Chapter 478: Chapter 478 - S-Ranked Dungeon(Part 4)

I zipped down as a Wyvern shot towards me, tilting my body across as it snapped its jaws at my right arm, before meeting its gaze and driving my tail towards its eye, plunging in and piercing its brain.

I swiftly yanked my tail back out as it began to plummet, before flying up with a sharp flap of my wings as a blazing fireball came shooting towards me from behind, before I spun across as another Wyvern charged in towards me.

As it began to close in on me, I unleashed a devastating blast of blue flames, the Wyvern starting to veer away in alarm but it was too slow to react, my flames engulfing it and setting it ablaze, before I rapidly whipped my tail across as it thrashed around in agony, slicing its throat open before it could react.

Wyverns have a fairly high resistance to flames, and while my blue flames are still plenty effective against them, it takes a while to actually kill them with it.

In this world, all Dragons and Wyverns can only breath flames, there aren’t any water, wind, lightning, etcetera, variants like there were in my previous world.

I then glanced across the area as a pained roar rang out, to see Celes having hitched a ride on the back of one of the Wyvern’s.

Her blades were plunged into the back of its neck, and she was channeling a massive amount of lightning through them and into the Monster’s body.

A bright electric flash then erupted out as she burst a massive amount of lightning into the Monster through her blades, killing it.

As it began to plummet, another one came zipping in towards her from in front, a smirk spreading out across her lips as she raced along the back of the neck and head of the one she’d killed, before leaping straight towards the other one as it opened its jaws, flames swirling in its mouth.

Her right blade was sparking and crackling intensely, coated in a blindingly bright electric glow, before she unleashed a powerful thrust of her right arm and released the charged up, concentrated lightning, in the form of a rapid, piercing beam.

Before the Monster could unleash its flames, the electric beam zipped straight into its mouth in the blink of an eye, before bursting out the back of its head, killing it before it even realized what had happened.

I then swiftly extended out my tail and sent it zipping towards her as she began to plummet, coiling it around the middle of her torso as it reached her, catching her before she could fall any further and gently setting her down on the ground as I lowered her.

"Thanks!" She called out, as I unleashed a roaring blast of blue flames at the last remaining Wyvern on this floor as it shot towards me, dazing it as my blast slammed square onto the middle of its snout, before I spun across and whipped my tail towards it as it snapped its jaws open.

My tail slashed across the middle of its head, slicing the top of its head clean off, blood spraying out as its body plummeted and slammed onto the ground.

Alright, that takes care of all the Monsters on this floor. We were upto the seventy-third floor now, and there’d been around twenty-five Wyverns up here.

While we are unscathed again, this swarm took a while to take down. We’d scattered them with powerful blasts, before splitting up and cutting them down one by one before they could regroup.

"Hey, that was a risky move at the end there, you could’ve gotten hurt if I hadn’t caught you," I frowned, as I swooped down and landed by Celes.

"Nah, I would’ve been fine, I’ve done that before. All I need to do is fire a blast of lightning at the ground, the force of the blast softens my fall," She explained.

"Huh, yeah, that makes sense."

"By the way, which floor are we on now? I lost count a while ago," She grinned sheepishly.

"If I’m not mistaken, I’m pretty sure this is the seventy-third floor. So, we’re just short of three-quarters of the way through," I informed her.

"No, we’re a bit further along than that. Based on the height of this Dungeon, I think it has somewhere between eighty to eighty-five floors."

"Wait, really? I thought S-Ranked Dungeons have a hundred floors," I responded in surprise.

"No, that’s just the most number of floors they can have. Any Dungeon with more than seventy-five floors are S-Rank," She explained.

Oh, right, I feel like I already knew that but forgot.

"Cool, that’s good. So, then we’ve got somewhere between seven to twelve floors left. I’m surprised we haven’t run into any Dragons yet though," I mused in response. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"I’m pretty sure we’ll run into them soon, probably within the next two or three floors. Mind if we take another break? Since the number of Wyverns have been above twenty over the last few floors, it feels like I’ve been racing about constantly, my legs are kinda sore," She admitted sheepishly.

"Like I said before, it’s upto you to set the pace, so you don’t have to ask my permission, you know. We have no reason to rush, so let’s rest until you feel ready to keep going again," I replied, patting her head.

"Okay. Maybe we could have a round or two of booze while we rest?" She suggested wryly.

"Yeah, that’s probably not the best idea, Celes. We can drink to celebrate after we clear this Dungeon and head back, but getting drunk, even a little bit, while we’re still inside the Dungeon sounds pretty risky," I shook my head.

"Fair enough, I just figured getting a light buzz going could help ease the soreness in my legs, but I guess you’re right. In that case, could you maybe massage my calves, if that’s okay?"

"Huh? Are you sure?"

"Uh, shouldn’t I be asking you that? I am the one making the request, after all," She responded in bemusement.

"Yeah, but I-...never mind. Sure, I can do that."
