Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Good News
Qin Tuo had been about to leave, but he stopped short when he heard the name "Cyan Fire Gang."
He slowly turned around, his eyes narrowing as a cold glint flashed within them.
"You said you’re with the Cyan Fire Gang?"
Qin Tuo confirmed.
Huzi thought Qin Tuo was scared and laughed smugly.
"We’re members of the Cyan Fire Gang. Scared now, kid? Pay up, then get on your knees and kowtow. If you do, Grandpa here might consider letting you off the hook."
However, Qin Tuo slowly shook his head and sighed.
"I was going to spare you, but since you said you’re with the Cyan Fire Gang, you can only blame your own bad luck."
With that, he walked straight toward him.
"Kid, what do you think you’re doing!"
Huzi jumped in fright, trembling.
Qin Tuo extended his foot and stomped down hard on Huzi’s hand.
"AHHH..."
Huzi let out a bloodcurdling scream, like a pig being slaughtered.
Qin Tuo slowly ground his leather shoe back and forth, and the screams grew even more horrifying.
The bank’s security guard ran out to see what was happening and jumped in shock.
But when he saw it was Qin Tuo, he immediately knew better than to get involved.
After a full half-minute, Qin Tuo finally lifted his foot. Huzi had already passed out from the pain.
His hand was already shattered. It was unlikely he’d ever be able to use it to collect high-interest loans again.
The few thugs standing nearby turned pale with fear, not daring to say a word.
Qin Tuo shot them a cold glance before turning and walking away.
When he got back to the entrance of his apartment complex, he found Han Zilin standing there, looking around anxiously.
"Zilin!"
Qin Tuo hurried over.
Han Zilin was both surprised and overjoyed. She looked Qin Tuo over from head to toe.
"Brother Tu, I’m so glad you’re okay!"
Qin Tuo asked, puzzled.
"Zilin, what are you doing here? Why haven’t you gone home yet?"
Han Zilin shook her head.
"Brother Tu, I was too worried about you to go back. If anything had happened to you, I would never have been able to forgive myself."
A warm feeling spread through Qin Tuo’s chest, and he smiled.
"Silly girl. Don’t worry, I’ve taken care of it. Those guys won’t dare bother you again."
Han Zilin was suddenly very curious.
"Oh? Brother Tu, how did you take care of it?"
Qin Tuo took her hand and started walking.
"Don’t ask too many questions, little one. Just trust me, those thugs won’t dare harass you ever again."
Han Zilin finally let out a breath she had been holding.
She had trusted Qin Tuo more than anyone ever since they were kids. The weight that had been hanging in her heart finally lifted.
"Brother Tu, thank you. I really mean it, thank you!"
Han Zilin stopped and said gratefully.
Her large eyes stared at Qin Tuo, a strange light appearing within them.
Qin Tuo was slightly startled. ’Why is this girl looking at me like that?’
Suddenly, Han Zilin stood on her tiptoes, pulled Qin Tuo’s face toward her, and gave him a quick kiss.
Qin Tuo’s eyes widened, and a strange feeling washed over him.
When Han Zilin came to her senses, her face flushed slightly, and she stammered.
"Brother Tu, I... I didn’t mean to. I was just so happy, I couldn’t help myself... I’m sorry."
But Qin Tuo shook his head and chuckled.
"Silly girl, what’s there to be sorry about?"
Seeing that Qin Tuo didn’t seem to mind, Han Zilin’s heart began to pound like a frightened deer.
Her expression was conflicted as a war raged within her.
’Should I just tell Brother Tu? Tell him I’ve always liked him...’
As her thoughts ran wild, Qin Tuo’s phone rang.
He picked it up and saw it was a call from Chen Man Ni.
"Hello, Manni, what’s up?"
On the other end of the line, Chen Man Ni asked, puzzled.
"Qin Tuo, why did your family move out of Half Moon Bay? Why didn’t you tell me?"
Qin Tuo sighed.
"It’s just that my parents said they weren’t used to living there, so we all moved back."
"Oh, I see. If it was something else, you shouldn’t hesitate to tell me!"
Chen Man Ni said with concern.
Qin Tuo nodded and said with a smile, "Don’t worry, it’s nothing else. You go on with your business!"
"Alright, Qin Tuo. I’ll hang up for now. I’ll come visit your parents another day."
After a few more words, Chen Man Ni hung up.
Han Zilin asked cautiously,
"Brother Tu, was that your girlfriend on the phone just now?"
she added, her expression incredibly tense.
Qin Tuo froze for a moment, not knowing how to answer.
He wasn’t sure how to define his relationship with Chen Man Ni.
To say they were just friends felt like an understatement of their closeness.
But to call them lovers felt like a bit of a stretch.
Seeing Qin Tuo’s long silence, Han Zilin gave a faint smile.
"Don’t overthink it, Brother Tu. I was just asking. If you don’t know how to answer, just forget it."
But in her heart, she felt an indescribable sense of loss.
...
「In a villa in the suburbs, the Zhao Family estate.」
Zhao Peng sat on his bed, a cast on his leg, his face dark and sullen.
He had to rely on crutches and a wheelchair to get around, no different from a cripple.
Lately, his temper had grown more and more explosive, and he would smash things around the house from time to time.
A servant, cautiously carrying a bowl of medicine, knocked on the door.
"Young Master, it’s time for your medicine..."
Zhao Peng’s eyes glared as he swung his crutch, smashing it forward violently.
"Medicine, my ass! All day long, it’s ’drink your medicine, drink your medicine’! Are you trying to curse me to die sooner?"
The servant’s face paled, and he quickly apologized.
"Get the hell out! If you dare show your face in front of me again, I’ll beat you to death!"
Zhao Peng’s face was purple with rage as he continued to curse viciously.
After his tirade, he collapsed weakly back onto the bed.
Zhao Peng knew in his heart that if he didn’t get Qin Tuo killed, this festering grudge would torment him for the rest of his life.
"Damn you, Qin Tuo! How can I ever be happy as long as you’re still alive!"
Zhao Peng stared viciously out the window, his fists clenched tightly.
But he also knew this wish would be difficult to fulfill.
That guy had latched onto the Chen Family’s thigh—he wasn’t someone Zhao Peng could afford to provoke easily.
Just then, Xu Min suddenly ran in, excited.
"Honey, good news! Great news!"
Xu Min was still outside the door, but her voice was brimming with excitement.
Zhao Peng sat up, his face still grim.
He hadn’t heard a single piece of good news in a long time.
Xu Min said excitedly,
"Honey, have you heard? Qin Tuo’s family of three has been kicked out of Half Moon Bay! They’re back in their old, rundown complex now."
Zhao Peng’s eyes lit up as he realized something.
"You mean..."
Xu Min nodded emphatically, thrilled.
"Haha, the meaning is obvious! It looks like that brat Qin Tuo has had a falling out with the Chen Family. Why else would he move out?"
Zhao Peng’s eyes went wide, and then he finally couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
"Excellent! This is truly excellent!"
Xu Min also said with satisfaction,
"That’s right, honey. You can finally get your revenge."
Zhao Peng looked incredibly smug.
"Don’t you worry. This time, I’ll make sure that brat Qin Tuo wishes he were dead. Only then will I be able to vent this hatred in my heart!"
