Chapter 57: Same Goal
Leon leaned his back against the cold, damp brick wall of the dark alleyway.
He closed his eyes and let out a heavy, frustrated sigh, a wave of deep embarrassment washing over his face.
Standing there in the middle of the blood-stained road, with the broken corpses of B-rank players at his feet and power humming through his body, the sudden surge of adrenaline had taken complete control of his mind.
The dramatic words had slipped right past his lips before he even had a chance to stop them. He couldn’t help but cringe at how theatrical he must have sounded to the surviving players.
But beneath that surface-level embarrassment, there was a far deeper and darker motive driving his actions. He had also desperately wanted to pass a clear, undeniable message to his father.
The bitter memory of everything he had been forced to endure back home still burned hot in his chest.
He thought of how much he had been looked down on by his own bloodline, how he was constantly treated like a useless object of disappointment, and how they had eventually discarded him.
All of that buried pain, anger, and humiliation had heavily influenced his choice of words. He wanted his father to see the footage, to watch the terror he had caused, and to realize what a massive mistake they had made.
’I didn’t think I would reveal my strength this early, but then, I guess it’s expected.’ he thought.
He had originally hoped to keep a low profile for a while longer. He wanted to quietly master his newly acquired legendary items in the shadows before the major guilds could notice him.
However, his secret had already been compromised from the very moment he chose to jump into the dungeon gate in front of those players.
By making such a reckless move, he had already effectively revealed his extraordinary existence to the entire world.
A supposedly powerless ’failure’ of a player diving headfirst into a C-rank, highly monitored gate was a headline that was bound to spread like wildfire.
There was absolutely no way to play off such a feat as a fluke, and it had completely shattered any chance of him living a quiet, undercover life.
He also quickly accepted the fact that he couldn’t play the role of an undercover, hidden powerhouse for very long anyway.
To fuel his rapid growth and unlock the sealed abilities of his items, he still needed to actively hunt monsters.
’Now... the next thing to do is to take down Roaring Lions, and teach those bastards a lesson.’ he thought with a cold smirk.
Even now, despite the massive influx of god-like legendary items and the overwhelming strength he now possessed, his goal had not changed in the slightest.
His primary drive was still to make his family pay dearly for how they had thrown him out like a dog.
He wanted to tear down their pride, dismantle their high-standing status, and force them to look up at him in terror.
He would show them no mercy and no forgiveness, ensuring they suffered the exact same humiliation they had once forced upon him.
Leon exhaled, staring out into the dark alleyway.
The only bad thing about his current situation was that he would probably be declared wanted after the stunt he had just pulled on the open road.
Apart from illegally jumping into a restricted dungeon gate without permission, he had also killed two notable B-rank players.
Larry and Varis were not low-level nobodies; they were high-ranking assets of a prominent guild. Their sudden deaths would send shockwaves through the player community, and the guilds would have no choice but to brand Leon as a highly dangerous threat to public safety.
If one counted his other crimes, such as the mysterious death of Orat and his entire party members inside the previous dungeon, then it was clear he was now a hardened criminal in the eyes of the law.
On paper, he was a cold-blooded killer who had left a trail of bodies in his wake. To the media, the public, and the justice system, he would be painted as an unstable villain who needed to be locked away or put down permanently.
’Who cares about that though, tsk.’ he thought, clicking his tongue.
The laws of world felt incredibly distant and meaningless to him now, especially since he possessed the raw power to shatter those very laws with his own two hands.
If it was in the past, his mind might have been bothered since he had killed quite a number of people in such a short amount of time.
The old Leon, the weak academy student who had been raised to respect the rules of society, would have been consumed by immense guilt and fear over taking human lives.
He didn’t care much about upholding any law anymore, though. His perspective on right and wrong had been completely shattered by the harsh reality of his life.
He had learned the hard way that the law was nothing more than a tool used by the strong to control the weak, and it offered absolutely no protection to those who were sitting at the very bottom of the food chain.
His father throwing him out of the household like garbage and Ran oppressing him as much as he did at the academy were all technically against the law also, but then, no one did anything about it.
The system had simply turned a blind eye to his suffering because his abusers possessed status and power.
The world simply mocked him instead of helping. Although he was the one who was abused and abandoned by his own flesh and blood, he was the one branded as the loser for bringing a shameful stain on the Roaring Lion’s proud legacy.
He was treated like the criminal just for being weak, while his tormentors were celebrated as heroes. The hypocrisy of it all made him completely lose all respect for society’s rules.
Leon chuckled quietly to himself in the shadows of the alley, his eyes burning with a cold resolve. He clenched his fists, feeling the immense power of his legendary items pulsing through his veins.
’As long as I have enough strength, nothing would be able to stop me... I can literally do whatever I want.’ he thought.
Leon slowly stretched his right hand out into the empty air, and Excalibur appeared in his grasp, still in phantom mode.
He gripped the handle of the holy blade firmly, feeling the incredible destructive potential sealed within its dormant form.
He stared at the empty air in front of him, his voice dropping to a low, chilling whisper as he muttered, "Anything I want."
He then chuckled softly, the dark amusement echoing quietly against the brick walls, before returning the sword back to his system inventory.
The heavy presence vanished from his hand as quickly as it had appeared, leaving the alley quiet and still once more.

Meanwhile, inside the luxurious headquarters of the Roaring Lions guild, the atmosphere was thick with an unbearable tension.
Yeon was pacing up and down the office, a deep, angry frown was etched onto his face, that his brows formed a heavy crease on his forehead.
He suddenly paused his frantic pacing, turning his attention back to the large television hung securely on the wall in the spacious office.
Yeon’s eyes locked onto the screen with a mixture of disbelief and growing rage, unable to tear his gaze away from the unbelievable footage that had just been posted online.
Displaying on that television was a recording of Leon standing calm in front of the sliced pieces of Varis’ body.
The sight of the powerful B-rank former instructor, who had been transformed into a towering demonic beast, now reduced to a pile of neatly severed, bleeding chunks of flesh on the open road was absolutely mind-boggling.
Leon’s fists were clenched tightly, but just like the last video from the dungeon gate, there was absolutely no visible weapon in his hands.
The only thing surrounding his hands was a faint, mysterious smoke that drifted lazily off his knuckles before disappearing into the air.
The video itself was rough and shaky, vibrating violently as the hidden camera on the player’s collar recorded the chaotic events.
The fear in the one record I f was captured in every frame, but despite the poor quality, even a child could tell the horrifying thing that had just happened on that road.
It was an absolute, one-sided slaughter of two B-rank players, executed by a single young man who looked similar to him.
The camera briefly panned across the wider battlefield, revealing the sheer scale of the carnage Leon had left behind.
Meters behind Varis’s ruined body was the cold corpse of Larry and three other high-level players, all of them riddled with clean, hollow holes that passed straight through their armor and flesh.
Leon then turned his head directly to the one recording the video, his dark, piercing eyes seeming to stare straight through the camera lens and directly at whoever was watching the footage.
A chilling smirk appeared on his face as he delivered his final, arrogant message to the world, saying, "Get that video out there. Let the world know that Leon Allistar is back."
