Chapter 53: Riddled with holes

The broken armor pieces scattered all across the cracked ground suddenly began to tremble violently. The shattered shards of dark metal vibrated against the asphalt, emitting a sharp, scraping sound as a powerful force gripped them.

Before anyone could understand what was happening, the pieces rapidly enlarged in size, swelling outward until they were about twice bigger than they had been before.

The sudden expansion turned the small fragments into large, jagged sheets of heavy steel.

A large number of these enlarged metal pieces were suddenly pulled directly toward Larry, flying through the air in a dense, metallic cloud.

They slammed against his torso, limbs, and shoulders, sticking and molding perfectly onto his body like iron drawn to a powerful magnet.

Within seconds, the shattered defense he had lost was entirely replaced by a new, much thicker layer of armor that wrapped around him tightly.

Another portion of the giant metal shards flew rapidly across the clearing toward Varis, who was still roaring in his Demonic Yak Form.

The metal pieces wrapped tightly around his massive hands, sticking unto his fists and instantly molding together to form a pair of thick metal gauntlets.

The improvised weapons gleamed with a cold, heavy sheen, adding an immense amount of weight and destructive power to his already devastating punches.

Larry chuckled loudly, the sound echoing confidently from behind his newly formed metallic defense.

He glared at the young hunter, his voice filled with a malicious triumph as he shouted, "You’re dead, Leon! Let’s see how you’ll escape this!"

He truly believed that with Varis’s current immortality and his own reinforced armor, they had created an inescapable trap that no level seven novice could ever survive.

The name of his talent was Magnetism, a powerful, high-tier A-rank talent that allowed him to completely control metals like a magnet, pulling, shaping, and manipulating any metallic object within his range at will.

He also had a fortunate encounter in the past during a dangerous raid, where he had managed to gain an A-rank skill called Enlarge.

This rare ability allowed him to double the size of absolutely anything he wanted, whether it was a weapon, a piece of debris, or his own broken equipment.

By combining his Magnetism talent with the Enlarge skill, he could instantly turn worthless battlefield scrap metal into giant, lethal weapons or heavy defenses.

Though he was currently graded as a B-rank player due to his overall level, his unique combination of high-tier abilities meant he actually possessed a genuine A-rank potential!

This immense room for growth and high combat flexibility made him a highly valuable asset to the Cross Stack guild, which was why he had been entrusted with leading such an important ambush operation.

There were still a few more pieces of metal left on the battlefield, all of which floated neatly off the ground under the influence of Larry’s telekinetic grip.

The remaining shards quickly merged with one another in mid-air, the steel melting and reshaping themselves until they changed into ten, thin sharp spikes.

The spikes hovered in a tight formation, their tips pointing directly at Leon’s vital spots like a row of loaded ballistas.

Varis charged forward with an explosion of speed, the ground groaning under the immense weight of his immortal Demonic Yak Form.

He roared angrily, the deafening sound wave tearing through the clearing as he swung his newly formed metal gauntlets back, completely intent on crushing Leon beneath his unstoppable momentum.

As he charged blindly ahead to draw all of Leon’s attention, Larry threw his hand forward, releasing his grip on the floating weapons.

The ten enlarged metal spikes shot towards Leon also, cutting through the air like a volley of deadly arrows from the opposite direction, perfectly synchronized with Varis’s heavy frontal assault to ensure there was absolutely no room left for the player to dodge.

Leon, however, was only frustrated at this desperate coordination. The flashy combination of a giant demonic berserker and an array of flying metal spikes didn’t impress him in the slightest. Instead, a look of deep irritation settled onto his face as he watched the attacks close in.

’I’ve let this go on for far too long, it’s time to end this bullshit.’ he thought, clicking his tongue in annoyance.

He calmly stretched his fist out towards the ten incoming spikes, his posture completely steady as the sharp metal tips tore through the air toward him.

The moment his hand moved, the brilliant green shield of Aegis instantly popped out in front of him.

The ten enlarged metal spikes struck the shield with immense force, but they didn’t leave a single scratch on the vibrant green surface.

Instead of piercing through, the spikes were instantly rejected by the barrier’s absolute counter-mechanic.

They immediately turned around in mid-air, reversing their trajectory and shooting straight back towards the one who sent them with ten times more speed than before.

The returned spikes moved even faster than bullets, cutting through the air with a terrifying, high-pitched screech.

The speed was so absolutely overwhelming that it bypassed the physical limitations of the human eye.

Before Larry could even blink or realize that his own attack had been redirected, the ten sharp projectiles had already shot cleanly through different parts of his body, searing out from behind him in a horrific flash of violence.

The reinforced metal armor he had just bragged about offered absolutely no protection against his own amplified power.

Deep, hollow holes were left on him, completely puncturing his body from front to back.

There were two clean holes drilled directly through his head, destroying his helmet, and five more scattered unevenly around his torso, ripping through his chest and abdomen.

The precision of the counter-attack was entirely brutal. If one looked closely at Larry’s standing figure, they would be able to see exactly what was behind him through the hollow holes on his body.

The sky, and the road at his back were completely visible through the empty spaces where his flesh and armor used to be.

He wasn’t the only one riddled with holes from the devastating redirection, though.

The amplified spikes carried so much leftover piercing momentum that they didn’t stop after passing through Larry’s body.

Three other players, who had been standing directly behind him in the ambush formation, were now riddled with holes also.
