Chapter 335: Chapter 335: Desperate to Break Through the Wall to Confront Juliana Jacobs
Juliana finished saying this and, ignoring her reaction, continued to leave with Elias.
Sebastian pursued them to the courtyard, sitting in an electric wheelchair.
He shouted, "Elias!"
Elias stopped and, after glancing back at him, squeezed Juliana’s hand.
"Go rest in the car for a bit, I’ll be right back."
Juliana nodded.
The two went to the study.
With the door closed, Sebastian immediately said gravely, "Sean Paxton invited me out today, hinting that my daughter is in his hands and wants me to exchange for a USB drive."
Elias was not surprised at all.
"Clara Fairchild has been under their control, and Old Mr. Paxton personally supervised another DNA test on her. The result shows she is indeed your daughter. But they couldn’t get anything out of Clara’s mouth, so they’ve had to resort to this final step."
Sebastian immediately caught the underlying meaning.
Elias not only has someone planted beside Dylan Paxton but also has the capability to swap biological samples right under his nose.
Given Dylan Paxton’s suspicions, it would require over ten years of planning to achieve this.
Sebastian laughed coldly, "Before departure back then, I gave the item to Helena, but where she put it, I do not know. Threatening me is useless. However, I did follow Sean Paxton’s hint and acted out a desperate show."
Elias nodded, "You performed well. As for Clara Fairchild... I initially felt some pity for her; after all, it was her greed for money that led to her being used by me. But her ambition swelled, displeasing Juliana. Sacrificing this pawn, I now feel no remorse."
Sebastian seemed to understand the deeper meaning in his words, "Do you intend to add a life to Dylan Paxton’s hands?"
Elias lowered his eyes, his professional habit stopping him from revealing his plan.
"Dad, since Sean Paxton has the intention to threaten you, Mrs. Sinclair won’t be out of the loop for long. Do you plan on letting her know?"
Sebastian immediately furrowed his brows, a hint of helplessness in his fatigue.
"She’s deeply poisoned; unless she awakens herself, letting her know Juliana’s identity now is harmful. I... will watch and manage it."
Elias had his thoughts on Juliana and intended to leave once their business was concluded.
Sebastian stopped him again, saying meaningfully, "Sean Paxton is Dylan Paxton’s claw, ruthless in his actions, never leaving room. Though you were classmates, some obstacles... to topple Dylan Paxton, you must first remove his sharpest claw."
"I understand."
Elias finished speaking, turned and opened the door to leave.
Outside stood Mrs. Sinclair, preparing to say something as Elias came out, but he ignored her and left directly.
She felt awkward for a moment and then saw Sebastian maneuvering the wheelchair slowly out.
She hurried forward two steps, saying, "Sebastian, what on earth is going on?"
Sebastian looked at her, his eyes obscured and uncertain.
"For you to ask this means you’ve already inclined towards believing the answer. You’ve cherished Florence like a treasure—what else can I tell you?"
He moved the wheelchair forward a half step, raising his head to look at his wife of many years, his gaze carrying a complex scrutiny.
"Thank you for supporting my career without reservation for the first half of your life. But, madam, different paths diverge. You now and Florence are like a natural mother and daughter; I... find it difficult to accept."
"You... you’re saying this... am I an evil person in your eyes as well?"
Mrs. Sinclair felt an unprecedented sense of crisis rising in her heart.
Sebastian did not respond but looked toward Caleb Sinclair.
"I know you are loyal, but above loyalty, there’s right and wrong. Knowing it’s wrong yet blindly following is not loyalty but foolishness—I do not appreciate it, and it will be your own undoing."
Caleb suppressed his emotional turmoil, bowing his head, "Uncle, I was wrong."
Sebastian was not as harsh with him as he was with Mrs. Sinclair, softening his tone a little later.
"Your aunt and I will separate for a while; move all my belongings to the study."
Caleb nodded and immediately went to handle it.
"Sebastian..."
Mrs. Sinclair was about to speak when the butler hurriedly ran over.
"Sir, madam, Old Mr. Hughes is here."
"What does he want?" Mrs. Sinclair asked.
The butler bowed his head, "Old Mr. Hughes said the second miss has low manners, even scheming against her own fiancé. With such conduct, she isn’t fit to marry into the Hughes Family, or any ordinary decent family. He’s here to break off the engagement."
Mrs. Sinclair suddenly felt a headache...
A house servant, who regularly received little favors from Florence, informed her about the breakup of the engagement between the Sinclair and Hughes Families in the evening.
Having lost the identity of the Sinclair second miss was already a sword hanging over her head, and now even the future daughter-in-law halo from the Hughes Family was gone. The double blow enraged Florence enough to want to break through walls to seek revenge against Juliana.
But she soon calmed down.
To deal with Juliana, there is still someone in the Sinclair Family she could use.
In the evening, Old Mr. Sinclair came back from outside and was invited to the backyard by a house servant.
Old Mr. Sinclair usually doted on this adoptive daughter, and upon hearing Florence’s pitiful and distorted accusations, he was immediately furious.
Breaking off the engagement was a disgrace to the Sinclair Family.
His son’s foolishness was the reason he was tricked by that woman.
Originally, after being detained last time, he had restrained himself for a few days, but provoked by Florence, his anger couldn’t be stifled, and he donned his "war armor" again.
"Girl, rest assured, you won’t stay here long. Leave Juliana to me; I will make Elias marry you!"
...
Juliana rested for a day and then went to work at The Innovation Hub.
Elias intended to persuade her to recuperate a few more days, but ultimately, he couldn’t go against her resolve and personally sent her to the entrance of The Innovation Hub.
She had been working for under two hours when Raine Kane knocked and entered.
"Juliana, Sean Paxton is here."
Juliana shifted her gaze from the holographic design, slightly furrowing her brows.
Previously, Sean Paxton would arrange meetings in an outside tea room or other venues.
Today, he directly came to The Innovation Hub, seemingly an official visit.
His intention was likely more complex than before.
She paused for a moment, "Let him in."
When Sean Paxton came in, he was still dressed in a neat suit, smiling gently, appearing quite the gentleman.
But how many of Elias’s opponents are not wolves in human clothing?
"Long time no see, Mr. Paxton."
Juliana greeted him with a smile but did not stand up to welcome him.
Sean Paxton did not mind, sitting down smoothly on the guest chair with a bright face.
"I’m here to give President Jacobs money; will President Jacobs accept?"
Juliana raised her eyebrow without speaking.
Sean Paxton smiled, "The potential and significance of ’Genesis,’ you understand better than I do. The generation of my uncle was accustomed to forceful acquisition, but that doesn’t work today. President Jacobs holds technology that can change the landscape, which is an opportunity but also carries significant risks. Why not change the perspective, hold jointly, develop jointly? Some paths not only lie in the open, and some markets are far broader than what’s visible."
Juliana caught on.
Unlike before, Sean Paxton was enticing her to join his gray alliance.
