Chapter 2309: Strange crops

With the stopwatch in hand, it really was much easier for me to grow these plants since all I had to do was speed up time.

But there was also a problem since the stopwatch only sped time up by five times.

Just five times the normal flow of time wasn’t actually enough to quickly grow these crops.

The crops were already growing faster than normal crops because they had been imbued with divine energy, but that still wasn’t enough.

"It’s something that runs on divine energy, what if I gave it more?"

That was the thought that came to mind in the end and it turned out that this was the right idea.

After speeding up time with the stopwatch, I held it and injected my own divine energy into it. The moment that I did this, I could feel the stopwatch accepting the divine energy that I was giving it.

At the same time, I could see from the display that time was flowing faster than before.

So it did mean that giving it divine energy really was the way to strengthen it.

"This thing was created with divine energy and it runs on divine energy, so it only makes sense that it would be strengthened with more divine energy. But where does the divine energy that runs it normally come from?"

Though I was the one that created this stopwatch, I could tell that it didn’t actually depend on me for divine energy when I used it normally.

It seemed like it was drawing divine energy from an unknown source with how it ran normally.

This certainly was a mystery that I couldn’t find the answer to.

But right now, there was something else that had to be done first.

With the stopwatch, I was able to speed time up to ten times what it usually was.

Though it was already ten times faster than normal, it wasn’t as if this was the limit. The only limit that I had reached was my own personal limit.

"This thing just drains divine energy..."

I had no choice but to stop providing divine energy to the stopwatch since I knew that I wouldn’t be able to sustain anything greater than this. With the way that it drained me, it was already hard enough to maintain ten times the speed.

I certainly wouldn’t be able to keep going if I sped up time even more than that.

So ten times speed was the limit to what I could do.

If it was a shorter period of time, then I could certainly raise the rate even higher since I didn’t have to worry about maintaining the flow of divine energy. Speeding up time like this was certainly useful in a battle.

This was certainly something that I had to check later.

But right now, all that mattered was watching these plants grow.

"It seems like I won’t be able to see them fully grow by the end of the day."

I had been carefully observing the plants while speeding them up, so I knew that they just weren’t ready yet. But the fact that they had grown to this extent in just a single day was already something that was worth celebrating.

It wasn’t as if I had to rush to finish things in a single day.

Letting this grow a bit longer wasn’t a bad thing either since it would allow me to see just how far the stopwatch could take things. At the same time, it would actually help this place if the plants were to decay.

There was already an environment here that could deal with the decaying plants and would be able to give life back to this dirt.

Only that was something for tomorrow.

...

"What is with these plants?"

I had been doing the same thing as yesterday where I used the stopwatch to speed up the time of the plants, but I found that things were completely different from how it should have been.

Once the crops had reached the normal size of crops, they didn’t stop growing.

They continued to grow under the sped up time until they were twice as large before even reaching three times as large.

Even when they were three times as large, it still didn’t seem like it was about to stop.

It really seemed like there was no end to the growth of these crops with how they continued to grow in size.

Which was why I had no choice but to stop the stopwatch in the end.

I picked one of the crops that had grown and I could feel the weight of it in my hands.

It wasn’t that it was excessively heavy. This tomato was three times as large as a normal tomato, so that was why it was three times as heavy as well.

No, it was actually a bit heavier, but I knew that this was because of how it grew.

It was clearly holding far more nutrients and water than a normal tomato was.

No matter how one looked at it, this really was the definition of a perfect crop.

But this wasn’t something that could be grown by normal people.

"So divine energy has this kind of effect on crops..." I muttered to myself as I held the tomato.

However, the real shock came when I finally took a bit out of it.

It was like an explosion of flavour that hit me all of a sudden with how juicy it was.

"This tomato is unlike anything that I’ve ever had before..."

It really made me want to share it with others with how delicious it was, but I quickly came back to my senses.

Divine energy was needed to grow this thing, which meant that it was dangerous.

There was no telling if this tomato had absorbed the divine energy that had been used to grow it.

If normal people were to eat this tomato, then there really was no telling what would happen.

"In the end, I can only destroy this with my own hands." I said while shaking my head with a bitter smile.
