Chapter 438: Chapter 438 - Balance(Part 6)

Point-of-View: The Balancer

———————————————————————————

Hm, why were there so many humans in this desolate area between the two continents? Well, I suppose it doesn’t really matter, now that I’ve eliminated them all.

I had been making my way towards the region where I am sensing the largest concentration of powerful presences, but I took a detour to deal with those residing in this wasteland.

I have almost arrived at the region I’m targeting, I can sense several individuals spread out across the border of the region.

Ah, I see, it is a large wall...the presences I sense are scattered across the top of it. Hm? Several of them are disappearing, they’re using teleportation.

But why? I don’t understand, why are they leaving-...suddenly, a large beam of energy came shooting towards me, I swiftly teleported a few meters across to evade, the beam carving a deep path across the ground.

This energy, I believe it is the same that I bestowed upon the strongest of the Demons. Yes, I can feel his presence, along with several others.

I then turned my attention to the direction I was sensing them in, numerous figures entering my line of sight...I see Demons and Dragon Kings, as well as a few humans.

And based on what I’m sensing across the rest of the world, these are all the remaining Demons and Dragon Kings, I-...hm?

Wait...I cannot sense one of the humans that I am seeing. That must be the one from before. He appears to be a normal human, but...I need to take a closer look.

I then teleported behind the human, who stiffened and began to turn around as the others quickly scattered, before I reached out and grabbed his throat, lifting him up as I inspected him closely.

"What are you? Why can I not sense your presence? I should be able to sense all life in the world, so why are you an exception?" I inquired telepathically, as he struggled to break free of my grasp.

No, wait, I do sense something...something foreign and unnatural, a strange sensation. Whatever he is, he should not be here.

I do not know how such an anomalous existence came to be, but it does not matter...I simply need to drain his life force and eliminate him, simple-...

"L-let...go of me!" He snapped as I began to drain his life force, before his neck turned into a gelatinous mass and escaped my grip, right as he unleashed a sharp burst of pale blue flames, blowing me away.

I then teleported higher into the air as more blue flames and more of that obliterating energy came shooting towards me, colliding against each other and erupting.

What...what was that? What just happened?

The instant I tried to drain his life force, a terribly alarming sensation came over me...it felt as though, had I drained any of his life force, it would have poisoned my very being.

What’s more, his flames inflicted damage...that should not be possible. No creature, be it human, Demon, Dragon, Vampire or any other race, should be able to harm me. How can this be?

I then shot across the air as a volley of pure Mana projectiles came raining down towards me, a human donning an armor-type Soul Weapon firing at me.

I teleported behind him, before he spun one of his weapons behind himself without turning his gaze, pulling the trigger and blasting out a massive beam of Mana, striking the middle of my body and pushing me back through the air with immense speed.

I came to a halt as the beam then petered out, before a powerful gust of wind erupted out towards me and sent me hurtling across to my left, before my gaze shifted down as a pillar of earth came rising up towards me rapidly, slamming onto my body and knocking me higher up into the air.

Even though these attacks do not harm me, they are rather vexing.

I only have my physical strength, teleportation and the ability to drain life force...the balance of the world being thrown off forced me awake from my hibernation several millennia earlier than I otherwise would have, I have only regained but a small fraction of my power.

However, this is no cause for concern...I do not tire or require rest, I simply need to wait until their wear themselves out, and then, I can eliminate them, it is but a matter of time.

No, there is one concerning element here...the individual I cannot sense, his attacks seem capable of damaging me.

Since I cannot drain his life force, I must use force to eliminate him. If he dies, the rest are no threat to me.

I then teleported behind him and drove my hand towards his heart, piercing through his back and bursting out the front of his chest-...what?

Once again, his body turned gelatinous, before constricting and trapping my arm in his chest. I began to try and wrest my arm free of his grasp, before he drove his right elbow back while coating it in lightning, slamming it against the side of my stomach.

A-again, he inflicted damage...! His Mana is toxic to me, I-I cannot allow him to hit me again!

I then pulled my arm free from the grip of his gelatinous body, before teleporting a short distance away from him.

Another human then came charging in towards me with an armor and dual blade-type Soul Weapon, as well as wings, a tail and scales over his skin...I see, a Contract.

He slashed at me with his blades as he closed in, slicing through my body but having no real effect, before I rapidly reached out towards him.

He did not move as my hand closed in on his neck, before suddenly flying back with a powerful flap of his wings as my fingers made contact with his neck, a startled look on his face.

"What the...? Why’s my Intangibility not working?"

I see, he was attempting to use a Skill that would allow him to avoid attacks...but such abilities do not work against me. Still...he reacted so quickly.

This is bewildering...I am clearly faster than all of them, and I possess far greater physical strength as well. And yet, they are not only able to avoid my attacks, but land their own against me as well...very well, then.

It would appear that I must improve...I shall take note of any mistakes I make and account for them, it would be impractical to keep using attacks that do not work. I must carefully adjust and balance my attacks, until they start to work...
