Chapter 96: Fairy And An Elf
After nearly ten minutes of explanation, Father Aldric finally managed to somewhat make the curious child understand the importance and symbolism of the Sun.
At least, that was what he hoped.
"Father Aldric has already spent quite a lot of time with all of you," David Nun said while clapping her hands lightly.
"So for now, we’ll continue toward the next location."
Several students looked unwilling.
Clearly, many still wanted to hear more stories from the old priest.
However, before leaving, each student received a small copy of the Holy Sun Scripture, which somewhat restored their mood.
Meanwhile, Father Aldric smiled warmly while watching them depart.
"Oh radiant Sun, please forgive the impatience of the young..."
He sighed softly.
Being assigned to perform his duties in this distant land was already exhausting enough, and with the Annual Sun Festival approaching soon, he would become even busier.
Soon afterward, David Nun led the students toward another section of the Holy Grounds.
This time, the surroundings resembled a vast forest.
However, the moment Caelum and the others stepped inside, he immediately sensed something strange.
The interior space was clearly far larger than what should have been possible from the outside.
’And illusion too...’
he silently observed the surroundings carefully.
Soon, a breathtaking scene unfolded before them.
An enormous forest stretched endlessly into the distance.
The atmosphere itself felt alive.
Birds chirped throughout the trees.
Countless insects buzzed softly.
Mystical beasts calmly drank water near glowing streams.
And floating throughout the forest were strange semi-transparent clusters of light.
Caelum’s eyes narrowed.
’Spirits...? Are those actual spirits?’
As he focused more carefully, he noticed countless elemental beings drifting through the environment.
A gentle breeze specifically brushed against him.
’Wind, fire, water, earth, light...’
Some spirits carried clear elemental properties.
Others felt stranger.
More abstract.
Caelum even sensed a few whose attributes he could not properly identify.
Space?
Emotion?
Or perhaps something even more mysterious.
Meanwhile, the awe visible on the children’s faces caused David Nun to smirk proudly.
"As all of you can see, this is the domain dedicated to the Goddess of Nature, Eryndor."
Then her expression became slightly serious.
"Normally, almost nobody is allowed to enter this area because it is considered protected territory. Although the real reason is actually something else."
Suddenly, David Nun frowned slightly.
"I was clearly blocking you," she muttered visibly irritated.
The space before them shrunk as a tiny figure materialized from nowhere.
"Hmph! Do you seriously think your lousy isolation barriers could stop the great me?!"
The creature floating before them was only about the size of an adult’s hand.
She possessed a tiny humanoid form, small pointed ears, long green hair, two pairs of delicate wings, and surprisingly extravagant clothing.
Then she proudly pointed toward herself.
"It is I! The one and only Fairy Mia!"
Instantly, the students lost composure.
"OH MY GOD! A real fairy!"
"But aren’t fairies usually found on another continent?"
"For something this small, she kind of looks like a bug..."
The moment those words escaped a girl’s mouth.
Mia instantly froze before she slowly turned toward the student.
"...Do I still look like a bug?"
The next moment, she shot forward at terrifying speed before grabbing the girl’s hair.
"Aaaaah!"
"I don’t think fairies are supposed to behave like this!"
"She’s basically a unique hair-pulling bug!"
Mia stopped mid-action coughing awkwardly while pretending nothing happened.
Sparkling mana dust drifted from her wings afterward, forming a miniature rainbow in the air.
"Hmph! How about this?! This is something only fairies can do!"
This time, the children genuinely appeared impressed.
But Caelum immediately ruined the atmosphere.
"Illusion magic can reproduce that too," he corrected her.
"Woof! Owner, I still haven’t forgiven what you did earlier," Voomie barked resentfully from his shoulder.
"But how is this useful in combat?" Bonjour asked seriously while crossing his arms as Sénior nodded in agreement.
Paul adjusted his glasses thoughtfully.
"Actually, colored effects depending on mood could improve my designs..."
"Oh my Master, please focus on learning combat first." Jojo sighed dramatically.
"Not bad, but personally I prefer golden color." Skyler commented thoughtfully.
The golden slime resting atop his head jiggled in agreement.
Ryan casually picked his nose while listening to the old man within his sword mutter several unpleasant things about fairies.
At this point, Mia’s expression had already become darker than dark magic.
"Can all of you stop being mean already?" Anastasia said while glaring at the boys.
"That’s right!" Loreal added.
"If you continue bullying her, I’ll punch you!"
The little fairy was clearly getting emotionally attacked, though fairies were usually the mischievous one, it seems even she can’t win in front of these children.
CLAP!
David Nun clapped once.
Divine energy exploded outward and shook the entire forest instantly.
"Everyone, quiet!"
The noisy students became silent as David Nun looked toward Mia tiredly.
"And you, I need to finish this tour quickly today so stop causing trouble."
"Ehhh?!" Mia protested loudly.
"I’m not causing trouble!"
She floated proudly beside the group.
"I’m simply accompanying you all!"
"Then at least keep your mouth shut for once!" David Nun yelled while continuing to lead the group forward.
Mia puffed her cheeks in dissatisfaction but ultimately remained silent.
For nearly several minutes, the group walked deeper into the forest-like domain before finally arriving before an enormous tree radiating faint divine energy.
The tree itself was colossal.
Its trunk alone appeared wider than several houses combined, while countless glowing leaves shimmered gently beneath the sunlight.
And seated atop one of its massive branches, was a figure.
The students looked upward in curiosity.
Long light-yellow hair, pointed ears, fair skin and an appearance beautiful enough to make many students stare blankly.
It was the stereotypical appearance of an elf.
"Oh my god, an elf, I haven’t seen one yet..."
"She looks unbelievably beautiful..."
Meanwhile, Ryan silently observed the figure carefully.
’Not bad, but the nun is still better.’ His thoughts shifted elsewhere.
The elf slowly stood up atop the branch before lightly jumping downward.
The surrounding winds moved along with him as if naturally making way for his descent.
His landing was so graceful that many students widened their eyes in admiration.
When, the students properly saw him, several expressions instantly became strange.
Turns out, the elf was a man.
Ryan felt greatly embarrassed.
He silently swore within his heart that next time he would definitely avoid judging gender purely based on appearance alone.
