Chapter 2308: Stopwatch

Seeing that time was being sped up here, I pressed the same button again to see if it would speed up even more.

But in the end, I was disappointed to find that this wasn’t the case.

After pressing that same button again, the only thing that happened was that the numbers on the stopwatch stopped moving.

"One press starts it and a second press stops it." I said to myself with a wry smile.

It was a very intuitive design, but it wasn’t what I wanted.

After all, I was hoping for more free control over time itself.

Still, I stopped myself from feeling this way since I knew that I was being greedy.

It was already good enough that I had created a relic that allowed me to manipulate time, to want to freely control it would have been considered too much.

After figuring out what the first button did, I went to test the other buttons.

It was just that no matter which one of the buttons I pressed, it didn’t seem to do anything. The numbers that were on the stopwatch were still frozen even though I pressed the other buttons.

That was until I pressed a button on the side.

When this button was pressed, it erased the numbers from the stopwatch.

Only after this button was pressed and the numbers were erased did the other buttons do something.

The next button that I pressed made the numbers appear once more, but it was clear that they were much slower than normal time.

Looking at the sprouts on the ground, I knew that this wouldn’t actually show me the effects of the stopwatch. So the only thing that I could do was pull out a ball and drop it from shoulder height.

When I dropped this thing, it slowly fell to the ground showing that time had been slowed down as I had expected.

The rate was the ratio that the numbers on the screen were slower than normal time, but I certainly wasn’t smart enough to calculate that. Which was why I used a general estimate of how much time slowed.

"Judging by how slow it’s falling, it seems to have slowed down by around five times."

This wasn’t the most accurate estimate of this, but it was certainly more than enough for me to use this stopwatch.

After determining that, I pressed the same button again and the ball sped up before landing on the ground.

It seemed like releasing the time slowing effect made the ball fall at normal rate immediately. There wasn’t any delay from when the time slowing effect was released, it was something that just happened instantaneously.

Or if there was a delay, I wasn’t able to see it since it was too fast for me.

As for the third button, it had a special function.

The two buttons that I had pressed were at opposite sides of the stopwatch.

One of them was on the left hand side and the other was on the right hand side, so it was clear that they were opposites of each other.

This third button was right in the center of them.

When I pressed it, it really didn’t feel like anything happened and there weren’t any numbers that appeared on the stopwatch. But I could already guess what effect this button had because of the context clues.

I picked up the ball and dropped it, but this thing didn’t fall at all.

Instead, it just remained floating there in the air as if it was frozen in space.

Though the better way to describe it was that it was frozen in time.

One button had the ability to speed up time and one had the ability to slow down time, so the only thing left was something that could stop time completely.

But I learned that this wasn’t something that could be maintained for long.

Unlike the other abilities that continued for a while, this time stop ability came to an end not long after it was activated. It seemed like this was the only ability that required a large amount of energy and couldn’t be maintained for long.

"I’m sure that the others only last for a certain amount of time, but I just haven’t reached the limit yet."

That was something else that needed to be tested later.

Right now, there is still one more button to be tested.

"Nothing is happening?"

No matter how I tried testing that button, I found that it just didn’t seem to have an effect at all. In fact, it didn’t even seem to be working since it didn’t seem to activate the stopwatch.

In the end, I had no choice but to give up on this button since I couldn’t figure it out.

I knew that it had some kind of effect, but it wasn’t as if I could figure it out just by pressing it randomly like this.

I was certain that it had some kind of effect since it wasn’t as if this button would have been made if it was useless. It was just that I wouldn’t be able to figure it out at this moment.

Instead, I started testing something else.

"Ah, so I’m affected as well if I let go of the stopwatch."

It was a good thing that I didn’t test the time freeze when I did this or else it would have been troublesome. Though it would have ended eventually, it certainly wasn’t something that I wanted to experience.

So by speeding up time and letting go, I was able to figure out the range of the stopwatch.

If I had slowed down time and let go, then it would have taken much longer.

Though there was one thing that I did test while slowing time down.

"If I release enough power, then it actually negates the effects of the stopwatch."

This stopwatch was using divine energy to create this time dilation effect, so resisting it with divine energy only made sense.

A stronger power would negate the weaker power.
