Chapter 108: Meteor Lake

"...Thank you for the dessert."

After giving a weak thank you, Anastasia departed together with a still-dazed Loreal.

Caelum remained standing there for a few moments, processing what had just happened.

"Why do I suddenly feel like a villain?" he muttered while looking up at the sky.

The weather was unusually hot today.

If possible, he wanted to go swimming.

The school had its own swimming pool, but that didn’t sound particularly exciting.

Just then, a message arrived on his School Badge.

It was from Paul.

Apparently, the others had already gathered and were waiting for him.

Soon, Caelum headed over to meet the boys, but not before sending Anastasia a message asking her to return the cups to Senior Ethan later, as he was not that familiar with Soleil.

After all, they weren’t petty thieves who stole dessert cups.

When he arrived, the group was already discussing their next activity.

"So what about gambling?" Jojo the Power Panda asked.

At some point, the panda had naturally become a member of the group.

"How about we go swimming instead?" Caelum suggested.

"So suddenly? I don’t even know how to swim." Paul replied.

"Wait a minute, are you talking about that place?!" Ryan said excitedly.

"What place?" Caelum asked slightly confused about what place.

"The area where that meteorite crashed and created a lake!" Ryan replied.

The others immediately remembered the incident from nearly two months ago.

A meteor had fallen from the sky and created a deep crater that later filled with water.

"That actually sounds fun," Skyler said.

There were even rumors that the lake was haunted.

Naturally, that only made it more interesting.

"I hate water, woof!" Voomie immediately protested.

"Who asked for your opinion?"

Caelum grabbed the dog’s mouth shut as the fat dog struggled indignantly.

"Woof! Woof!"

Unfortunately, nobody cared.

Watching this scene, Jojo sighed deeply.

’When will these children understand that money is important?’

He still wanted to visit the gambling stalls.

Today’s festival was a perfect opportunity to earn a fortune yet everyone wanted to go swimming.

The panda felt mentally drained.

"It’s too hot today anyway, right?" Caelum said.

The meal prepared by Jordon Ramtalk had left everyone feeling energetic and refreshed.

Between playing All Ball and swimming, the latter sounded far more appealing under the blazing summer sun.

"But I seriously don’t know how to swim!" Paul complained.

"Don’t worry," Sénior said while placing a hand on his shoulder.

"After you fall into the water, it comes naturally."

His tone sounded strangely menacing.

Paul’s face immediately turned pale.

"I am not a barbarian!"

Then after reaching a completely fair and unanimous agreement (?) the group finally departed toward the crash site where the mysterious meteorite had supposedly fallen.

"There is strangely no surveillance here," Caelum said as his eyes shone faintly.

Using his [Heaven Reading Eyes], he carefully examined the surroundings and the result surprised him slightly.

The area was only covered by a Third Circle Barrier Spell and a Third Circle Detection Spell.

There was nothing else.

Considering this was the site where a meteorite had supposedly crashed, the security felt rather lacking.

It was also far away from the main festival grounds, so not a single student or teacher could be seen nearby.

"Let’s go!" Skyler yelled excitedly while looking at the lake.

The water was crystal clear.

Even from the shore, they could see surprisingly deep into the lake.

The bottom appeared much farther down than it should have been.

"Wait, there is a detection spell here." Paul said as his glasses flashed.

A small magic circle appeared over the right lens.

It was a basic analysis spell.

After observing for a moment, Paul relaxed.

"Whoever placed it didn’t even bother hiding it."

"Then let me deal with it," Caelum said and a spear appeared in his hand.

The others watched curiously.

Following the flow of mana, he quickly discovered the spell’s medium.

A large boulder near the lakeside.

Walking over, he first erased his presence before inspecting the stone closely.

A glowing magic circle was embedded into its surface.

"Hmm, combine magic with two spells" Caelum narrowed his eyes.

It was a technique where two separate spell effects were combined into a single formation.

It was an advanced technique requiring a solid understanding of both spells involved.

The tip of his spear lit up with blue aura as he stabbed it directly into the boulder.

A sharp static-like sound echoed through the area.

Crack!

The magic circle flickered several times before collapsing entirely.

The glow disappeared.

Caelum turned and signaled the others.

"It’s clear."

"Doing illegal things is surprisingly exciting!" Skyler declared.

The future Saint of the Summoning Goddess looked far too enthusiastic.

Among the group, only Paul appeared genuinely nervous.

After all, students were explicitly prohibited from entering this area.

"Oh, my Master, I shall take the first dive!" Jojo declared heroically.

The panda had absolutely no fear of water.

"Jojo, catch him!"

Before anyone could react, Sénior grabbed Paul.

"OHHHHHHHH—!"

Paul was launched through the air.

The boy screamed in terror as he flew toward the lake.

SPLASH!

He landed directly in the water.

"HELP! SOMEONE HELP ME!"

Jojo immediately went after him to perform his duties as a responsible summon.

One after another, they jumped into the lake without even bothering to change out of their school uniforms.

Meanwhile, Caelum walked across the water.

Using aura beneath his feet, he casually stepped across the surface as though it were solid ground.

Only one individual remained behind, it was Voomie.

The fat dog sat beside the boulder with an expression of pure resistance.

She clearly had no intention of participating.

Water was evil.

Everything related to getting wet was evil.

Caelum smiled, unfortunately for her, he was still the owner.

"Summon Dog."

A summoning circle appeared on his palm.

Voomie blinked, one moment she was sitting peacefully.

The next moment she found herself in Caelum’s hands.

"...?"

Her eyes widened.

Then Caelum threw her.

"OWNER!"

Voomie screamed.

"I WILL REPORT YOU TO THE AUTHORITIES!"

The dog flew through the air in a beautiful arc.

As she sailed toward the lake, she unleashed a long string of curses that would have impressed even veteran sailors.

Unfortunately, her fate was already sealed.

SPLASH!

The dog entered the water.

"WOOOOOOF!"

Voomie cried out dramatically.

At that exact moment, a strange pulse of energy erupted from her body, that the others didn’t notice.

Time passed as the children swam and taught Paul swimming.

Then, the still water began moving.

At first, nobody noticed it.

Tiny ripples appeared across the surface and the lake’s temperature slowly began to drop.

A cold breeze swept across the area.

Exactly nine minutes and nine seconds later.

Something happened at the bottom of the lake.
