Chapter 284: Meeting With the Concept of Life and Souls Once More (I)

"And it’s been quite the change on you, White Sinclaw. An UnoUmbrawyr, I see."

She spoke.

"How do you find the souls of UnoUmbrawyrs, by the way? Does the darkness they’ve evolved into make them... shine even more?"

White asked with a quiet chuckle, repeating the exact words she had used on him before.

[A/N: That was at Chapter 214, Beauty of Souls]

"The UnoUmbrawyrs are beings that have evolved to the highest state of Darkness Corruption, but... even the most corrupt are not beyond salvation."

She replied, calm as ever.

"What’s the reason for the impromptu summoning? Finally decided to return my original soul back to me?"

"You know what I summoned you for, White Sinclaw."

She replied.

"If it’s what I think it is, then don’t even bother convincing me otherwise."

"The Supernaturals are not the enemy."

"I will not fall into a trap of moral argument with you."

White shot back.

"Destroying the Supernaturals will only help one being: The Emissary of Death. With your intelligence, you should know that’s what he wanted, and why the Emissary of Death left you alive."

She said, referencing to the moment he had met with the Emissary of Death.

"You know who else wiping out Supernaturals would help?"

He asked.

"None."

She responded.

"NO!"

"The billions of human lives lost during the Cold First War. Those hopeless men and women slaughtered in the House of God, devoured alive in the very place they held most sacred."

"The hundreds of thousands who die each year to supernatural swarms. There could be a city under attack by one right now, its civilians being devoured as we speak."

"To the Supernaturals, human lives are nothing more than a game, and yet you claim they aren’t the enemy."

Silence permeated the space, clearing the lingering fury, before her calm voice returned.

"The Supernaturals have indeed committed heinous crimes. That is truth. But they never descended upon this world by choice."

"They were forced in by the Apexial Doom Rift opened by the Concept of Death."

"He is the true enemy, and killing the Supernaturals would enhance his power, up to a level that might just give him enough power to open another Apexial Doom Rift to another world and bring in an even stronger enemy to humanity."

She continued.

"White, the Supernaturals deserve hell. But all that would do is bring a bigger hell upon the rest of humanity as is."

"Think about it... their destruction is not worth it."

She said, and White fell silent.

She continued.

"The best thing to do is find the Emissary of Darkness, copy his soul, and re-open the Apexial Doom Rift."

"Humanity may not get its revenge, but... it will be finally saved. Something I know will be the wish of those humans that have been lost to their heinous deeds."

"Humanity doesn’t need revenge, White. It needs saving, and protection from further harm."

The silence that followed was a long one, one that lasted for what felt like hours, with White simply staring at her.

"You’re not saying anything."

"I... I just have a question."

"I’m all ears."

"You once said, to quote your exact words: ’Humanity are creatures of Hope. And they hope that I might be what they’ve been looking for to put a stop to the war, something that I am indeed capable of as your Emissary.’"

_____

"Correct."

She replied.

"What if I never existed?"

White asked, and time seemed to stand still.

"Would you have simply chosen someone else as your Emissary? Or would humanity have been doomed to extinction?"

He asked.

"I..."

"Also, I have another question."

He said before she could answer the first.

"Go on."

She replied, not at all offended.

"The Emissary of Darkness. The Man in White. I’ve noticed that... he’s not a human being."

He said.

"To be exact, he’s an Omnir. A race that is now extinct, and he might as well be the last one alive."

"That makes me very sure that the Emissary of Darkness who opened the Apexial Doom Rift definitely cannot be a human either, and all of that makes me wonder."

"Is Earth the only world that has suffered the fate of having the Apexial Doom Rift opened? If no, then how many of these worlds have survived extinction?"

"You said it’s your responsibility as a Concept of Life and Souls to keep the Concept of Death and Destruction in check, and that brings the question."

"If I never had a special soul that drew your attention and made you decide to have me as your Emissary, and automatically made you interested in the situation of Earth..."

"Wouldn’t Earth have been doomed to extinction just like the hundreds of worlds out there that are suffering the same invasion of the Apexial Doom Rift?"

"Wouldn’t that mean that there would be no hope at all for humanity, and in the nearest future in the universe, humanity as a race would cease to exist?"

This time, she remained silent, and it was a long silence that lasted close to ten minutes before she replied.

"You’re not ready for the answers you want."

"Hahahahaha!"

A loud laughter echoed through the entire void as White burst out laughing.

Of course, he wasn’t ready for the answer.

But all at once, his laughter stopped.

"I’m giving you a chance to convince me from absolutely massacring the entirety of a race. I don’t think your answer of ’you’re not ready for answers’ is somehow the most convincing reason, is it?"

The question made a gleam of astral light cross through her eyes, and finally she replied.

"Your second question answers the first."

"The Apexial Doom Rift was opened more than once, not just on Earth alone, and yes, some of those worlds were indeed unfortunate, and are undergoing extinction as we speak."

"As for what would have happened to Earth if you never existed and hence never caught my attention..."
