Chapter 61: What... father?

Yeon shook his head frantically, the panic in his voice rising as he tried to make his father understand the sheer danger of their situation.

"I mean Leon is probably furious... looking for revenge! We should be worried about whatever power he’s got his hands on, we should... take it from him instead, dad! He’s trash, he doesn’t dese—"

However, Teon casually waved his thick hand in the air, dismissing his son’s intense panic with a flick of his wrist.

He didn’t want to hear another word of complaint about Leon’s worthiness, his dark eyes locked onto Yeon as he said, "Yeah, he’s powerful, but he’ll jump at any chance to come back into this guild. You don’t know him like I do, you’re just a kid at the end of the day."

Teon felt that Leon’s greatest feature had always been his desperate, burning desire to be welcomed back to the Roaring Lions Guild.

He believed that no matter how much power Leon had somehow managed to steal or acquire, the core of his character remained that of a needy, rejected child who would do absolutely anything to earn his family’s approval.

He could still clearly remember how the young boy had begged and pleaded for him to be accepted back into the fold.

On the day of his exile, Leon had practically thrown himself at his father’s feet, weeping and begging for another chance to prove his worth to the family.

But Teon had simply ignored him back then, stepping right over his trembling, pathetic form without offering a single word of comfort or a second glance as the guards dragged him away.

Teon’s eyes suddenly flashed with a strange glint in the dim light of the office.

’This was only a little over a year ago...’ he thought.’By offering him what he wanted the most—his place in the family and the prestige of the guild—he’ll come running back like a lost puppy, hehe.’

He was sure that Leon killing those players and making that dramatic declaration on the shaky camera was only a desperate attempt to get his attention.

In his mind, Leon was just throwing a tantrum to show off his new toys, hoping that his father would finally look at him with pride.

Yeon stared at his father, his face turning incredibly pale as he realized how deeply the older man was underestimating the danger.

He swallowed hard, his voice trembling as he said, "W-what if you’re wrong... and Leon doesn’t want to come back to... u-us. Aren’t you scared... of what he could do... we don’t even know the full mi—"

Teon’s eyes suddenly changed, the warmth of his arrogant amusement vanishing in an instant.

"Then I’ll kill him."

Yeon felt a strong chill run down his spine as he heard those terrifying words, the cold air in his lungs making it incredibly difficult to breathe.

The raw, murderous intent rolling off his father was so intense that his survival instincts took complete control of his movements.

He subconsciously stepped backwards, trying to put some distance between himself and the monster standing behind the desk.

Teon gently dropped his fist onto the wooden table, making a movement so incredibly light and effortless that it looked like he was merely resting his hand.

However, the moment his knuckles made contact with the surface, a gentle shockwave rippled through the structure.

The massive, expensive desk immediately crumbled into fine powder, collapsing onto the floor in a silent heap without leaving a single piece behind.

He looked back up at Yeon with a confident smirk playing on his lips, completely unbothered by the utter destruction of his workspace.

He tilted his head slightly, his deep voice dripping with mockery as he said, "What might could he have... do you think he’s stronger than me?"

He exhaled, the suffocating aura slowly receding back into his body but leaving the heavy tension in the room completely intact.

"He only has two choices, either come back like a lost puppy or die." he said.

Teon, there was no middle ground; any asset that could not be fully controlled by his hand was a threat that had to be permanently neutralized.

Yeon’s eyes opened wide in total shock, and he opened his mouth, desperately wanting to urge more caution, when Teon instantly shut him up with a sharp, freezing glare.

Teon raised a single finger, his voice dropping to a harsh, final tone as he said, "Not another word from you, I’ve had enough disappointment for today."

Yeon clenched his fists tightly by his sides, his nails digging into his palms as a wave of humiliation washed over him once again.

He wanted to argue, to scream, and to defend his position, but under the heavy weight of his father’s S-rank presence, he knew that any further speaking would only invite trouble.

He lowered his gaze to the pile of gray powder on the floor, nodding reluctantly in submission.

Teon chuckled at his son’s obedience, the low sound echoing through the ruined office as he turned his back on Yeon.

He walked toward the massive glass window overlooking the sprawling city, his eyes reflecting the bright lights of the metropolis below. He said, "Now watch me... and learn how a real master operates."

The next day...

Leon was walking quietly on the busy streets of the city with a thick brown hoodie pulled low over his face.

He kept his head down, blending perfectly into the crowd of ordinary citizens as he navigated the crowded sidewalks.

A massive holographic screen suddenly blinked open in front of a tall corporate building just a few meters away from him.

The blue light of the digital projection cut through the afternoon air, instantly catching the attention of those in the surroundings.

People on the sidewalk began to stop in their tracks, murmuring in confusion as the regular advertisements were abruptly cut off to make way for an emergency broadcast.

Similar holographic screens blinked on all the towering buildings around him within a matter of seconds, creating a massive, synchronized wall of glowing light that completely dominated the streetscape.

All the screens were showing the exact thing—the image of a stern-looking man with short black hair and pitch-black eyes.

Leon’s eyes widened in shock beneath his hood, his heart skipping a beat.

His jaw dropped slightly, and his voice trembled as he muttered, "What... father?"
