Chapter 536: Chapter 536: Please, Let Me Go
"I’ve resigned." As Evelyn spoke, she took off the apron she was wearing and tossed it onto the stool.
Anyway, with Caden Lockwood stirring things up like this, her hope of continuing to work was dashed!
Caden furrowed his brow, "You were doing just fine earlier, why resign?"
"Because I saw someone I didn’t want to see." Evelyn’s tone was sharp, "I wish I were blind so I wouldn’t have to see anyone!"
After speaking, she turned and left.
"Boss lady!" Just as Evelyn reached the door, Sean Ashton called out, "Go back with the boss!"
Evelyn let out a cold laugh, paused in her steps, glanced back slightly, and said coldly, "There’s no way I’ll go back with him!"
Then, she pushed open the door and walked out.
Evelyn walked quickly, even though she didn’t know where to go. But she found that no matter where she went, Caden Lockwood was always following her.
When she ran, he ran.
When she walked, he walked.
When she stopped, he stopped.
In short, he was always within five meters of her.
Evelyn felt furious and simply stopped in her tracks, shouting at Caden Lockwood, "Can you stop following me? Wasn’t I clear enough just now? I don’t want to see you!"
Caden also stopped, facing Evelyn, and said softly, "But I want to see you."
Upon hearing Caden’s words, Evelyn was stunned at first, then couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Her smile was full of irony, even sarcasm.
"You want to see me?" The curve of Evelyn’s lips deepened, yet there was no light in her amber eyes.
She shook her head, then spoke softly, "A woman like me, what interest do you have in taking another look? Mr. Lockwood, what kind of woman do you not have? Why do you insist on coming to me just to find unhappiness?"
Caden stood still, saying nothing.
"Maybe you think what you’ve done is easy to forgive, but I’m not that foolish." Evelyn’s voice turned cold, "I can never forgive you! So, please stay away from me and stop interfering in my life!"
Upon hearing Evelyn’s repeated rejections, Caden did not get angry but instead asked, "When do you plan to go home?"
"I have no home." Evelyn continued speaking stubbornly.
"You do!" Caden was persistent and firm, "You are Mrs. Lockwood!"
Upon hearing the words "Mrs. Lockwood," the anger burning in Evelyn’s chest grew even more intense.
"Could you please stop using those three words to restrain me?" Evelyn shouted.
There were plenty of people on the street, and Evelyn and Caden had long become the focus of bystanders.
Everyone was turning to look at them, thinking that watching an attractive couple argue was somehow entertaining.
Evelyn felt a bit embarrassed, her hands unconsciously clenched together. She lowered her voice, then coldly said, "I don’t want to be Mrs. Lockwood anymore, please let me go! Isn’t having Yvonne Rhodes enough for you?"
The thought that Yvonne Rhodes wasn’t dead, yet he lied to her that she was, filled Evelyn with rage.
Especially, the heart problem that Yvonne mentioned made Evelyn feel even more creeped out.
"Yvonne Rhodes?" Caden frowned.
Suddenly, he realized something and urgently asked, "Have you met... Jessica Rhodes?"
Listening to Caden’s words, Evelyn was at a loss.
She hadn’t even figured out Yvonne Rhodes, how did another Jessica Rhodes come into the picture?
