Chapter 931: Part 2: Close Combat Training
4th Zone- Special Base
"I heard you fought against a Tier-5 Beast Tamer named Luke," John said.
Hearing that, Jeremy was not surprised.
"Yes, he wanted to teach me a lesson. But he was weak," Jeremy replied.
"It shows that faction infighting has started. Most of them will try to get you into their camp. They will try to force you to give up your neutral stance."
"But don’t worry. I will make it clear in the next meeting. They won’t force you," he said.
"Thanks," Jeremy replied.
"There is one more thing I wanted to know. It’s about your close combat technique. What’s the progress?" Elder John asked.
Hearing that, Jeremy Night extended his hand. Then he created a weak vibration in his palm.
Elder John saw the palm and noticed the rapid relaxation and contraction of the muscles. His eyes flashed with approval.
He could tell that Jeremy Night was not slacking.
"Continue with the training. Then you will be able to transfer the vibration to objects soon," John commented.
Then they continued to have a discussion for 15 minutes. Jeremy used the opportunity to clear some doubts. He had already gotten permission to skip missions for a couple of days.
He was going to focus on his training. He then left the room.
A couple of days passed by.
Jeremy Night went to the training facility and entered one of the rooms to train. There was a practice dummy inside the room.
He started with a wooden puppet. Jeremy Night struck the wooden puppet all of a sudden. His right hand was covered in a weak vibration.
It was going to last more than one second.
Boom!!
The weak vibration struck the wooden puppet. The next second, the wooden puppet blasted into pieces.
He looked at his hand as the vibration slowly faded away. He had figured out a way during the practice session earlier.
He used natural energy to create stronger vibrations. As a result, the vibration was not only strong, but it lasted for more than one second.
The natural energy gave more power behind the brute force during close combat. His body cells filled with natural energy power.
He understood how his predecessor was able to create the close combat technique. He must have wanted to use natural energy to aid him in close combat.
That’s how the vibration came into the picture. He collected his thoughts and continued with his practice against the dummy puppets.
The close combat technique was a great skill. Combined with eye power, it was even more deadly. If he had used the vibration attack against Luke, then his arm would have been crippled.
Jeremy Night spent an hour in training. Then he switched to another technique. It was the "Star Fist" technique.
He didn’t want to lag behind in other techniques. He rarely used Star Fist, but it was one of his trump cards.
...
Meanwhile,
Elder Carter was in his office room. He was keeping track of the young man’s activities. He knew that the young man was practically living inside the facility.
He hadn’t picked a single mission in the last couple of days. Because of it, the young man’s rankings dropped on the leaderboard.
Carter was worried. There was no news from the second-year Beast Taming Team. Ever since that day, they had never returned from the wilderness.
This time, it was not a single student, but a whole Beast Taming Team that was lost. There were 6 members in the team. All six members were lost. There was no response from the team.
Buzz!
Suddenly, his device buzzed. He then opened the message and read it.
"An emergency meeting is convening," Carter said.
He then stood up and left the room. Similarly, the other elders left their offices, including Elder John. Everyone was going to the meeting hall.
Meeting Hall
Elder Sandra was sitting in the main seat. Her eyebrows furrowed. She was waiting for the others to come.
It didn’t take long for the elders to enter the hall. They were surprised to see Elder Sandra before them. They went to their respective seats one by one.
Elder John came in and went to his seat.
Similarly, Carter and the others went toward their seats. Everyone’s face was solemn. They didn’t know what was going on.
Only Carter had some idea, but he dared not show any clue on his face.
Sandra swept her gaze across the room. She saw that all 12 elders had gathered there.
She then said, "6 Beast Tamers from the second year have gone missing. They were seen going into the wilderness, but they never came back."
"But their mission records show no mission was selected during that time. They went to the wilderness without a mission."
"Can anyone tell me what happened to them?" Sandra asked them.
Hearing that, the faces of the elders changed drastically. They didn’t expect to hear such grim news. Some of the elders already knew about the matter.
Especially the elders who were responsible for the second-year students. None of them had any answers. They were confused.
John was observing the others. He could only think of two things. Either they had encountered some opportunity in the wilderness, or it could be related to faction infighting.
He shook his head and ignored the second possibility. He doubted whether the elders would be stupid enough to instruct something like that.
By doing so, it would piss off the Human Alliance. They had suffered casualties recently. It was not wise for them to do that. So, he thought it must be related to the first possibility.
The second-year students might have encountered some opportunity in the wilderness, and they didn’t want others to know about it.
Carter was pondering outwardly, but his heart was restless inside. Those students had been to his office, and it had been seen by a few elders as well.
Sandra looked toward Carter. She thought of something.
She asked, "Elder Carter, I heard the missing students often paid visits to your office. Can you tell me what’s going on?"
Hearing that, everyone turned toward Elder Carter.
Carter quickly collected his thoughts.
He said, "Elder, it’s true that they came to see me often. But it was related to their missions. I don’t know what happened to them either."
Hearing that, the others remained quiet.
