Chapter 344: Chapter 344: Sturdy and Durable

段诚 glanced at Mrs. Gould, urging everyone in a deep voice, "Hurry up, the boss’s health is not to be delayed!"

And so, Elias Langley was carried to the clinic.

Gary Gould was still afraid that Juliana Jacobs would cause trouble on the way, so he kept a firm grip on her wrist.

Upon arriving at the clinic, they saw two large coffins placed at the entrance.

After inquiries, they learned that the Marshall brothers had succumbed to their injuries and died.

Mrs. Marshall returned to the village to select a burial site and said that once her two sons were buried, she’d settle accounts with the woman who set the fire.

Gary Gould gave Juliana Jacobs a vicious glare and warned her in a low voice, "You see? If you act out, I’ll throw you to Mrs. Marshall. She’ll skin you alive."

Juliana Jacobs bit her lip, her face showing fear, remaining silent.

In reality, she was laughing inside.

Not having burned Mrs. Marshall to death was a pity, but losing her sons was a divine punishment.

Elias Langley was placed on a hospital bed at the clinic.

However, the clinic’s doctor was ill and couldn’t examine him.

Fortunately, the ambulance from the county hadn’t left, and the emergency doctor took a look and immediately suggested transferring him to the county hospital, warning that any delay might result in an amputation.

Caleb Donovan gave Gary Gould a hefty slap on the shoulder. "Why are you still standing there? Didn’t you hear the doctor say it’s serious? You both need to come with us to the county!"

Gary Gould was somewhat unwilling, but several medical staff surrounded them without further ado, half pushing and half dragging him and Juliana Jacobs onto the ambulance.

The doors closed, the siren blared, and the ambulance sped towards the county.

As the ambulance rounded a mountain curve and the town’s rooftops disappeared from the rearview mirror, Elias Langley suddenly threw off the thin blanket covering him, discarded the carrot in his hand, and sat up from the stretcher. In two strides, he reached the back of the vehicle and extended his hand to Juliana Jacobs, who was seated on the metal floor.

Gary Gould, sitting beside Juliana Jacobs, hadn’t focused his astonished gaze before Caleb Donovan struck his temple with a punch, rendering him unconscious.

Meanwhile, the doctor and nurses in the ambulance shed their disguises and donned combat camouflage suits.

Elias Langley pulled Juliana Jacobs into his embrace.

In this cold weather, making her wander in the fog with only thin clothes and being pinched by Mrs. Gould hurt him deeply.

But to keep up the act, he had to endure it.

He settled Juliana Jacobs onto the ambulance seat, quickly shed his own coat to wrap her icy body, then squatted down to grip the iron chain on her foot.

The chain was forged from raw iron, its sharp and rough edges had worn her delicate skin into a conspicuous red mark, with several spots bleeding.

Elias Langley’s face immediately darkened.

Caleb Donovan quickly said beside him, "Raine Kane has tools that can unlock it."

Elias Langley didn’t respond, instead wrapping gauze around Juliana Jacobs’s ankles.

They soon arrived at the meeting point.

Raine Kane was already waiting, eager to act.

Earlier, she’d insisted on accompanying Elias Langley into the town, but he didn’t agree.

There were places where men had an easier time maneuvering.

Upon seeing Juliana Jacobs looking pale but otherwise unharmed, Raine Kane’s long-held worry finally subsided.

The iron chain was removed, Elias Langley carried Juliana Jacobs into a nearby ordinary-looking SUV.

"Mr. Langley," Raine Kane requested outside the vehicle, "the contact with Old Mr. Sinclair is Dale Gould. According to intel, he went out ’on business’ yesterday. The police are hunting him. What about the other two... how do we handle them?"

Elias Langley held Juliana Jacobs in his arms without even lifting his eyelids, merely making a throat-cutting gesture.

Raine Kane understood and nodded towards someone who looked like a commander standing not far behind.

That person nodded and spoke two sentences into a walkie-talkie.

Suddenly, the air was filled with the dull roar of helicopter rotors stirring from mountains on both sides.

Meanwhile, on the distant highway, a convoy of green vehicles drove grandly toward the town.

Raine Kane climbed into the passenger seat, Caleb Donovan hit the accelerator, steering the vehicle toward the county.

Juliana Jacobs nestled in Elias Langley’s arms, only finding a thread of safety as she listened to his strong heartbeat.

"Are you going to annihilate them completely?" she asked.

Elias Langley laughed at her words, his voice inexplicably gentle.

"Annihilate, is your husband a villain?"

He rubbed his chin on the top of her head.

"This place, from the town down to the several villages below, has rotted into a cancerous tumor. Local forces can’t handle it. This time, I’ve coordinated manpower to help uproot this den of corruption. It’s possible to deal with one or two vile criminals under a legal framework, but for the rest, let the law give them their due punishment."

Juliana Jacobs was hurt by his beard, rubbed her forehead and softly spoke in his ear so only the two of them could hear, "If it’s really bad there, it might not prick so much."

Elias Langley immediately frowned and tightened his arms around her.

"This is reserved for ’disciplining’ you, it’ll only become firmer and more durable, never a problem."

Juliana Jacobs’s face instantly turned red, her ears burning.

Not daring to continue the conversation, she buried her flushed face into his chest, greedily absorbing his scent, as if to make up for all the lost sense of security in recent days.

Once at a county facility, the group washed off a layer of dust and changed into clean clothes.

Elias Langley and Juliana Jacobs donned thick winter jackets, cashmere scarves tightly covering their jaws, and wore low-key styled sunglasses, nearly covering their entire faces.

Fully equipped, they politely declined local hospitality, boarded another black sedan awaiting in the courtyard, and headed toward the provincial capital airport.

Around two in the afternoon, the sun shone brilliantly.

Their car rolled into the C65 highway service area to refuel on water and snacks.

Caleb Donovan parked not too far or close to a charging point.

Upon exiting, he turned respectfully toward the back seats, "Mr. Langley, please wait a moment, I’ll go buy some instant noodles so we can eat on the road and save time."

While what was said inside the car couldn’t be heard by outsiders,

Caleb Donovan bowed slightly before heading toward the service area supermarket.

At that moment, a loud "boom" rang out.

A small truck charging exploded into a ball of fire, causing thick smoke to billow all around.

Clearly, someone did not want them returning to Kingsford.

Caleb Donovan was momentarily startled before rushing back.

Simultaneously, a nearby black commercial vehicle’s door slid open sharply, and seven agile men in black combat gear filed out.

Trained and coordinated, they instantly formed a tactical formation.

Three charged at Caleb Donovan, forming a blockade; four encircled the car.

Raine Kane had sensed the danger and, as the men jumped out, she too flung open the passenger door and dashed out, engaging in hand-to-hand combat with two of them.

Though both she and Caleb Donovan were skilled, their opponents were ruthless and vicious, leaving them outmatched and quickly overwhelmed.

The leading man gestured sharply, and immediately two rushed to the sedan’s back doors, each pulling a door open aggressively.

But as the doors flung open, both black-clad men simultaneously jolted before dropping silently to the ground, unmoving.

As two figures emerged from the back seat, the remaining men froze...
