Chapter 58: He’s by all means... son[Fixed]
Yeon clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles turned completely white, and his veins bulged prominently along his forearms.
The sheer humiliation and rage boiling inside him made his entire body tremble. He raised his arm high into the air, intending to bring his fist crashing down onto the wooden desk in front of him to release his anger.
However, his fist froze in mid-air just inches before it hit the surface. The sudden realization of whose presence he was actually in poured over him like a bucket of freezing water, instantly halting his hland.
He pulled his fist back slowly, clearing his throat and coughing awkwardly to cover up his sudden loss of composure in front of the room’s other occupant.
Sitting directly behind the large desk was a man with short, neat black hair and pitch-black eyes that seemed to absorb the light around them.
His face was weathered and sharp, with a thick, rough beard framing his jawline perfectly. The coarse facial hair added an incredibly stern and commanding look to his already intense facial features, making him appear as though he were carved from solid stone.
He slowly glanced up from the papers on his desk and locked his dark eyes onto Yeon, his expression completely unbothered by the dramatic display.
"What are you doing, trying to break my table?" he said.
Yeon coughed awkwardly once again, his posture instantly shrinking as he lowered his head respectfully. The hot anger that had filled him just a second ago vanished, replaced by a nervous sweat.
He forced a strained, polite smile onto his face, saying, "No dad... of course not."
The man seated calmly behind the desk was none other than Teon Allistar, an legendary S-rank player and the absolute guildmaster of the Roaring Lions guild.
He was the undisputed patriarch of the Allistar family, a living weapon whose name alone was enough to make entire enemy guilds tremble in fear.
The passive, heavy aura he naturally gave off was quite scary even to Yeon, who was a powerful high-ranking player himself.
There was no active skill being used, yet the raw pressure leaking from Teon’s body filled the entire office, making the air feel incredibly thick, suffocating, and hard to breathe.
Teon was only sitting down in his leather chair, but to Yeon, it felt like he was standing before a huge, ancient mountain that could come crashing down on him at any moment.
The sheer difference in their baseline stats and mana capacity created an invisible barrier of absolute authority that made Yeon feel incredibly small and weak in comparison.
Yeon secretly gnashed his teeth in silent frustration, a deep sense of envy mixing with his fear as he stared at his father.
He looked at the effortless majesty of the older man and thought in desperation, ’S-rank... when will I actually reach that level?’
He had been pushing his limits and climbing the ranks, yet the massive gap between B-rank and S-rank still felt like an uncrossable ocean.
Teon suddenly chuckled, the low, rumbling sound vibrating through the spacious room and breaking the tense, suffocating silence.
He raised a thick, scarred finger, pointing it directly at the television screen where the bloody footage of Leon’s victory was still playing on a loop.
A wide smile spread across his stern face, his black eyes crinkling with amusement as he said, "This is great news... really great news!"
Yeon was confused by what he had just heard, his mind struggling to process his father’s words.
He slowly looked back at the large television screen, staring at the graphic video once more to see whether he was the one seeing the wrong thing.
He squinted at the footage, but the screen still clearly showed the bloody, severed pieces of two B-rank players in a pool of their own blood.
’Great news... in what world is this meant to be great news?!’ he thought.
To Yeon, this entire situation was a massive, humiliating disaster that stained the proud reputation of the Roaring Lions, yet his father was sitting there smiling as if they had just won a grand tournament.
He turned his head back to look at Teon, his eyes wide with a mixture of disbelief and utter confusion.
He gestured weakly toward the screen, his voice shaking slightly as he said, "What do you mean by that, dad? This... all of this... is terrible!"
Teon clicked his tongue in clear disappointment at his son’s narrow-minded reaction, shaking his head slowly as if he were dealing with a slow-witted child.
The S-rank leaned forward, his pitch-black eyes locking onto Yeon with a terrifying intensity as he said, "How is it terrible... Leon, my own son, is showing his mighty power to the world. How is that meant to be terrible, Yeon?"
Yeon was shocked by what he had just heard, his breath catching in his throat as his father’s words echoed in his ears.
’His own son? So now he remembers Leon is actually a son of this family?!’ he thought.
For years, the family had treated the boy like an invisible plague, completely ignoring his existence and treating him like a useless stain on their lineage.
Yet, the moment the boy displayed an overwhelming amount of power, Teon was suddenly eager to claim him as his own blood.
He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at this sheer level of shameless hypocrisy.
Yeon exhaled trying to calm his racing heart as he prepared to point out the obvious flaw in his father’s sudden change of heart.
He looked at Teon’s stern, bearded face and said, "But then... you disowned him, remember? So he’s not your son anymore."
Teon suddenly hit his fist on the table, the explosive impact echoing through the spacious office like a sudden clap of thunder.
The S-rank powerhouse somehow didn’t leave a crack on the desk, but the raw display of authority was more than enough to silence any further objections.
"Wrong, Yeon! He has the same black hair as me, he carries my blood flowing through his veins, he’s by all means... my son!" he said.
