Chapter 455: Chapter 455: Beneath the Flood

The two boats moved steadily across the endless stretch of murky water.

The lack of obstacles made it feel like they were out to sea.

The earlier battle had not slowed them down one bit, if anything, it had made them more focused.

They had realized that anything could be hiding in the seemingly calm and harmless stretch of water.

Now, no one treated the flood as a temporary inconvenience that would disappear with time or a lucky source of ready food.

This was a battlefield, and beneath it, some dangerous things had made it their habitat.

Leng Pan sat in the leading boat quietly, her focus completely on the small metal disk in her palm.

Lu Zhen sat beside her and acted like a safety belt.

He held onto her as if he was afraid that a small jolt would throw her overboard into the dirty water.

"Slow down." They had been moving for twenty minutes when she suddenly instructed Assistant Yao, who insisted on being the helmsman.

Assistant Yao did as he was told and reduced the speed of the boat.

"Baby, what is it?" Lu Zhen leaned closer to his wife and asked casually.

For now, he didn’t take the creatures they had encountered seriously.

So, he was still casual about everything.

"Take a look." Instead of saying what she found, Leng Pan raised the disk closer to her husband and showed him.

The light on the disk was flashing between the three possible colors.

It flashed green, then yellow, then red.

It kept alternating as if everything was mixed together.

"Does this mean there are both aliens and zombies nearby?" Lu Tao asked.

"Probably. Let’s put our plan to the test." Leng Pan replied and gave the disk to Lu Zhen.

She then squatted next to the edge of the boat and bent over to dip her hand in the water.

She then released her superpower and the water around her hand vibrated a little before calming down.

Her superpower extended like tentacles from her hand and spread in all directions.

Some also went down and soon, she had her results. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

"There are creatures below." She said as she pulled her hand back from the water.

Then, warm water began to flow from her palms and she washed her hands clean.

She didn’t like the fact that she had to touch the murky water to know what was inside.

She had to practice some more and improve her ability.

If she could sense what was around with coming into contact with the water physically, then that would be a blessing.

"Can you tell what is in the water? The light is flashing both yellow and red. Does that mean there are both aliens and zombies below?" Sonny from the other boat asked.

He wasn’t talkative, but he liked being prepared.

"That’s a huge possibility. Also the number isn’t so small, so prepare for battle and don’t let your guard down." Leng Pan warned while she was also observing their surroundings to prevent a sneak attack.

Everyone went on high alert.

Even though they had seen how easily Leng Pan had killed the other alien, they didn’t dare to gamble.

What if the ones that appeared next were many times stronger?

Suddenly, waves began to appear on the previously calm water as if something massive was trying to come to the surface.

"Get ready to fight." Lu Zhen gave the order and everyone grabbed their weapons.

For those using superpower, they formed weapons with their spiritual energy and stood back-to-back with each other on the boats.

Except for the people steering the boats, everyone else was ready to fight.

BOOM!

A massive creature burst out of the water between the two boats.

Water splashed as high as three meters in all directions drenching those in the boats like rats.

However, no one dared to flinch or get distracted.

The training they had endured over the last week wasn’t in vain.

The creature that broke out of the water was terrifying to look at. It was at least five meters long and resembled a grotesque between a human and a fish.

"What abomination is this?" Lu Tao asked at the sight of it.

Leng Pan, Lu Zhen, and those who had experienced the apocalypse on ancient earth didn’t look surprised.

This wasn’t the first time they were seeing such monsters.

During the earlier apocalypse, they had fought countless such monsters.

These monstrosities were created through experiments and what made everything worse was that it was done by humans.

Fellow humans were helping aliens to create capable fighters to take on their own kind just for a promise of power that might not materialize.

The creature had limbs extending from both sides of its body and was covered in hard scales.

It had a wide mouth like a shark with sharp, jagged teeth.

"Damn...can someone tell me what the hell is this?" Even Blaze who was usually serious cursed at the sight of the creature.

"Don’t mind what it is, just kill it." Ouyang Jin replied, already shooting wind blades at the creature.

He was a warrior, a soldier in ancient earth as well, so he wasn’t a stranger to any of this.

"I wish I could remain as calm as you guys seeing something so bizarre." Juan Ke muttered as he used his telekinesis power to throw a knife that grazed the surface of the creature’s scales but did no damage.

The creature didn’t seem to have felt any attack on it as it shot out of the water with its head facing the sky and whistled.

Even though the sound could be said to be a whistle, it was so sharp and penetrating that it made those people on the boats dizzy.

"Cover your ears. It’s a sound attack." Leng Pan shouted while at the same time she used water to create a barrier, covering her ears.

She hadn’t expected these creatures to have such ability.

Everyone followed Leng Pan’s advice and covered their ears.

However, before they could breath a sigh of relief after the sound disappeared, more creatures jumped out of the water as if in a competition.
