Chapter 476: Chapter 476 - S-Ranked Dungeon(Part 2)

"Sweet, looks like at least three days have passed since this one appeared, we can enter. And I’m not picking up any lingering human scents, so it seems like we’re the first here," I remarked, as we arrived at the Dungeon and took a look at the entrance.

"Mhm, then let’s head in before that changes. Here’s hoping the Monsters in there are strong enough to really test my skills against," Replied Celes eagerly.

"At the very least, given the amount of ground we’ll need to cover to get to the top, we’ll at least break a sweat," I responded with a wry smile.

"But you don’t really sweat, right?"

"Well, yeah, I don’t...but, you know, figuratively speaking. And while I don’t sweat, it’s not like I have infinite stamina, I do get tired and need to sleep," I pointed out.

"Oh, right, you do sleep. Gotta say, the way your body works is kinda confusing," She smiled in bemusement.

"Not really. The main difference between my body and a human body is that I don’t produce waste, which includes sweat, it just gets converted to pure energy and expelled from my body, which is what wears me out. Other than that, I’ve got a lot of similarities to human bodies, functionally speaking," I explained, as we ventured into the Dungeon.

"I wish I was a Unique Monster too, it seems so convenient," She sighed enviously.

"Not necessarily. I mean, yeah, it is convenient, but since I’m effectively immortal, I’m bound to end up all alone sooner or later," I pointed out with a wistful smile.

That’s something I’ve been dreading this whole time, I try not to think about it as much as possible, but I can’t help it sometimes.

"For what it’s worth, I’ll stick by you for as long as I’m alive, so you won’t be alone for the foreseeable future, at least," She replied, lightly nudging me.

"Thanks, Celes, I appreciate that," I smiled, patting her head.

"You do that a lot, huh?"

"Oh, sorry...I’ll stop if you don’t want me to," I responded, sheepishly pulling my hand away.

"No! Uh, I-I mean, I don’t mind it, so you don’t have to stop. It actually feels nice," She admitted quietly, averting her gaze as I spotted a tinge of red across her cheeks.

She looks even cuter after the haircut I gave her. Her long hair suited her well, but she looks good with shorter hair too.

"I wonder what kind of Monsters are in this Dungeon? Generally, every Dungeon has the same type of Monsters, right?"

"Mhm, yeah. There are some with multiple types, but those are pretty rare."

"Oh, looks like we’ll find out soon enough. I sense something ahead, four presences," I informed her.

"Got it," She nodded, drawing out her blades.

It wasn’t long before the presences I sensed came into sight. Four humanoid, reptilian creatures, they were each around six feet tall, with dark scales, sharp claws and fangs, slender bodies.

"What are those?" I asked Celes.

"Dragonoids, B-Ranked Monsters. Which means, if this Dungeon only has one type of Monster, we’ve got Wyverns and Dragons in store for us on the upper levels. Heh, this should be fun. I’ll take the two on the left," She smirked, as lightning cracked around her.

She has no practical reason to do that, she’s doing it on purpose to look cool. Well, whatever.

"Alright, then, let’s do this," I remarked, transforming my hands before I shot towards one of the Monsters.

Celes used her Electromagnetism to charge and spin a dagger as she raced towards one of the other Dragonoids, before launching it towards the Monster as she closed in.

It let out a sharp roar of pain as she sent it spinning straight into its left eye, blood pouring out as the blade plunged in, before she swiftly drove one of her short-swords into its throat, giving it a sharp twist and fatally wounding the Monster as she yanked the blade back out.

As the Monster I targeted snarled and swiped its claws at me, I whipped my tail across, slicing through the middle of its forearm and severing it, before swinging my right arm down as blood sprayed out and it roared in pain, striking the top of its head with my right blade and splitting its head open.

Its arms slumped to its sides as it fell over and hit the ground with a thud, right as a roar rang out as one of the remaining Dragonoids leapt at Celes, snapping its jaws at her.

She sidestepped across, evading it with ease before flinging her right blade straight up into the air and grabbed hold of its throat, tightening her grip before unleashing a devastating blast of lightning.

A cloud of smoke burst out of the Monster’s jaws as she killed it instantly, a thud echoing out as it hit the ground, wisps of smoke continuing to billow out of its mouth, right as the last remaining Dragonoid sprang at me with its claws raised.

I zipped forward and drove my knee up, striking its lower jaw with a sharp crunch, severely dazing it as a couple of fangs went flying out of its mouth, before I drove my elbow down, slamming it against the top of the Monster’s head and crushing its skull between my elbow and knee.

"Okay, I think that was passable as a warm-up. We’ll probably only encounter Dragonoids through the lower floors, I doubt we’ll see any Wyverns until we’re around the middle of the Dungeon. And the Dragons are likely on the upper floors," Mused Celes, as she sheathed her blade and tilted her head, before frowning as she failed to crack her neck.

"Let me show you how it’s done," I smirked, as I cracked my neck, a loud, satisfying pop echoing out.

"Ooh, that sounded good," She responded enviously, tilting her head across repeatedly to try and crack hers, before adding, "I don’t get it, sometimes it works perfectly, and other times it’s impossible, it’s embarrassing when it doesn’t work!"

"Come on, don’t try to force it, you could end up tweaking something," I replied, patting her shoulder to calm her down.

"It’s really bothering me, though. Hey, could you crack my back? I don’t think I’ll be satisfied until I get that pop somewhere," She grinned sheepishly.

"Just crack your knuckles."

"I already did that earlier, so it’ll be a while before I can do it again. Come on, please?"

"Alright, fine. Go on, cross your arms," I sighed as I stepped behind her.
