Chapter 936: Mountain Wolf was killed

Lone Mountain

A few hours later,

Jeremy Night reached the lone mountain by following the route mentioned on the map. He was glad that it was not the first time for a Beast Tamer from the special base to come here.

Otherwise, the mission wouldn’t have appeared on the mission list. Predecessors had come here before him.

He put the unnecessary thoughts in the back of his mind. He approached the foot of the lone mountain. The size of the mountain was not that big.

And it was not that lean as well. There were some flat sides on the mountain slopes. It was a good place for any beast to hide and live.

After arriving at the foot of the mountain, he started his work. He used his eye power to scan the place. His mission was to find the Lone Wolf-a Lone Wolf which was close to becoming a Tier-6 Lone Wolf.

He had fought a couple of Tier-6 beasts and survived last night. It was his first time facing that many higher-tier beasts. But he survived in the end.

It gave him more confidence. So, even if any uncertainty appeared, he was not afraid. He continued to look for footprints with a calm mind.

As time passed, he tried to cover the base first. So, he started walking around the base. If he could find a single footprint, then he could do something to trace the rest of the footprints.

He walked through the tall vegetation. The undisturbed vegetation showed that there was no recent activity here.

He may have been walking along a straight path, but his eyes covered most of the field. He didn’t find any paw prints of the wolf.

But he did come across paw prints of other beasts.

He covered half of the distance. Then, he saw something suspicious: the footprints of wolf beasts. But here, the footprints were not one, but many.

The size of the footprints also suggested that it could be a Tier-5 beast. It matched well with that. But he didn’t hurry to make a conclusion.

He used his eye power to make comparisons. Soon, he found out the paw prints were different. They belonged to different wolf beasts.

It could be from a different wolf pack, not related to the Mountain Wolf. Jeremy then sighed in relief. He was glad that he was able to discern and make the correct choice.

He then resumed the journey. He walked through the dense vegetation.

Forenoon

He came across flat land. The flat land led to the mountain range. He used his eyes to observe the place again. He found out that the foot path was not natural. It was created by the movement of beasts.

On a whim, he started following the footpath. It took him high up into the mountain. It didn’t take long for the path to become narrower. Yet, he continued walking along the path.

When the narrow side path came to an end, he entered a flat land. There, he saw something like a cave right in front of him.

His heart skipped a beat. His eyes caught something sleeping inside the cave. It could be the target. He then continued to use his eye power to discern the beast sleeping inside the cave.

Soon, he found out that the beast’s frame was similar to that of a wolf beast. What was more, the size of the beast matched that of a Tier-6 beast.

He didn’t want to waste time. He decided to end it cleanly. He unsheathed his blade. He quickly covered the blade’s edge with starlight power.

One after another, the starlight threads were stacked. The blade’s edge glowed with white light.

He pointed the blade downward and started walking towards the cave. His gaze was locked onto the beast sleeping inside.

He went towards the entrance. He saw the massive head of the beast and its pointed ears. His gaze then fell on the body and the tail.

His gaze then spotted a massive claw wound at the abdomen of the beast. There was a pool of blood on the ground.

Jeremy Night then used his second eye power. Next, he confirmed that the beast was dead. It had bled to death.

His heart set off storms. The Tier-6 Mountain Wolf was attacked by another beast. He didn’t know which beast it was. He walked up to the corpse and touched it. His gaze then fell on the pool of blood.

He figured that the beast was killed a few hours ago. He then collected the corpse into his storage ring. Next, he used his eye power to scan the cave.

He decided to go further inside. He went deeper inside the passage. He reached the end of the passage. His gaze then slowly landed on the ground.

He saw a glowing, green-colored fruit. The next second, he felt a huge craving from his cells.

Buzz!

The unknown beast egg became active. The next second, the green-colored fruit disappeared and appeared inside his mental zone.

The unknown beast began to suck the fruit’s energy. The green energy entered the eggshell and disappeared into it.

Seeing that, Jeremy Night’s heart was stirred. He knew anything that excited the unknown beast egg was no ordinary treasure.

His gaze then fell on the place where the wolf beast had died. He wondered whether the wolf beast had died protecting the treasure.

He let out a deep sigh. No wonder the mission said that the beast was closer to becoming a Tier-6 beast.

The Mountain Wolf must have consumed a similar fruit for the breakthrough, but it was attacked and killed later.

Jeremy frowned. He didn’t know which beast had done it. He wanted to know whether the beast lived on this mountain. He had to be careful.

To think a Tier-6 beast was killed by a single claw attack-the attacker could be a Tier-7 beast.

He had faced a Tier-7 beast before. But it was not a confrontation. At that time, his strength was so weak that the beast had ignored him.

But if he faced the same beast right now, he doubted whether the beast would spare him.
