Chapter 454: Chapter 454: Pungent Smell
"You think hiding in water gives you an advantage?" Leng Pan said coldly.
She was a little angry that her teammate had been injured soon after leaving the base.
Even though it wasn’t death, to her, it wasn’t much different.
She lowered her hand and touched the water.
As if spreading her water spiritual energy, the water around the creature rose and formed a solid wall around it. The creature seemed to be pushed from below and forced to the surface.
With a wave of the other hand, rain began pouring from the sky.
However, it was only targeted at the small area where the creature was blocked in.
The pungent smell of the rain told everyone there that it wasn’t simple rain but acid rain.
Leng Pan was finally using the skill she had mastered back in the testing center.
As the rain fell on the creature, it began thrashing and its body was sizzling.
The acid rain was literally stripping flash off the creature.
Leng Pan didn’t let it go even when only bones were left.
She kept pouring the acid rain on it until the bones dissolved as well.
Only then did she let the walls fall and the rain stop.
Looking at the disk, the flashing light slowly transitioned from red back to green.
"It really works." Lu Tao said with pride when he saw the disk change after the alien disappeared.
"Mmm....and it works beautifully since it can detect the enemy from a distance away before they attack. This way, we will have more time to prepare." Leng Pan said as her hand tightened a bit around the disk.
"Now we have to learn how to detect the aliens faster after discovering their existence." Lu Zhen added.
Indeed, even though the disk helped them to detect that there was an alien nearby, they hadn’t discovered it in time until it surfaced and attacked.
However, if they could locate the enemy immediately after the light changes on the disk without the help of Lu Hao and Lu Tao, then their battle success would increase significantly.
They couldn’t always have the two most sensitive people with them.
Lu Tao was more fitting to just stay at home and invent a few more gadgets so they can’t rely on his super hearing and super vision all the time.
Lu Hao could always go with them, but it wasn’t mandatory.
Besides, since they had accepted him as family, he wasn’t their working horse.
So, he could go out when he wanted to and stay home when he didn’t want to.
"I think the aliens have an energy signature, otherwise the disk wouldn’t have been able to pick up their presence.
If we could use our senses to detect it, then we could reduce injuries and casualties from sudden attacks." Leng Pan said thoughtfully.
"That is a good idea. But I guess only those with superpowers can do that." Vanish said with some regret.
"That’s still better than nothing. Besides, it’s not like any team would go out consisting only ordinary people." Ouyang Jin chimed in too.
"That’s true. Then we should start studying the frequency of the aliens when they breath or move." Juan Ke muttered.
"Yao, did you notice anything when the creature moved?" Lu Zhen suddenly turned to his assistant and asked.
The others turned to look at Assistant Yao and some didn’t understand why Lu Zhen was asking him that.
However, Leng Pan immediately understood.
Assistant Yao was a speed-type superpower user. He could see the trajectory of things moving at high speed better than anyone else.
So, it was indeed better to ask him.
"It was swimming. But its movement was very fast. Like a fish in water. Although it had a human appearance, while in water, it is similar to an aquatic animal." Assistant Yao said.
"That’s indeed true. It moved very fast, but it was still slow and I could see where it was going." Lu Hao nodded as he said this.
Only at this moment did Leng Pan and Lu Zhen remember that apart from lightning, Lu Hao seemed to have other abilities and speed was one of them.
He had been using lightning in battles so much that they totally forgot about his other abilities.
Moreover, after leaving the testing center last time, they hadn’t really tested any of his other abilities.
They didn’t even know if he had awakened more of them.
"So, the creatures or aliens can adapt to different environments at will. This explains the need for the disasters as they limit human abilities and are even fatal to them. However, to the aliens, this is an advantage because they can adapt." Leng Pan said, looking into the distance.
In the ancient earth, she hadn’t taken the time to know the aliens. She had been wholly focused on killing the enemy and driving the aliens out of earth.
However, now that she thought about it, maybe if she had bothered to understand the characteristics of the aliens, she would have found a way to defeat them.
"Humans are full of potential. If they can adapt, so can we. Especially since we have diverse superpowers. I don’t believe that if we combine our abilities, we can’t defeat these intruders." Lu Zhen patted his wife on the shoulder in comfort.
Leng Pan felt that what her husband said made sense.
Indeed, they had been complicating things a bit too much. If they just understood the enemy and used what they had, they would definitely find a way to survive and win.
"Let’s keep going. Let’s put what we just thought of to the test. We can see if we can spot the aliens before they attack after detecting them." Leng Pan became lively again and gave instructions.
"That’s my girl. Let’s not dwell on the past. We should look forward. When the apocalypse ends, we will have a lot to discover." Lu Zhen smiled and planted a soft kiss on his wife’s forehead.
The others in the two boats looked away from the two lovers hell bent on feeding them dog food.
