Chapter 436: Chapter 436 - Balance(Part 4)
Point-of-View: The Balancer
———————————————————————————
"N-no, please...s-stay away from me!" Exclaimed a human in terror, before I grabbed hold of the top of their head and lifted them up, absorbing their life force.
The creature thrashed around, but to no avail, its resistance steadily growing weaker as I drained it of its life force, before going limp and slumping against my grasp.
I set the lifeless body down and stepped away from it, focusing on my detection to make sure none had escaped my notice...yes, it seems I’ve cleared this half of the world of all intelligent life.
Now, then, to move on to the other half...I detect an abnormal concentration of powerful presences in the northmost area of that half of the world, I shall start there and-...hm?
Strange...I just detected the use of Magic around the center of this half of the world. How can that be? I already eliminated all the humans on this continent, there should not be any left to use Magic.
No, that’s not the strangest part...I do not sense a presence anywhere near the area where I detected the use of Magic.
I must go there and see for myself, something is not right here, and I need to find out what. I shall teleport to the spot where I sensed the Magic signature, I cannot ignore such an anomalous, unexpected happening.
I then teleported to the location I’d sensed Magic being used it, looking around as I appeared there...hm, I don’t sense any living presences.
Does that mean no one is here? I am quite certain that sensed Magic in this area, if a human had used Magic here, I should be able to sense them.
This is quite strange. I must find the cause, I cannot overlook such an anomaly. But I-...hm?
Suddenly, I detected the use of Magic again, and quite nearby at that, swiftly turning my attention in the direction it came from, spotting a figure in the shadows between two buildings, before it suddenly vanished from sight.
What...what was that?
It did not get a clear look, but it appeared to be a human...but, then, why could I not sense their presence?
This does not make any sense, how confounding. How can there be a human who can avoid my detection?
I am able to sense all living beings in the world, even humans capable of opening separate dimensions are not able to evade my detection.
I can break through those dimensions and reach them, it should be impossible for any living creature to hide from me...so, then, how and why did I fail to detect this human?
When my gaze fell upon him, I felt a strange, unfamiliar sensation, it felt so...unnatural. Almost as if he was not of this world. But how can that be possible? It shouldn’t.
My purpose is to ensure balance in this world. Initially, there were only humans and animals, and the humans upset the balance of the world.
Therefore, I created the Monsters and Demi-Humans to keep the humans in check and restore balance. That consumed a tremendous amount of energy, and I was forced to go into an indefinite hibernation, only to awaken if and when the world was thrown out of balance.
That was but a millenia ago...the fact that the world has grown unbalanced in such a short time led me to the conclusion that starting over is necessary.
I must eliminate all intelligent life from the world and then start over...but it would appear as though there’s more to it than that.
That human-...or rather, human-like creature...-cannot be allowed to exist, eliminating it is my utmost priority. After that, I shall resume with eliminating all intelligent life from the other half of the world...

"Huh? What do you mean, you’re not sure?" Responded Satan in confusion.
"Just what I said...I think I saw what caused the energy wave, but I’m not sure what the hell it was. When I got to the Light Continent, the first thing I noticed was how quiet it was. And it didn’t take me long to find out that every single person in that city was dead...but something was weird about it, none of them were injured, it was as if they’d all just dropped dead. And the way they were all scattered about, it was like they were running away from something before they died.
And then, I think I saw what that ’something’ was. It was a humanoid being with a fully white, glowing body, it had eyes but nothing else, no mouth, ears or nose. No genitals either. And right after I saw it, Azazel frantically urged me to get out of there, he said the being made him feel an instinctive fear like never before. Plasmuk felt it too, and he was so terrified that he couldn’t say a thing. I didn’t feel anything though, and based on what they’re telling me, what they felt was different from the sensation of the energy wave," I explained in response.
"Does that ring any bells for you? I mean, at this point, you’re, like, the oldest person in the entire world, so if anyone would know something, it’d be you," Pointed out Lumena as she glanced at Satan.
"No, I’m afraid not, I’ve never encountered a creature like what you just described," Satan shook his head.
Yeah, if even he doesn’t have a clue, then there’s probably no one in the world who does. Seriously, what the fuck was that thing?
