Chapter 130: Mysterious System! Free Labourer
"Suppress."
Caelum spoke calmly as the projection of the Stone of Fä’l immediately responded.
The authority of the world descended upon the blood-red space, instantly freezing the divine entity where she stood.
Only then did Caelum reach out and catch the [Soul Banner of an Evil Cultivator] as it returned to him.
Feeling the banner back in his hands, he finally relaxed a little.
[Impossible...! This cannot be happening! How can you control that thing?!]
The divine entity stared at him in disbelief as her voice echoed throughout the crimson world.
Above Caelum’s palm, the phantom image of the Stone of Fä’l slowly materialized.
The divine entity’s expression became increasingly ugly.
That stone contained the very essence of a world so how could a mere human wield such authority?
Even Caelum found it strange, controlling her required almost no effort.
Just yesterday, she was in the enemy camp trying to kill him, now she couldn’t even move.
Is this what they mean when they say there are no eternal enemies?
’The System is truly mysterious, to think it can even interfere with divinity as expected of the one who reincarnated me!’
He silently gave a thumbs up to that chibi existence.
After a brief moment, he spoke again.
"Return to your human form."
[Kuhu...!]
The authority of the Stone descended once more as the divine entity trembled violently.
She tried desperately to resist, but it was useless.
The world’s authority completely overwhelmed her.
Her divine form slowly collapsed, the monstrous appearance disappeared and in its place stood a young woman.
A faint tear lingered at the corner of her eye.
The merged Past, Present, and Future now shared a single body.
Dark green hair flowed gently behind her, her emerald-green eyes were exceptionally clear.
Looking more carefully, Caelum noticed that her pupils contained several concentric rings and intricate green patterns, giving them an almost mystical appearance.
She looked nothing like the terrifying existence from before.
For a few moments, Caelum quietly observed her.
"I never asked this before but what is your name?"
The young woman’s expression immediately darkened.
"You have no right to hear my majestic Kuhu...!"
The authority of the Stone activated once again as her body stiffened.
Unable to oppose the command, she reluctantly answered.
"...My name is Cliodhna."
Caelum nodded.
"Alright Cliodhna, I don’t think I need to introduce myself, I only have one question and I was hoping you could answer it truthfully."
His expression became serious as he looked directly into her emerald eyes.
Cliodhna immediately understood, whatever answer she gave next, would determine her fate.
She slowly clenched her fists as her fingernails darkened and lengthened into sharp claw and blood began dripping from her palms.
Never in her life, not even after becoming what she was now...
Had she ever experienced such helplessness.
Especially before someone she had once regarded as nothing more than an insignificant mortal.
Yet one question continued lingering in her mind.
’How... How had this human gained control over the Stone of Fä’l?’
No matter how much she thought about it, she couldn’t understand.
Caelum finally broke the silence his voice was eerily calm.
"Why did you try to kill me?"
***
Caelum wore a dumbfounded expression.
Perhaps even feeling a little guilty because in the end, everything had happened because of him.
Still, several parts of Cliodhna’s explanation bothered him.
"So your original plan was to possess my body after putting my mind to sleep, erase everyone else’s memories, escape this place, and then seclude yourself until you completely gained control over the Stone of Fä’l. I have to admit, it’s a good plan, but I don’t particularly like the possession part."
Caelum said with a strange look before continuing.
"Then, after seeing our unexpected strength, you changed your strategy. You decided to leave your Present self sealed while using the Past and Future to send a spirit mark outside, but that entire scheme collapsed the moment I used the Soul Banner, which continuously drained the strength of your Present self."
Cliodhna lowered her head and nodded bitterly, her scheme had completely failed, and she glared resentfully at Caelum.
If only she had chosen someone else, anyone other than him.
Perhaps everything would have succeeded.
Unfortunately, greed had gotten the better of her.
She wanted the strongest body, the greatest talent, and the highest potential, so she chose Caelum.
Only to fail miserably.
"And the E-Boy was also in cahoots with you because you promised him an E-Girl..." Caelum muttered thinking about the bird.
’So I wanted to test my strength, and she wanted to scheme her way out, I guess our intentions simply collided and created this entire mess,’ Caelum made a random conclusion.
There was little point dwelling on the past now.
"Since our strength was still relatively low, the world itself restricted you, so you couldn’t unleash your full power even if you wanted to," he continued thoughtfully.
"That’s right, now I don’t want anything anymore, I just... I just want to die..." Cliodhna replied, tears slowly streaming down her face.
"Wait wait, there’s no need to cry, you’re an adult," Caelum hurriedly said, unwilling to see a grown woman cry.
"Who said adults can’t cry? And what else am I supposed to do after becoming someone’s slave?" Cliodhna sniffled pitifully.
While pretending to cry, she secretly observed Caelum’s expression as a faint smile appeared in her heart.
She still hadn’t given up!
If she could trick this human into lowering his guard, she could eventually regain her freedom, and after that, stealing back the Stone of Fä’l wouldn’t be impossible.
Contrary to her expectations, Caelum suddenly smiled evilly.
"Well, I suppose adults are allowed to cry," he said while nodding seriously.
"But I also can’t leave a divine-level subordinate (slave) wandering around freely, can I? That would be incredibly wasteful, so I guess I’m obligated to make you work."
"???"
Cliodhna froze.
Something about this conversation was now going in the wrong direction.
After all, Caelum possessed the mindset of a former Earthling and that too, Ten Thousand years from the Null Year.
