Chapter 283: The Right Words

"Sorry, Doc," I said with a cringe as the wrist blades on Da’kea’s armor extended in a really unfriendly manner. I was pretty sure that a simple apology was not going to go over well, but I liked the woman, so I was willing to try and smooth things over.

"It’s been a long few months, as I am sure you can imagine, and the guys take pretty much everything we say literally. They think that you are actually going to open me up and see inside me," I explained, narrowing my eyes at Da’kea. I wanted and needed Doctor Deshaye a lot more than I wanted and needed him at this second.

"Apologies," grunted Da’kea as he sheathed his blades. "Witnessing the youngling has made me worried about the safety of my mate."

Dr. Deshaye looked at him with a very unimpressed look on her face, but I had to hand it to her; she hadn’t flinched a bit.

"We are going to get back to your statement in just a minute. But I suggest that any and all weapons are hidden from now on, or we are going to have some trouble. Do you understand me?" She rose to an impressive 5’9" and glared at my mate, who towered over her. I was impressed.

"How do you feel about abductions?" I asked, cocking my head to the side and looking at the woman. I hadn’t seen a wedding ring, but that didn’t mean she would be willing to leave Earth just to help me give birth. Maybe if I promised to bring her back after?

"For myself or others?" she shot back, raising an eyebrow before pulling the small black stool beside the exam bed closer to her and sitting down.

I chuckled and lifted my sweater again so she could squeeze some frigging cold gel onto the not-so-small baby bump. Neither one of us spoke as she pressed the transductor wand into my skin and pushed the gel around.

"Want to tell me what happened?" she asked as she stared at the screen in front of her.

"Not to sound melodramatic, but you are going to have to be a bit more precise in your question," I laughed. She smiled at me before flicking a button, and the whooshing sound started up again, filling the room with the baby’s heartbeat. Well, according to the doctor, babies.

"I am pretty sure that I am aware of exactly how you became pregnant," she smirked, moving the wand around to a different section of my stomach. "I am more interested in how you all met."

I gave her a brief summary of how I met the guys, skipping over the part of years of torture, dissection, the Sisalik, the Alliance, and the whole universal breeder thing. I didn’t realize that without all that, the story only took me a few minutes.

"There are more human women out there?" she asked, taking the wand away from my belly and looking at my face.

"There are," I answered. "We started out with 11, two died due to... reasons... and the third one was an evil bitch that tried to take over the universe."

Deshaye grunted and nodded her head. "For your information, I think it would be phenomenal to be abducted by aliens." She smirked at me before turning her attention over to the guys. "Alright, let’s show you the babies." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

The guys stared at her wide-eyed, and then Ye’tab went to stand right behind her and started asking a whole bunch of questions about what the ultrasound was and how it operated.

She took the container of gel and again squirted it on my stomach. "There are four different babies, and all appear to be dizygotic or fraternal," she started, but Ye’tab quickly interrupted her.

"What does that mean?" he demanded, inches away from the image on the screen. I was sure that if he could, he would have crawled into the ultrasound machine to learn all of its secrets.

"It means that four different eggs were fertilized by four different sperms," replied the doctor, raising her finger and pushing Ye’tab’s forehead until he moved back and gave her some space.

"So, each of us is a father?" asked Da’kea, his voice holding a note of awe as he clenched his hands. I didn’t know if that meant he was happy or upset with that outcome.

"I can’t say that for sure. But one fetus," she answered before placing the wand in a location on my upper stomach, "Looks to have a muzzle?" she continued, looking at me with a confused look on her face.

I couldn’t stop the blush that appeared on my face if I tried. Yeah, that was a very awkward conversation to have with your doctor. ’Gee, doc. I promise that no animal was used or abused in the creation of that fetus."

"He would be mine," said Midnight, removing his nano armor to reveal his true face. To her credit, Deshaye didn’t so much as gasp as she looked him up and down.

"I can’t confirm if it is a male or a female," she muttered. "The little bugger has his or her legs crossed."

She then moved to another section of my stomach and pointed at the image on the screen. Realizing that I couldn’t see it well, she turned the monitor toward me and then pointed to something that looked like... a baby.

"This one is definitely male and has long teeth?" she continued, her brows scrunched in both confusion and concern.

"One of ours," grunted GA, taking off his armor to show his outer mandibles and tusks. The other three Saalistaja males grunted their agreement.

Dr. Deshaye raised her eyebrows as she studied his tusks. "Sorry, human infants don’t have any teeth until they are over four months old. To see one on the ultrasound is..." She trailed off, trying to find the right word to describe it.

"Disconcerting," I offered with a smile. She chuckled and nodded her head.

"Disconcerting works," she agreed before turning her attention to the last two fetuses inside me and pointing out their tusks as well. Every Saalistaja was male, and I was willing to put money on the fact that Midnight’s baby was too.

Wiping off the gel from my stomach, Doctor Deshaye looked at me seriously.

"So, how does one get abducted by aliens?"
