Chapter 286: All That’s Been Lost

He asked, to which the Concept of Life could do nothing but remain silent.

The answer to the question was obvious.

"At least all that a man who was made into a horse has to worry about is the hot desert sand and his aching back."

"What do you have to worry about, White?"

"You’ve always had more power and all of the good that came with power. The fame, the recognition, the praise. Everyone regarded you as a genius, a treasure worth possessing at all costs."

"You’ve never really had to worry about anything but keeping yourself alive, have you?"

She retorted, and White paused for a while before chuckling quietly.

"What do I have to worry about? Oh, not much really. Just me losing everything that cared about me and everything that I’ve ever cared about."

"The first thing I cared about in this world were my parents. I lost them both to some shitty drunk dude who’s now serving life imprisonment in a federal prison."

"The second people were my battle squad. They cared for me, they fought for me until their last breath, and I lost them to Draugr, who was a Supernatural."

"The third was Lorienette. We were both so close to finding a peaceful world of our own, just for her to turn against me."

"But... I could tell myself all day long that Lorienette was a bitch that betrayed me, but to be fair... she was never like that. The change happened after she was turned into a Supernatural."

"In my first life, out of the three things I loved the most, the Supernaturals took two of them."

"But then you came."

White said, turning to her.

"You gave me a divine chance. Reviving me from death and taking me back ten years into the past, a chance to correct the mistakes I’d made in my past life."

"I got rid of Draugr before he could hurt my battle squad and even got myself someone that adored me so much they would remain loyal even after being told that I was already dead."

"It was a happy second life, wasn’t it?"

"It was..."

She retorted.

"You’re wrong."

White replied, his tone taking on a darker growl.

"My second life was my most evil life. I slaughtered a young man who had no idea what he ever did, and I didn’t end there. I slaughtered every last one of his friends in cold blood too."

"I could tell myself all of that was in the name of a brighter future, but I know deep in my heart... that action made me a murderer."

"I could also tell myself that Novealia Limitless was the evil person. She was the one who couldn’t accept me for who I am but... who am I?"

"I went from being an ordinary human boy to suddenly dying for six months, then coming back as a dark-skinned monster with two horns."

"And even after all of that change, she accepted me still."

"I should have stopped there. But guess what... I decided to become a four-horned monster and crushed the heads of two Newcomers like her with a wide grin on my face."

"What did a twenty-year-old girl ever do to deserve such change monstrous changes in a person? Even the werewolf who killed her parents couldn’t have done so with that grin that I had."

"So really, what have I ever had to lose? My life was perfect, wasn’t it?"

White mocked with a scoff.

Turning his back, his hands reached for space and grabbed it tightly but then paused.

"If all the Supernaturals had done was simply take a part of Earth and turn it into their own after being forcefully teleported here by the Apexial Doom Rift, perhaps they would have been worthy of the mercy of simply being sent back. But... you and I both know they did more than that."

"They wanted full colonization of a world that didn’t belong to them. They reveled in drinking the blood of us Humans and eating our skin and flesh."

"Their greed will be their undoing, and nothing can save them."

"Not even you."

He said, giving a side glance to the Concept.

"As for the Concept of Death growing stronger from their deaths, I’m not the type to leave the greater evil alone and only deal with the minor one."

"I will give the Emissary of Death the most energy he could absorb and then crumble him to dust even with all of that power."

"The Apexial Doom Rift shall never be opened anymore after this."

"You Concepts think yourselves above lives, seeing each and every soul as inconsequential. Only the big picture matters, right?"

"The Concept of Death grows stronger by ending lives and spreading destruction as much as he can."

"And all that can be done to him is simply weaken him, right? The only punishment he receives is simply by destroying the Emissaries he’s chosen."

"He himself... oh, he’s beyond any punishment at all? Just a ’Welp, I’ll try again next time.’"

White said, chuckling darkly.

In the next moment,

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP!

The heavy sound of space being ripped apart echoed as four of White’s six arms pulled the Void apart, ripping open space itself, while powerful runes flashed around the world in an attempt to prevent him from leaving a Concept’s personal realm.

But all of that power was nothing to White, whose arms didn’t even strain at all.

He turned to the Concept of Life and Souls and spoke one last sentence that echoed like a decree throughout the realm.

"I WILL BRING FEAR UPON THE EVIL IN THIS UNIVERSE... EVEN TO YOU CONCEPTS."

___________

Earth had changed... noticeably.

In White’s past life, he had lived ten years into the future, but while he had only seemed to spend six years in the Umbrawyric World, the truth was that time moved very differently there.

What was supposed to be just six years of leaving had easily become twenty years already on Earth.

Yes, it had already been twenty years since White had left Earth the last time, and right now as he stood within its skies,

CRAACK!
