Chapter 423: Chapter 423 - Counterattack(Part 8)

Izzy unleashed a fierce blast of Dragon Fire and reduced several clones to ash, before I shot towards one of them and whipped my blades across as I closed in, inflicting a couple of deep gashes across her torso, before she fired off an intense burst of blood towards me from the wound.
I swiftly turned intangible and phased right through the attack before passing through her body and driving one of my blades into the middle of her back from behind, a sharp cracking noise echoing out before she turned into a mass of blood and splattered across the floor...another clone, huh.
A loud crash then echoed out as Prysm slammed her axe against another clones, leaving just the original left, before Caera formed twelve more clones to take the place of the ones we’d destroyed.
She’s starting to look a bit worn out, and her movements are steadily slowing down...no doubt about it, this is working, we’re gradually eating away at her energy reserves.
She and the new clones then spread out across the space before unleashing a rapid volley of blood arrows towards us, I turned myself intangible as Izzy and Prysm zipped around to evade the projectiles.
Izzy fired off bursts of blue flames to vaporize the projectiles she couldn’t evade, while Prysm formed a powerful, swirling dome of wind around herself, deflecting the blood arrows shooting towards her.
"This is good, it proves that she is starting to get desperate. Her Blood Clone ability consumes so much energy that she usually refrains from using blood attacks while her Unique Ability is active, to conserve her energy. But she no longer has the luxury of being so conservative, I doubt it will be too long before she runs out of energy," Stated Frielektra, right as Caera and her clones unleashed bursts of dense, bloody mist, which billowed out and spread out across the space, the unpleasant stench of blood permeating the air.
The blood arrows then came shooting out with increased intensity and numbers, masked by the blood mist and making it hard to spot them until they closed in...still, the number of attacks won’t make a difference so long as my Intangibility Skill is active, and Prysm’s wind dome looked like it was strong enough to deflect the arrows even with this spike in intensity.
I spotted a flash of blue around the spot where Izzy had been, before I followed suit and fired out a wave of Dragon Fire, scrunching up my nose as the flames burned up the blood mist, the stench getting worse and stronger.
As we burned away the mist, Caera and her clones coming back into sight, I swiftly shot towards one of them as Izzy began reabsorbing the flames.
My target fired out a piercing beam of blood towards me, but of course, it was no use, the attack phasing right through me before I unleashed a powerful thrust of my right arm and drove one of my blades straight into the middle of her torso, shattering her core.
As she burst into a mass of blood, I zipped off to my left and unleashed another wave of blue flames, engulfing two more of the clones and reducing them to ash, before spinning around as another one tried to sneak up behind me and fired out a powerful blast of lightning from my mouth, hitting her chest and stunning her as her body stiffened up sharply, before I swiftly plunged my left blade towards her core, breaking through and eliminating her.
I then turned my gaze up and flew back as another one of them came swooping down towards me, evading her as she closed in and swiped at my head with her claws, before splitting her head open with a sharp swing of my left blade, and then sliced straight down, tearing through her neck and chest before striking her core and slashing it in half.
As she exploded into a mass of blood, I glanced around, to see that the rest of the clones had been wiped out as well-...hm?
"Wait...where’s the original?" I frowned, looking around as Izzy and Prysm flew over towards me.
"Maybe we killed her?" Suggested Izzy uncertainly.
"No, unlike her clones, I doubt she’d burst into blood when killed. Do you sense her, Argent?" Prysm asked me.
"No, I don’t...I only sense one powerful Vampire presence within the range of my Radar Skill, and since I can also sense Larrk, Satan and Aereeze near that one, it must be Dracula. I don’t sense any other powerful Vampire presences," I shook my head with a grimace as I focused on my Radar Skill.
Damn it...she got away...

Point-of-View: Caera

My, that was quite close...I would have certainly been killed had I stood my ground. That was a rather unfair battle, to go up against two individuals capable of using Dragon Fire, and on top of that, I couldn’t even use the moonlight barrier.
The others may be too prideful to retreat, but I’m not...I see no point in dying here, so I’m going to leave, live in hiding for a few decades or so and then blend into human society.
Yes, that sounds like a good plan...I definitely need to lay low, it’s quite likely that the Dark Continent will attempt to hunt me down for a while.
It seems I’ve managed to escape successfully, but I cannot relax just yet, I need to get as far away from this city, and this nation, as possible.
After I unleashed the blood mist, I intentionally drained most of my remaining energy with reckless, wasteful attacks, until my energy reserves were around the level of that of an ordinary Vampire.
Even if they can sense me, it’s unlikely that they will be able to tell me apart from the Vampires...fortunately, that human who has formed a Contract with Frielektra wasn’t using his sensory Skill during the battle. Presumably, it splits his focus, so he must have deactivated it.
That was quite fortunate for me, I would not have been able to get away if he had kept it active.
I wonder if any of the others will survive this battle? The only one who realistically might is Lord Dracula...I suppose it doesn’t really matter. If nothing else, at least I’m still alive...
