Chapter 104: Legendary Quest Ends In Failure

"Anyways, let’s get moving. It was only a spectacle that lasted for a moment," Caelum said, calling the others over.

The commotion caused by the phenomenon in the sky had already begun to die down.

Although many people were still discussing the beam of light that had descended from the sun, there was nothing they could do about it now.

The festival quickly regained its lively atmosphere.

"Are you asking me for pocket money...?" Paul asked in a deep voice while looking at Jojo.

Everyone immediately turned toward the pair.

Without another word, Paul took out a small pouch and tossed it toward the panda.

Jojo caught it smoothly before looking at Paul with a puzzled expression.

"Oh, my master? Is this actually money, or did you just hand me a collection of broken bamboo sticks?"

A question mark practically appeared above his head.

After living with Paul for several months, Jojo genuinely doubted whether his contractor ever had money on him.

The boy looked poor and acted poor and even complained about being poor.

Naturally, Jojo had already decided to take full advantage of the festival.

His plan was simple.

Invest Paul’s money, multiply it and then return as a wealthy panda.

As for how he planned to accomplish this, the answer was simple.

Gambling.

Several gambling stalls had opened for the festival, making today the perfect opportunity.

"Jojo, are you planning to visit the gambling stalls?" Skyler asked, his eyes shining.

"The idea doesn’t sound bad," Caelum admitted.

"Does everyone here actually have money?"

Everyone paused for a moment looking at each other, before anonymously nodding.

Their families had provided them with some spending money before they entered the school.

Since most of them rarely bought anything, a large portion of that money was still untouched.

"How about we turn this into a competition?" Ryan suggested excitedly.

Immediately, everyone’s attention shifted toward him.

"We all start with the same amount of money and then meet here again in half an hour. The person who earns the highest return wins."

"This actually doesn’t sound bad," Sénior commented.

Even Bonjour appeared interested.

His barbarian instincts immediately recognized the challenge.

"Then let’s start with ten Bronze Rwa each," Caelum suggested.

Everyone quickly agreed.

"But before that... let’s eat something!" Skyler suddenly said.

He raised a finger dramatically.

The group stared at him.

"Didn’t we just have breakfast?" Paul asked.

"That only filled seventy percent of my capacity." Skyler placed a hand over his stomach.

"I am absolutely certain there will be strange and exotic foods at this festival."

His eyes burned with ambition.

Today, he would conquer the culinary world.

Caelum looked at him strangely.

’I don’t think that’s how festivals work...’

Most of the stalls were run by students from the Intermediate and Senior Divisions.

And most of those students came from within the Zenith Empire.

Realistically speaking, they would mostly encounter regional dishes from around the country rather than anything truly exotic.

Still, nobody objected.

Thus began their great search for food.

Unfortunately, twenty minutes later, the search had already ended.

The entire group stood silently in the middle of the festival grounds.

Their expressions were strangely complicated.

’Why are there so many fast-food stalls...?’

Every single one of them had arrived at the exact same conclusion.

No matter where they looked.

Mckn legs, Mckn fingers, sandwiches, Sweet pastries, roasted potatoes, fried potatoes.

Potatoes covered in other potatoes.

And somehow even more potatoes.

The dream of discovering mysterious cuisine had ended in complete failure.

"This is to be expected..." Caelum said while trying to comfort everyone.

"We are the future elites of the Empire, so most students here only know how to swing swords and cast spells."

The group became even more depressed after hearing him.

Even Skyler’s dreams of discovering exotic cuisine were beginning to crumble.

Just then, someone crashed into Caelum.

***

Ethan Morvendrell was currently on high alert.

Even though today was a festival.

Even though students were enjoying themselves.

And even though he was technically on a date with a beautiful girl.

His expression remained serious.

"You finally have time to let me treat you to a meal," Soleil said from beside him.

Under the bright sunlight, her yellow hair seemed to shine even more brilliantly than usual.

Their strange relationship had begun after Ethan saved her during the attack by the Hidden Kosilori Cult.

Since then, she had repeatedly insisted on repaying him.

After delaying for as long as possible, Ethan had finally run out of excuses which led to the current situation.

The feeling of walking beside a beautiful girl wasn’t necessarily unpleasant.

Especially when she kept dragging him around by the hand.

Unfortunately, Ethan’s internal thoughts were a complete disaster.

’Damn it... why do I have to do this? No, if I don’t do this then...’

He immediately stopped himself from imagining the consequences.

Those consequences were terrifying.

"Let’s go find something good to eat!" Soleil declared enthusiastically.

And so the two wandered through the festival grounds.

Ten minutes later...

Another ten minutes...

Neither of them had found a proper place to eat.

"Uh... Senior, how about we just buy some Mckn Legs? I don’t think there are any students here running an actual restaurant." Ethan pointed toward a nearby stall.

He genuinely wanted to end this quickly.

For some reason, seeing the fried meat reminded him of a certain menace.

At the same time, Ethan silently used his family’s mind calming technique, because he was afraid Soleil would hear how loudly his heart was beating if he stopped it.

"Why are you in such a hurry? We can just keep looking." Soleil asked suspiciously.

Then her eyes suddenly brightened.

"Oh! Let’s try Hot-Cold Cream first!"

Before Ethan could object, he was dragged away once again.

Hot-Cold Cream was a popular festival drink.

It remained pleasantly hot while being consumed but cooled the moment it entered the stomach, creating a unique sensation.

As Ethan allowed himself to be dragged through the crowd.

Bump!

He collided with someone.

And that someone crashed into another person.

"I’m sorr–" Ethan stopped midway.

His eyes widened.

The person he had bumped into was familiar to him.

At the same time, the familiar figure was staring at another familiar figure.

Caelum’s eyes suddenly lit up.

His expression resembled someone who had discovered buried treasure.

"Head of the Food Faculty, Jordon Ramtalk!"

He felt as though fate itself had blessed him.

"WOOOOOF!"

Voomie barked loudly from his shoulder.

For some unknown reason, her hunger had suddenly intensified some time ago.

And the moment they were desperately searching for proper food.

They had crashed into the most qualified person in the entire school to solve that problem.

"Fukd!"
