Chapter 49: Where is this strength coming from?!

Varis gnashed his teeth in rage, his face contorting with anger as he stared at the young player who was looking down on them so casually.

’So fucking arrogant.’ he thought, barely able to contain the irritation burning in his chest. It felt even worse that he was being insulted by a former academy student, who was just standing there treating them like minor inconveniences.

In Varis’s mind, Leon might be strong now, but that didn’t mean he was strong enough to take on two B-rank players on his own.

Gaining three levels in a dungeon was impressive, sure, but B-rank was a completely different threshold of power that required years of brutal combat and refinement to achieve.

Leon was still just a novice who had stumbled into a bit of good fortune, and Varis refused to believe that a single solo dungeon run could bridge the massive gap between them.

Furthermore, Varis wasn’t alone. Combined together, he and Larry formed a devastating duo that could give problems even to a genuine A-rank player!

They had fought side by side in quite a few dungeons, syncing their abilities to take down monstrous threats that would terrify ordinary guilds.

If the two of them went all out, there was absolutely no way a freshly leveled rookie like Leon could survive their coordinated onslaught.

Varis glared down at Leon, his voice dropping into a low, menacing growl as he said, "You’re too spoilt now, you need to learn some lesson."

The moment the words left his mouth, Varis activated his talent.

A violent surge of magical energy exploded from his body, causing the air around him to warp and vibrate.

His body immediately grew two times larger, his muscles expanding and tearing through the constraints of his standard frame until he reached a staggering four meters in height.

He towered over the entire clearing like a massive monument of destruction, casting a giant shadow directly over Leon.

The transformation didn’t stop at his size. Thick, coarse red furs began sprouting rapidly along his bare arms and shoulders, covering his bulging muscles in a dense, beastly coat.

His facial features twisted aggressively as his eyes enlarged, the irises losing their human quality and taking on a glowing, bright red color that burned with feral bloodlust.

To complete the monstrous change, two thick, curved black horns grew rapidly at the sides of his head, tearing outward and pointing forward like deadly lances.

The sheer weight and density of his newly transformed body became too much for the environment to bear, and the stone floor beneath his feet cracked loudly, spiderweb fractures spreading across the dirt from his heels.

[B-rank Talent: Demonic Yak]!

Varis could feel a massive, intoxicating amount of raw power pumping through his veins from his transformation.

The beastly adrenaline surged through his heart, completely wiping away any lingering doubts or hesitation he had felt earlier.

Feeling completely invincible in his giant form, he threw his head back and roared loudly to the sky, the sound waves vibrating so violently that several players had to cover their ears.

He looked back down at Leon, his voice now sounding like a rumbling earthquake as he shouted, "Let’s see how long you can keep up that arrogance of yours, boy!"

Without waiting another second, Varis suddenly charged forward. The sheer explosive force of his takeoff was so immense that it left a deep, shattered crater on the floor exactly where his heavy feet had just been standing.

He transformed into a blurry streak of red fur and polished armor, dashing towards Leon like a bullet.

Varis closed in on Leon within a second, his massive four-meter frame covering the distance instantly. The sheer speed of his movement kicked up a harsh gust of wind that blew through the clearing.

He brought his arm back and swung his gigantic fist directly at Leon’s face, putting all his weight behind the blow.

The fist was larger than Leon’s entire upper body, rushing forward with enough destructive power to easily shatter concrete.

Leon simply raised his hand up, his movement appearing completely effortless and casual. He didn’t even shift his stance as he caught the incoming punch right before it could hit him.

The collision didn’t create a shockwave that pushed Leon back; instead, the massive, roaring momentum of the four-meter beast came to a dead stop the moment it met Leon’s palm.

Varis’ eyes widened in complete and utter shock. He stopped breathing for a second as he stared down at his own huge fist, which was simply being stopped by Leon’s much smaller hand.

It looked completely ridiculous, like a giant boulder being frozen in mid-air by a single twig, yet Leon’s arm didn’t tremble even a little bit under the immense weight.

Refusing to believe what he was seeing, Varis gritted his teeth and tried pushing forward with all his might. He channeled every ounce of his beastly strength into his arm, attempting to crush Leon into the dirt beneath his weight.

However, he quickly realized that he couldn’t move his hand at all. No matter how much he strained his massive muscles or how hard he pushed, his fist was completely frozen, acting almost like it had been locked cleanly by Leon’s unbreakable grip.

He felt a sudden, terrifying wave of panic wash over his mind, and he thought in pure disbelief, What? Where is this strength coming from?!’

He was a B-rank player using a transformation talent, yet he was being completely overpowered in raw strength by someone who was supposed to be a level seven novice.

He frantically glanced down at Leon’s face, searching for any sign of struggle or exhaustion on the younger man.

But the latter simply smirked back at him, his dark eyes brimming with a calm, mocking amusement that made Varis’ blood run completely cold.

Leon didn’t look burdened at all; he looked like he was barely putting any effort into holding back a monster.

Before Varis could even try to pull his trapped hand away, Leon’s other fist moved in a sudden blur.

The speed of the counterattack was so incredibly fast that Varis couldn’t even follow it with his enlarged eyes. One moment Leon’s arm was at his side, and the next, a devastating force slammed directly into Varis’s armored chest.
