Chapter 537: Chapter 537: Can You Stop Treating Me Like an Idiot?

Seeing the confusion on Evelyn’s face, Caden Lockwood moved closer, wanting to hold her hand, but she pulled away preemptively.

Her delicate face was full of anger. Just thinking about how Caden had forced himself on her again made Evelyn not want to see him at all.

Caden, feeling helpless, could only withdraw his hand with frustration, hiding it behind his back, and spoke softly, "Let’s find a place to talk properly."

"Afraid of losing face?" Evelyn felt like she was completely provoking him, "If you’re afraid of losing face, then don’t follow me! I’m really sorry, my voice is naturally loud, making Mr. Lockwood lose face. I’m truly sorry."

After saying that, Evelyn turned to leave again.

As soon as she took a step, her wrist was grabbed.

Immediately, she leaned forward, her entire body enveloped by Caden’s broad chest.

His arms tightened, holding Evelyn firmly in his embrace, as if to engrave her into his body, never allowing her to slip away.

Feeling Caden’s warmth and hearing his heartbeat, Evelyn pushed against him, but not with force.

His heartbeat wasn’t as strong and powerful as it used to be; instead, it was slow and gentle, making one wonder what was wrong with him right now.

The hatred and anger in her heart were replaced by worry, and Evelyn hated herself for having no boundaries at all in front of Caden.

"Let go of me!" Evelyn shouted angrily, "In the middle of the street, don’t you care about your reputation as Mr. Lockwood?"

"You are my wife." Caden repeated this sentence, then emphasized, "You are my wife!"

"Wife?" Evelyn sneered.

Pushing Caden away, she looked at him, trying to feign an appearance of not being sad at all.

"Mr. Lockwood, don’t you think saying that is very..."

"Yvonne Rhodes is indeed dead." Caden interrupted Evelyn.

Evelyn became even angrier, glaring at Caden, shouting, "So, did I see a ghost? And the one talking to me was also a ghost? On the company rooftop, were you talking to a ghost too?"

Caden furrowed his brow, listening to Evelyn’s angry questions, and couldn’t help but ask, "You went to the company?"

"Ha!" Evelyn let out a cold snort, "Now you’re pretending to be clueless? Mr. Lockwood, I know you’re very smart, but could you stop treating me like a fool?"

"I’ll look into this when I get back." Caden said in a deep voice, "But Yvonne Rhodes is indeed dead. If you saw her, then you saw her twin sister, Jessica Rhodes."

"Twin... sister?" Evelyn stuttered a bit.

"The two of them look almost identical," Caden explained, "Also, Jessica should be one of L’s people. Did she... say anything to you?"

Listening to Caden’s probing tone, Evelyn still looked displeased.

Her mind simply didn’t have the brain cells to think about the questions he was asking.

"No matter what she said, don’t believe it." Caden continued, "Evelyn, come home with me first, and I’ll explain everything to you slowly."

Evelyn looked at Caden, opened her mouth, but couldn’t say a word.

Whether Yvonne’s issue was a frame-up or something else, Evelyn didn’t want to care about it anymore.

All she knew was that this time she ran away, even purposely provoking Caden, all because of Cecilia Lynch.

Now, she had already made Caden angry halfway, and as long as she tried a bit harder, with his personality, he certainly wouldn’t entangle with her any longer.

By then, once she divorced Caden, Cecilia Lynch and Julian Keaton could have their happy ending.
