Chapter 538: Chapter 538: I Don’t Love You, Not at All!
Thinking of this, Evelyn’s gaze grew even dimmer.
"Let’s go home." Caden continued, "I can explain many things."
A few short words, yet Evelyn heard the weariness in Caden’s voice.
"No need." Evelyn shook her head gently, "You go back! I will naturally return when school is about to start. I hope by then, you will have thought it through... and be willing to divorce me."
Listening to Evelyn’s words, the veins on Caden’s forehead twitched, and his hands unconsciously clenched into fists, tightening with a "grrr" sound.
"Evelyn." Caden’s voice squeezed out through clenched teeth, "Am I so insignificant in your heart?"
Evelyn lowered her gaze, unsure how to refute Caden’s words.
"You think I really know nothing?" Caden’s tone carried a hint of sadness.
Evelyn frowned, unsure of the meaning behind Caden’s meaningful words.
Caden continued, "During the days you ran away and disappeared, even though I didn’t have much time to investigate what you went through, I could still imagine: someone as kind as you who doesn’t want to hurt anyone, how come when it comes to me, you’re so firm and persistent?"
"..."
"Is it because of Cecilia Lynch?" Caden guessed, "After thinking it over, she’s the only possibility."
"No!" Evelyn hurriedly refuted.
But her rebuttal only made Caden more convinced of his guess.
"The Lockwood Family and The Keaton Family have always been close; if separating you from me would make my dad... pay any cost. He could very well team up with The Keaton Family’s parents to have Cecilia Lynch find you and tell you that if you leave me, she and Julian Keaton can be together." Caden chuckled bitterly, "It’s entirely possible."
"It’s not like you think!" Evelyn’s eyes filled with uncertainty, "It’s my decision not to be with you. Don’t have delusions about guessing unreliable reasons, and especially don’t tarnish Cece!"
"After you disappeared, Cecilia Lynch sincerely told me that if you contacted her, she would immediately inform me." Caden recounted, "You and her are so close; she contacted you when she ran away, but you didn’t reach out to her when you did, which indicates something’s wrong between you two."
As Caden’s guesses became more accurate, Evelyn didn’t know how to respond.
"Do you really plan to leave me for her?" Caden’s tone was deeply hurt.
Standing in place, listening to Caden’s question, Evelyn’s heart felt as if something was fiercely pulling it down, dragging her entire being into an endless darkness.
Averting her gaze, she choked and spoke, "I told you not to guess blindly! I’m not so noble as to sacrifice for someone else’s feelings. I don’t love you, so I want to leave you. You saw the diary, you..."
"The diary wasn’t sent to you by Cecilia Lynch at all!" Caden finally couldn’t help but roar, "Cecilia’s home was burgled, and only your diary filled with love for the big brother was stolen, and when that diary was sent to you, all the contents had been replaced."
Pausing for a moment, Caden continued to speak, "Your friend, is she the kind of person who would make you sacrifice, are you not sure?"
