapidly incinerated. The dozens of low-level Skeletons closest to her turned to ash in the Divine Flame without even a chance to struggle.
Skeletons slightly farther away fell in droves like wheat stalks in a hurricane, black smoke sizzling from their bones.
This sudden divine eruption instantly tore a huge gap in the airtight encirclement of Skeletons.
"Retreat! Follow me! We’ll settle the score with them later!" Catherine’s figure was like a bolt of lightning as she shot through the gap.
Two paladin apprentices followed close behind, forming an arrowhead formation.
Leon Hollis, who was mixed in with the group, saw his chance and scrambled desperately after them. He had no desire to stick around and face Amadis’s "hospitality."
"Not good!"
Amadis’s expression changed.
’If Catherine really escapes, with her charisma and the Holy Light Alliance’s numerical advantage at the academy, she could definitely gather more people and make a comeback in no time.’
’At that point, my mysterious reinforcements and I will be caught in an endless entanglement.’
"Stop them." She hastily gave the order with her Spiritual Power, and the Skeleton Cavalry immediately led a squad of elite Skeletons in hot pursuit.
However, the burst from Catherine’s "Divine Flame" was too powerful. Although its duration was short, the path it cleared was completely open, allowing the three of them to break out with extreme speed.
The Skeleton Cavalry was ultimately a step too slow, and could only watch as the trio plunged into the dense forest to the side.
After rushing into the relative safety of the dense forest, Catherine’s heart relaxed slightly. She had finally broken through.
As she continued to flee, she secretly gnashed her teeth, her eyes filled with humiliation and rage. ’That damn bitch Amadis, and that skulking Necromancer who dared to ruin my plans—they deserve to die too!’
’There are still five days left in the assessment. Just you wait! Once I regroup, I’ll pay you back ten, a hundred times over! I’ll make sure you from the Undead System suffer a crushing defea—’
Her vicious thoughts were not yet finished.
Suddenly!
ROOOOAR—!!
A heaven-shaking corpse-roar, filled with viciousness, suddenly exploded beside her ear.
The next moment.
A figure like an iron tower smashed through the undergrowth, charging out with a foul wind and a dense, deathly aura. A black claw, wreathed in immense power and corpse poison, swiped viciously down at her!
BANG!
In her haste, Catherine only had time to raise her Greatsword, which flowed with Holy Light, to block in front of her.
With a deep, thunderous sound, she felt an overwhelming, brutish force slam into her. The webbing between her thumb and forefinger split open instantly, a violent tremor shot through her arms, and she nearly lost her grip on her Greatsword.
She was knocked back several steps, a sweet taste filled her throat, and with a "WAARGH," she spat out a mouthful of blood, her face turning deathly pale.
Her eyes were filled with sheer terror.
’This Black Corpse... how can it be so fast!?’
’No! This Black Corpse... it’s definitely not one of Amadis’s two!’
’The corpse qi surrounding it is thick and potent, its body is much stockier, and the sense of pressure it gives off is simply suffocating.’
’This is actually an ancient Corpse! Its strength... is at least at the Tier One Peak.’
’It might even be touching the threshold of Tier Two.’
’How did it get here?’
’Who is controlling it? Could it be... that skulking Necromancer!?’
In that instant, Catherine and her group felt as if they had been plunged into an ice cellar, their hearts filled with despair.
Leon, especially, was so scared his legs went soft.
His eyes darted around frantically. Seizing the moment while the Black Corpse’s attention was focused on Catherine, he scrambled toward a sparse thicket of bushes to the side.
However, just as he had gotten halfway into the bushes and a sliver of hope of escaping with his life had begun to rise in his heart...
FWIP—!
A chilling water arrow shot out from an unknown location.
Leon had no time to react before the stream of liquid was brutally forced into his mouth.
PTHH—URGH!!!
Several of his already-loose teeth went flying. The cold jet of water, like an iron pestle, forced its way deep into his throat, slamming against his windpipe and esophagus.
COUGH, COUGH, COUGH... VOMIT—!
Leon fell to his knees in agony, clutching his throat with both hands.
This "pleasurable" sensation of being "deep-throated"... was surprisingly familiar.
The image of that pervy Fishman Priest Skeleton couldn’t help but surface in his mind.
’Wait!’
’That pervy Fishman Skeleton... doesn’t it belong to Lynch?’
’Lynch?’
’How is that possible!?’
Leon’s eyes flew wide open.
’Impossible! This is impossible!’
