Chapter 477: Chapter 477 - S-Ranked Dungeon(Part 3)
"Damn, that thing’s loud," I frowned, as a Wyvern roared at us, before unleashing a blazing wave of flames towards us.
I swiftly stepped forward and fired out my blue flames, canceling out the Monster’s flames before it frantically flew out of the way in alarm as my flames roared through the air towards it, narrowly evading the attack.
We were upto the thirty-sixth floor now, we’d encountered nothing but Dragonoids upto this point. They appeared in increasingly larger packs with each subsequent floor, but we still breezed past them pretty easily.
And now, finally, we’ve got something different to fight, and more importantly, something stronger. Looks like it’s just a single Wyvern on this floor, but based on the pattern across the previous floors with the Dragonoids, we should encounter more and more Wyverns with each passing floor.
We’re over a third of the way through this Dungeon now, and we’re only just getting started. Let’s see if there are any Monsters that can give a real fight...
"Since it’s staying airborne and keeping its distance, this is a bit more a challenge," Smiled Celes, firing powerful blasts of lightning at the Wyvern.
It swerved and weaved through the air to avoid her blasts, before roaring in pain as she landed a hit on its stomach, its body seizing up sharply and stiffening, before it blasted out a volley of fireballs down towards us.
I extended out Magic Eater and consumed the incoming flames, before spreading out my wings and zipping up into the air, barreling towards it at full speed.
The Monster’s eyes widened in alarm as I shot towards it, before flying away as fast as it could, but it was no use. It was much slower than I was, so I was steadily gaining on it.
As I began to close in, it spun around and unleashed a scorching blast of flames towards me, before swiping its claws at my head as I swallowed up the flames with Magic Eater.
I swiftly raised my hand and caught its arm, halting its swing in its tracks, before it roared in pain as I tightened my grip, its scales cracking severely as sprays of blood burst out through the cracks.
I then let go of it and flew back as a massive blast of lightning came shooting up towards it, a stuttering roar of pain ringing out as the attack collided against the Monster on the full, severely burning and electrocuting it, before I extended my tail and whipped it across as the Monster began to plummet, slicing through its neck and decapitating it.
A loud crash rang out as its body plummeted and slammed onto the ground, before I swooped down and landed in front of Celes, giving her a high five.
"That was definitely tougher than the Dragonoids, but still too easy. That said, a large swarm of these things should pose more of a challenge," I remarked, as I retracted my tail.
"Yeah, I’d say this Wyvern was pretty close to being as tough as that one Dungeon Boss we faced, in that B-Ranked Dungeon. It wasn’t as strong, but thanks to its flight, I’d say it was pretty close to that level in terms of difficulty," She mused thoughtfully.
"Mhm, I think that’s fairly accurate, more or less. Wanna take a short break before we continue on? We’ve covered a fair bit of ground at this point, so we should probably rest up a bit," I suggested.
"Sure, sounds good. I’m feeling a bit hungry too, so maybe we could have a light snack while we rest?"
"I don’t see why not. Actually, you should be the one who sets the pace. Since I don’t tire as fast, and I don’t need to eat, it’ll be better if you decide when we take breaks."
"Alright, then I’ll let you know whenever I feel worn out or hungry," She nodded, as we took a seat by a wall.
I opened up my Item Box and took out some food and a bottle of water, Celes digging in right away. I may not need to eat, but watching someone else enjoying food makes me crave it too.
"Don’t drink too much water, you’ll feel bloated and won’t be able to move as freely," I informed her, as she took several deep gulps from the bottle.
"Yeah, I know, I just feel thirsty-...ow. Ugh, this wall is so jagged and uneven, I want to slump back against it but it’s digging into my skin," She frowned.
"Wanna lean against me?" I suggested wryly, before my eyes widened in surprise as she scooted closer and leaned against my shoulder.
I was kinda half-joking, I didn’t think she’d actually do it. Not that I’m complaining. She’s so pleasantly warm, this is nice.
"Thanks, that’s a lot better. Wow, your shoulders are so big, mine feel tiny in comparison. Your arms are pretty big too," She remarked in fascination.
"Well, I am a guy. But it’s not like you’re skinny, you’re in pretty great shape yourself," I pointed out.
"I wonder how strong I’d be if got as big as you? Then again, if I built up my muscles that much, I’d probably get slower. I’m a lot shorter than you, so I’d end up pretty blocky if I tried to get my arms and shoulders as big as yours," She laughed in response.
"Yeah, you should probably avoid that. Your speed is your greatest weapon, after all, so you shouldn’t compromise on it."
"Mhm, I know. Gotta say, I’ve never relaxed like this inside a Dungeon, it’s kinda surreal," She grinned sheepishly.
"Now that you mention it, I’m feeling pretty relaxed too. Which probably isn’t a good thing...just because we’ve been breezing through it with ease so far doesn’t mean we should get careless and let our guards down," I frowned warily.
"True, we might be taking it a bit too easy. I’ll try to be more alert going forward."
