Chapter 916: Part 2: A new threat
Green Swamp
The middle-aged man was dead. He had collapsed into a pool of blood.
After confirming the middle-aged man was dead, Jeremy Night sighed in relief. But he was confused. He didn’t know why the middle-aged man had tried to kill him.
The middle-aged man had come here to kill him, which meant he recognized him.
Clearly, he was acting on orders. He didn’t know the middle-aged man before. Who could it be? Jeremy’s eyes flashed with coldness.
He was not a fool. He must have made some people uneasy. There were factions here, and each elder supported one faction.
He should be careful in his movements. He made the right decision not to expose his true strength. Everyone knew that he could handle a Tier-5 beast.
But if they knew he could slay a Tier-6 beast, he would face more threats.
His gaze then fell on the corpse. Then, he looked toward the green swamp. There were beasts inside; the corpse would be eaten by them.
He picked up the corpse and entered the green swamp. He went a little deeper before dumping the corpse on the low-lying land.
Nighttime had come. He could already see many sparkling lights those were the eyes of the beasts. He left the corpse there before coming back to the shore.
He then removed the traces of blood on the ground. He didn’t even touch the storage ring for a reason.
After waiting for some time, he confirmed that there was no one nearby. He then left the place. He was still looking for the Dotted Grey Spider.
If the death of the middle-aged man was exposed, people would definitely look for the reason.
He took the green swamp mission today. If he didn’t complete the mission today, it would draw unwanted attention.
Time passed.
Finally, he found the traces. His eyes spotted the spider webs on the tree. His eyes gleamed with a twinkle.
He continued to follow the spider webs. By following the trail, he went deeper. In the end, it led to a cave structure.
He knew it. There must be some isolated place. He didn’t expect to find one far away from the green swamp.
He then unsheathed the blade and added more starlight thread to the edge of the blade.
He then slowly walked toward the cave structure. The cave structure was over 10 meters in height. He entered the passage.
His eye power penetrated the dark passage. He could see spider webs everywhere. There were also remains of skeletons on the ground.
Screech!
He used his second eye power to penetrate the passage. He saw a massive red figure resting inside. It had eight legs.
He sheathed the blade and took the handgun from the case. He held the handgun in his hand. Then, he began to cover the bullets with starlight power.
He continued to analyze the size of the beast. From its size, it appeared to be a Tier-5 beast.
Bang! Bang!
He fired continuous shots at the resting beast.
Swoosh!
White streaks of light went toward the target in a straight line.
The bullets came in contact with the body of the Tier-5 beast. The next second, the skin and flesh failed to block the bullets.
Pfff!
The bullets penetrated inside before puncturing the inner organs. The inner organs burst into pieces.
Screech!
The Tier-5 spider beast let out a scream before waking up. It was already injured. Blood was gushing out from the injuries like rain.
The blood dyed the ground.
The Tier-5 Dotted Grey Spider tried to rush toward the exit.
Jeremy Night saw the beast coming to the exit as well. He didn’t continue to fire shots; he wanted the beast to appear outside.
He left the cave while putting the handgun back in the case. He then unsheathed the blade. The blade’s edge shone with white light.
Swoosh!
The Tier-5 Dotted Grey Spider appeared outside.
Jeremy Night confirmed that it was a Dotted Grey Spider. The compound eyes of the spider beast fell on him.
Boom!
The injured spider beast shot a spider web at him.
"Explosive Steps"
Jeremy used the movement to accelerate his speed. Using his eye power, he evaded the spider webs.
When he got closer toward its side, he immediately used a blade move.
"Shadow Slash"
He swung the blade at its side. The blade cut through the flesh and created a deep wound.
He then withdrew the blade before striking at a leg.
Pfff!
The blade cut through the leg. He didn’t stop and continued to attack the beast.
Ten minutes later,
He severed the eight legs of the spider beast. The spider beast was already dead; it had bled to death in the end.
He then used his power to locate the venom sac and began to remove it.
Fifteen minutes later,
He collected the venom sac inside the storage ring.
He then left the place and began going back toward the special base. He left the corpse in front of the cave.
The spider beast’s corpse would become food for other beasts. He was glad that he had completed the task.
After going back, he needed to stay quiet for a few days. He needed to find out which faction was targeting him.
At least, he needed to find out the elder behind the person.
Time passed.
Just before sunrise, he reached the special base. He then went toward the admin building.
On the way, he came across other members. They simply looked at him. He didn’t pay attention to them.
Soon, he reached the building. After getting inside, he went straight toward the counter.
His gaze swept across the place. He was looking for Elder Smith. He didn’t see him there. He wanted to submit the task before the time was over.
He then took his device and called Elder Smith right away.
After hearing that he had come to submit the task, Elder Smith said that he would be there in 10 minutes.
