Chapter 917: Elder Carter’s schemes

4th Zone- Special Base

Jeremy was waiting for Elder Smith to come. In the meantime, he was observing the items. There were other elders who were handling the mission tasks.

Slowly, his gaze fell on the leaderboard rankings.

[1. Tier-5 Beast Tamer, Wade - 11,500points]

[2. Tier-5 Beast Tamer, Irene - 10,800 points] 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

[3. Tier-5 Beast Tamer, Luthor - 10,240 points]

He saw their leaderboard points had increased again. He didn’t know how many Corrupted beasts they had killed to achieve these numbers.

His goal was to reach the top rankings, but this would require unreal effort from him.

Not long after, Elder Smith arrived. He submitted the mission materials and reported to him before leaving the place.

When he arrived at his room, he received a message on his device. His leaderboard ranking was updated. After entering the room, he closed the door.

He sat on the chair and leaned back. Right now, there was something else to focus on. Someone was targeting him. The mastermind had used a second-year student to target him.

He was not naive. He knew there were factions inside. He must have touched someone’s interests. But he hadn’t joined any of the factions.

It had been only a few days since he had come here. Yet, the mastermind wanted him dead. Suddenly, he thought of the arrogant young people from the 4th zone.

He had already confronted them in the 4th zone. He had faced them here. Jeremy raised his eyebrows. He didn’t want to believe it without evidence.

But he thought they could be involved as well. He then made a decision to keep a low profile and continue doing missions. He should not stop taking missions.

Otherwise, it would alert the mastermind. Now that he had completed the mission, the mastermind won’t suspect him.

But if he stopped doing missions all of a sudden, they would become curious. Not only that, Jeremy Night decided not to tell Elder John as well.

Elder John might be a good person, but he was already familiar with the other elders. He had a working relationship with them.

If he spilled the beans, then it would become troublesome. The mastermind might take direct action against him.

He could escape from a Tier-6 Beast or Beast Tamer, but he couldn’t fight above their Tiers. He needed to reach Tier-4 Rank as soon as possible for that.

After figuring it out, he took a deep breath.

...

Elder Carter’s Office

A burly middle-aged man was seated behind the desk. He frowned, looking at the report. He had sent a second-year student, Marcus, to kill that young Tier-3 Beast Tamer at the Green Swamp.

He heard from the elder working at the mission desk that Jeremy Night had returned. He successfully submitted the mission materials before going back.

It showed that the young man completed the mission and returned. Then what about Marcus? The report said Marcus had not returned from the wilderness.

"What happened?"

"Is he dead?" He was puzzled.

He suspected some beast had killed Marcus, or he could have been killed by other faction members. Each slot in the special base was important. It was a hot potato.

If you are weak, you will be replaced by someone else. Though everyone knew about it, the elders had decided to turn a blind eye if there were one or two incidents.

Because they didn’t want to get involved in a fight between the forces. They couldn’t pick a side, but they could support a faction. They would be responsible for their safety and training.

That’s how he got the request from the families in the 4th zone to eliminate the brat. At first, he was shocked. But later, he got the intel.

During the young man’s trip to the 4th Zone, he had offended a group of young masters. The young masters happened to be under his faction.

He knew that the new members were Tier-4 Beast Tamers. He didn’t expect those families to act so decisively.

A quick gleam appeared in his eyes.

He knew that Jeremy Night was a genius. Though the kid was a STRIKER, he had the ability to fight across Tiers. He had proven his skill during the battle.

Now, the recent missions were showing that he was the real deal. He had seen other elders praising Elder John’s eye for talent.

Even Head Sandra didn’t question the appointment. If this kid continued to perform like this, then his rankings on the leaderboard would improve.

That’s why he had taken action earlier. He had sent Marcus to kill the kid. Since the kid was alive and Marcus had not come back, he thought something had happened to him.

He was not going to investigate that matter. He just wanted the kid dead.

He decided to use other second-year students. Since the kid could kill a Tier-5 beast, he thought the current first-years were no match for him.

Even if the first-year students were S-Grade Talents, the ability to fight across Tiers was rare. It could only be found in the top three zones.

He could understand those families’ restlessness. After making some decisions, he contacted a few Captains of the Beast Taming Teams to come to his room.

10 minutes later,

Three middle-aged men entered the room. The aura from their bodies showed that they were Tier-6 Beast Tamers. Everyone had their names in the top 50 of the Leaderboard Rankings.

That was how they had their own Beast Taming Teams.

Elder Carter didn’t create any suspense. He directly told them about the task. The three Captains were shocked.

It was nothing new for them to kill members because of a faction fight, but they had heard that the new Tier-3 Beast Tamer was recruited by Elder John.

They didn’t want to offend Elder John, and they didn’t know why the elder would want that kid dead.

Elder Carter saw through their thoughts.

"The kid offended the families in the Tier-4 region. Even if the kid goes outside, the families won’t let him go," he said to them.

Hearing that, they were shocked. They understood the reason. In the end, only one of them agreed. The other two were afraid of Elder John.
